Wise Old Cats

Kasey and I are kind of old and very wise. Since He and She value wise old people and cats, it is our best interest to show them we are wise enough to almost always keep our poo in the litter boxes, and to eat slowly so we don't scatter kibbles everywhere. Kasey acts like she is wise until the back door opens, and then she tries to get out. Since He is old and wise He catches her. As for Her, She loves a lot of people, but among Her favorites are The Crones, who are wise and wonderful. You have to be a certain amount of old to be a Crone, but She is older than all but one of them. She had a lovely time with them last night.
This has been a really unusual day. There was nothing on Her calendar at all. That almost never happens, so today She just had a retired day. We did all our routines, but She didn't work on very much de-cluttering and only made one order from Her catalogs. She didn't even watch TV. She just thought. She thinks She is lucky to be able to think without getting b*r*d. (Remember, we are not allowed to use that word.) She can sort things out in Her thoughts and decide what to write down. Today She was remembering all Her old boyfriends. One of Her favorite things to remember is that the boys thought She was smart and funny. In the olden days, some boys were afraid of smart girls, so some girls acted as if they were not smart to not scare the boys. Not Her, though. Her Grandma would have made a sad face if She had pretended like that. It was all a long time ago. That is why She is old and wise today. If I can act wise enough, maybe She will fix pizza for dinner. Mmmmmm. Maybe it's because of those Italian boys, but I feel like eating some of Her pizza. Chow for Now.

Electrical Cats

It started out to be a really good day. She was havng a meeting with Her beloved Crones tonight, She was visiting with Her computer friends while listening to Her three Italian boys. Suddenly, everything turned off, all by itself. It turned out the electricity was off all over the house.Now She was in a pickle. Our phones don't work when the electricity is off, and He was at the dentist. She has forgotten to get new phone minutes on Her carry-around phone. When He brought His carry-around phone home, They called the electricity fixers. They said they would send somebody out. Before that guy came, the electricity turned back on by itself. She was very chuffed about that, because it meant She wouldn't have to pay a guy to fix it. What an adventure. Everything is OK now, so She can go to Her meeting with a smiley face.
In one more day it will be July. It seems as if it took a long time to get here. I am glad it is July at last because it is time for Cleo'sDad's birthday, and Hana'sGran will have Hana and her family in her house. I know She will go and see them. Also, Her beloved Eddie is through doing his show far away and will be coming back to the country where we live. She won't be able to go see him this time, though. Well, at least he is a little closer. Ohoh, She's coming back now, to buy minutes for Her phone. TTYL

Worried Cats

Today was the day for Their Thinking People at our cousin Sabra's house. We are usually happy for Them when they have Their Thinking Day, because He and She like to think. They were especially excited to go today because Her nice Crone friend was there. She had never gone before, and she is a very nice person - who also thinks. This is why we are worried. Sabra'sMom had the question today, and it was about having a war. We already have a bunch of wars going on, and the President She likes so uch is trying to stop at least one of them. Sabra'sMom made Him and Her think about how things were going in the world, and even though She likes to think about happy things, today's talk made things seem more gloomy. It didn't take long until She was cheered up again, though, because She decided that all we can do is the best we can. He and She told us not to worry. Trouble is, I can't help it. Kasey is lucky, because as long as she gets her treats, she doesn't care about the rest of the world.
After a nice lunch and a few pets, I felt a lot better myself. She sent some things about Her beloved Eddie to the new lady, because She likes that lady and wants to share. If the new lady doesn't like Her Eddie, it will be OK, though. People can like whatever they want. But they should at least know about this Favorite guy because She talks about him all the time. Must check the menu for tonight. Toodles.

Eating Cats

Of course we eat. We eat every day. He fills our dishes when we get low on kibbles. We are not in danger of missing any meals, and neither are He and She. Today, though, She felt like She had to get some new food, and so She went to the store. Kasey and I don't care for sweet things, and neither does He. Do you know who loves sweet things? She does. She practically floated home when She found a box with a really lot of ice-cream things for a very low price. Since they are already measured out, She is not in danger of eating too much at a time. Most of the things She eats are kind of measured out, so except for those cookies, She can eat right. We help Her with that. That is why we are eating cats.
She got a call today from an old friend, and She was on the phone so long that I almost didn't get to write my story. I had to climb all over Her to get Her off the phone. She likes to talk to old friends, though. Plus She is very happy that Her beloved Crones will meet this week, and so will Her beloved Thinking people. I'll give you a report when those meetings happen. For now I will just tell you that when She goes to the store, She comes home very knackered. I guess I'm getting old, Cofs, She tells me. Kasey and I laugh when She says that. Getting old? No kidding. Well, TaTa for now.

Pleasant Cats

This is the kind of day it has been around here. A pleasant day. Everything was sort of easy, with no emergencies or disappointments. They have gotten some things done, so it wasn't a wasted day. She does not like a wasted day, when you think, let's see, what have I gotten done today? and the answer is nothing. No it wasn't that kind of day. But it wasn't a rush to get things done day, either. They were pleased with their movie that comes in the mail. The paper said it wasn't so good, but they like the players in it, so they watched, and it was OK. Jolly good fun, She said. I mostly slept through it.
She also cleared up a mystery. Hana'sGran is getting ready for Hana and her family to come for a visit. She got them a funny little rug that somehow showed the children were really special. It didn't come for a long time, and She was getting kind of mad at the company that sends it. Today She fouind out that it was there, but the company didn't tell Hana'sGran that it came from Him and Her and Kasey and me.She was so relieved that it got there in time that She isn't even mad about that anymore.
When you have a pleasant day, you feel quite smiley. It is a nice feeling. Cheers.

Beautiful Cats

There has been a lot to do with pictures around here. This is what happened. Her OperaGirl is a beautiful singer, yes. But she is also a good photographer. Of Course, OG would be a treasure to Her if she couldn't do anything but be there, but OG is a very talented young lady. When She was visiting Her OperaGirl last summer, OG took pictures of Her and the others when they all went to visit with Eddie. One of the pictures was Made into a great big one and is in a frame at Their house. Now, She has not had a good picture to put next to Her notes to her friends, so Her OG fixed up part of a picture that showed Her face all smiles, and taught Her how to put it next to Her notes. She was so chuffed over that She almost started to dance. Her friends said they liked it too, even though it was made before She had Her fake teeth. She doesn't even care about that. Then She reminded Kasey and me that our pictures are here by my stories, and there is a picture of me where She writes to Her Eddie-people. I am a beautiful cat, indeed, and so is my sister, Kasey, although Kasey doesn't care about things like that. She has let me look at the pictures of you that are on the computer, and I know some of you in person-cat. I believe that you are beautiful, too.
That is what we were thinking about today. That and the three Italian boys. So chow for now.

Flexible Cats

All Her life, Her job meant that She had to have plans for everything, all day. Now that She is retired, plans have turned into to-do lists. She doesn't have to tell what the goals and objectives are, just what is on Her calendar and what is on Her list. If something changes, She is OK with is, so Kasey and I are OK with it as well. For example, Her to-do list for today said that She would go to this special store to buy some things to eat that were on a big sale. To do that, of course, She would need Her car, which was still at the fixing place. There was a car They borrowed from the fixing place, so She could use that. The more She thought about it, though, the special sale still cost more than Her budget amounted to, and She realized that something that cost $22 instead of $25 was still quite a lot of money. She thought about it until almost lunch time, and then decided She had enough to eat for the weekend, and stayed home. That way, She could decide what we will do tomorrow. I'm just afraid She might change my name to Ignazio, after that cute little singer.
Fish and chips are for our dinner tonight. Picture me with a happy face and my usual name. Bwayno notchee.

Unitarian Cats

He and She were something called Unitarians before They met each other. You know how Humans are. They like to get together with people who think the same things they do. Well, They have this page full of rules from their belief, and that's how They decide things. One thing Their religion says is that They are supposed to think for themselves, and not get answers from some book or bossy person. I guess that is a good thing, because They decide good stuff most of the time. This is perfect for Her, because it involves learning every day, and She is really into that. Never stoip learning, Coffs, She says. Keep searching for true knowledge. She has a kind of hard time with appreciating every single person, because His mother - well, She is still working on that one. She solves it by staying away from the old lady, and not hurting her feelings. They also believe that it is important to help others. Everything you do for others makes things nicer for you, They say. They give away more things than they should, if you ask me. A big part of what they believe is about love. Love is how everything works, They say. I know about love, since Kasey and I came here to live. Love is knowing that you are worthwhile and can make another cat or dog or person glad. You guys all make us glad. We love you. Bye now.

Dry Cats

While it was still very early, even before He and She usually wake up, there was a strange sound. Kasey and I have heard it before, but we kind of forgot. There was a rumbling noise, then some flashes of light. The next thing you could hear was raindrops, hitting the windows and the door. He used His umbrella to go and feed the birds, and to get the paper. She was so excited that She got up and looked outside. Poor Katy was there, getting all wet, and wanting to come inside. He felt very sad to leave Katy out there, but He knew it was dry by our front door. He gave Her some kibbles and told her to stay out there. We watched the rain out of out windows, but I was glad we didn't have to go out and get wet.
He had to, though. It is time to get Her car fixed before it breaks. It works fine, but it is old - as old as Kasey and me, but it seems as if it is brand new. The fixing guys said lots of things were worn from old age. She said I know just how they feel. Everything will be fixed by tomorrow afternoon. Except Her worn-out parts.
Her brother, who is Abby'sDad went to a faraway place where there are wars and troubles. It is part of his work to do that. Her brother sent Her some wonderful stuff from a salty place. It is for Her to wash Her face and smear stuff on Herself. She is tickled pink, and told Her brother and Him and me that She would soon be beautiful! We are all laughing about that. Cheerio, mates.

Impressed Cats

Today was the first day of summer, and He and She celebrated by going to have brunch at a very special place. You see, Her MusicGuy has a son who is very good at having places to eat and drink coffee. He has opened one of those places kind of close to here, and that's where They decided to go. She knew it would be nice, but it was even nicer than they expected. She is still excited by Her coffee, which came with a heart design in the cream. Everything tasted perfect, and looked pretty, as well. He and She will go back there, She says. That is for sure. She is very proud of that young man. She has know him since he was a little boy in school. He is smart and handsome and is kind, like his whole family.
Of course, brunch means no toast and butter, so I hope They go for lunch next time. (ahem) They were both too full for lunch, but I bet supper will be very nice, because They are having a nice-things kind of day.
Some good news came about His mother. No, not the news She is waiting for. They told Him that He would be getting some of His money back, since He has paid too much for a while. That is really excellent news, because it means He will not have to find the old lady a cheaper place. That is the kind of good news that goes with a day that starts off with being impressed with a place to eat and the young man who made it. chow, bellas.

Cat-Nip Cats

Actually, it is more Kasey than me, but here's what happened. Kasey has been trying to eat the leaves off of the plastic plants on the TV set. He figured out that she wants some fresh grass. He went to the store where they sell grass for cats, but they didn't have any plain grass, so He brought catnip plants home. If I had been with Him, I would have told Him to be very sure He understands what Kasey would be like if she ate a bunch of catnip. But no, He brought it in, and Kasey started eating it right away. Kasey is such a doofus. Oh, sure, I took a couple of bites, but I can hold my catnip. Kasey is half my size, so it just takes a few chomps before she gets silly. Right now Kasey is sleeping off her last couple of chomps, but I'll bet seven kibbles that she eats some more when she wakes up.
Other than that, it has been a regular day, with checking messages on the computer and listening to those three Italian boys. Oh, how She loves to listen to them. Then She watches those old TV programs. She laughs at things that used to be normal, like telephones with dials on them instead of poke buttons. No one has a carry-around phone. It makes both of them chuckle.
I think I hear Kasey running around. I'll go and try to keep her out of the catnip. Toodles.

Italian Cats

Ever since She found those Italian boys who can sing so nicely, She has been thinking about Itlian things. She says cats like Kasey and me are gattos. If we were big fierce cats, like lions (Not our cousin Lion, but wild lions) we would be felinos. Personally, I think felino is nicer than gatto, but since She speaks English, She will call us what She likes.I have seen pictures of my cousin Lion, and if he isn't a felino, I don't know who is.
After She played the Italian boys' music about a thousand times, He said you must really like that CD. She explained that She was trying to tell which of the three boys was singing by himself, and also was trying to translate the words. If She starts mixing in another language when She talks to us, Kasey and I will be baffled.
She saw Kasey sleeping all stretched out and very still. She leaned down to make sure Kasey was alright, because She doesn't usually see her like that. Kasey picked up her head and stared into Her eyes and said what are you looking at? She laughed very hard at that, because Kasey said it in Italian. Or something.
Now She is puzzled about what to have for Her dinner. I suggested fish, but She said we just had that. She likes variety in Her dinners, which is funny, because She usually eats the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day for years at a time.. I'll let you know. Get this - Airy-va-dare-chee.

Package Cats

Today was mostly about packages. Packages we sent and packages that we got. Almost every day someone brings a package to our door. Sometimes there are two at once.The reason for that is She loves to shop in those catalogs, We have so many things in our closet now that are things for other people that She has to put little tags on them. Then She has to mark whether they are for birthdays or Christmas. If you have known Her for awhile, you know that She sometimes forgets what She has bought for which grandchild, and for which holiday. And if you don't watch out, you will get a copy of those singing boys for Christmas AND your birthday!
She is even more excited when She hears that someone has gotten a package from Her and Him. The box that She sent to LW's house got there, and so far, everyone is happy with their stuff. Those are birthday packages. LW'sMom is at her job of being a minister, and it takes her all day. I bet LW'sMom is like Her. That means that she is happy doing the work and is peppy all day. Then when she is through, she has to collapse. That's how She was when She went to Her teaching job.
She is getting used to staying home most of the time, but every so often He and She plan to go on a date. They have one planned for next week, as a matter of fact. I'll tell you about it when it happens. I'll have to learn more ways to say goodbye in Italian, because that's what She is listening to now. Good-a bye.

Appreciated Cats

He makes sure the bathroom counter is cleared of things so that it's ready for Kasey to jump up and get a treat when she wakes up. She will pick me up whenever I ask Her to, even if She was on Her way to do something else. They make sure we have water and kibbles, and let us try some of Their food when it is interesting to us. All of this is to say that They appreciate Kasey and me, and all we have to do is to make them laugh and keep our poo inside the litter box. This is so much better than where we used to live, and we will stay with Them forever.
All day the music has been playing from those three boys who sing very nicely. She is trying to figure out how to see them in person, and maybe adopt them, like She did Her beloved Eddie. He is not very fond of the boys' singing. He says it's opera, but it isn't. She says He thinks that because they sing mostly in Italian. She thinks Her OpreaGirl would laugh about that. Is it because they are just young boys that they amaze Her, or is it the way they sound? She says they give Her chills. I thought the name of their group was odd - Il Volo. But She says that just means The Wind.
It is time for fish today, and I am glad I'm appreciated. Chow, bellas. That's Italian.

Window Cats

Kasey and I are lucky, because we don't go outside. We look out the windows, though, and we see hardly anyone outside during the day. Even our cousin Katy likes to stay where it is covered up. It is because the temperature is very high, and it still has not rained. She doesn't go out much, but when She does, She says it is kind of like an oven. We know how that is because They have an oven in the kitchen, and we can feel how hot it is when She takes out Her dinner.
Her big fun today was going to the doc with Katy'sPeople. She gets to talk to Katy'sMom while the kids listen to their music in the back seat. Today while they were at the doc, a lady who used to teach with Her came along, and they had a nice reunion. Even though the lady had not seen Her in a lot of years, she recognized Her right away, and said She had not changed in all those years. It made Her laugh, because all those years ago, She was much slimmer and Her hair was hardly grey at all. I guess people know how to see inside a person because I bet She hasn't changed inside from being a teacher.
She heard about some boys who live farther away than Eddie. They are very young, and they sing like angels, She says. She bought their music, and is always playing it. These boys sing to Her soul, She says. I don't know what that means, but they sound OK for humans. Ah-dyou for now.

Back to Happy Cats

Yes, things were better today. She was up and not blue at all. We had our regular morning routine, followed by some planning, and a trip to the store for Her and a little snooze for us. She had to go to the store to buy some things to make Her numbers come out right. You see, when there are certain numbers, She can put gas in Her car and save ten cents for every bunch of gas that it takes. She was very happy to get that ten cents, because gas is very expensive. She got a few things She needed to make the numbers right, and was tickled pink to save the money. You know how She is about that. She also mailed a package, and got a message that Her OperaGirl received her book. It was a good day.
He went to have lunch with His mother again. He says she seems to have forgotten how to eat, so He helps her. He is a nice man. He also went to talk to a lady doc about what He is supposed to eat to help his blood sugar. He says He will tell Her all about it later. She can't wait to hear what the doc said about Him eating vegetables.
She also sent a gift off to Mazie, because She had a five dollars off ticket for that store. She was on a money-saving day for sure. I have high hopes for a good dinner that we can share. I am sure it won't be fish. When She ate that Hawaiian fish last week She got all itchy with hives.. More info tomorrow. Bye.

Blue Cats

This kind of day is very unusual around our house. Kasey and I call it a Blue Day. Oh, She is not crying, or anything like that, but She is blue, all the same. It started because She slept too long. She had things on Her to-do list that were hard to get started, and She ended up only getting a few things done. Of course, I recognized that and gave Her a bunch of extra snuggles, and that helped a little, but She thought it only slowed Her down. As She hurried to get back to the list, it dawned on Her that a quick trip to the store just didn't happen anymore. Rides had to be planned for, and there were things that She used to just pick up and do that now had to be planned for - and that bummed Her out.
Then, there was a stroke of luck. He went out to get the mail. I guess He was sad looking at Her grumpy face. Guess what He brought in! A post-card from Her beloved OperaGirl that she sent while she was in London! Well, that's what it took to put a smile back on Her face and get Her moving. She had the starch back to do most of the things on the list, and though She didn't get to the Post Office, She has a package ready to mail to LW'sHouse. She promised She wouldn't stay up so late today. Speaking for Kasey and me, and also Him, we want to thank you, OperaGirl. It is nice to have Her back. Chow for now.

Laid Back Cats

We had a truly fun weekend, and She was so glad we behaved for our company. Today was more laid back. You know, nice and quiet and easy. Our usual routine - breakfast, butter and reading the paper was followed by a bit more of arranging things. She did something that She does every so often, that has Kasey and me rolling around laughing. She takes these pinching things out of a little box, She gets a mirror, and She pulls little hairs out of Her chin. She doesn't care that we laugh. She says one day She'll pull our whiskers, but that is a joke. She would never do that. Anyway, She says a lot of old ladies have to do that, or pay someone else to do it. She used to do that for Her Grandma, She says, which makes it kind of cozy.
After we checked our messages on the computer, She went and settled down with all the catalogs that came in the mail. He and I are having real fear that She will now spend all our money. Those catalogs are so hard for Her to resist. I can hear Her all the way in here, chirping about how someone would like this or that. She is probably right, but He said don't worry Coffee, we have plenty of kibbles.
Her republican cousin sent Her a thing about some boys singing, and She has played that thing about a dozen times. I believe She already bought their record. She sent it to Her little brother, and he said he had already heard them. That made Her tickled pink. I think She is coming back to play it again. G'day, Mates.

Brave Cats

Oh, how happy He and She were! Cleo's people came over to visit, and they brought delicious things to eat. That's how to have company, Cofs, She told me. Have them bring their own stuff to eat. But She would have been just as happy to see them if they didn't bring anything. Of course He and She had coffee-the-drink for them. It is a sad day when you don't find that here. Well, Kasey went out to check them out. Kasey said they had been here lots of times, but this time they didn't have a d-o-g. Remember Cleo? We didn't mind having Cleo here, but she died awhile ago. He and She still miss her I'll bet her people do, too. I was willing to go greet them when Kasey told me that, so I went with Her and actually got quite comfy with them. They need to come more often before I let them pet me, though. Kasey says no one can come often enough to give her pets. She is quite rude, you know.
They had kind of hoped They would see LW'sPeople this weekend, but alas, it was not to be. She hopes LW'sNextSister will look at her ecard. I guess I'll have to give Her extra snuggles about that. You know, LW'sMom is so very busy. It turns out that what keeps her busy makes her happy, so She can't ask for more than that. Being happy is what She's after.
Speaking of happy, Her beloved StefferGirl put a story about our Eddie on the computer. I bet She listened to that fifty times! So we can call this day a success, especially if we have something good for our dinner. Oddy-ose for now.

Katy's Girls

This is a day when Katy'sMom and Katy'sGirl ride with Her to a nice place with doctors and comfy chairs. Katy'sGirl sees a doc there, and so does Katy'sBoy, but that ride isn't until next week. She loves these rides because it gives Her a chance to visit with these darling young ladies. One thing that happened today was that so many people had to see that doc that the wait was very long. Even if She didn't know this until they got there, She brought along the puzzles from Her paper. That kept Her busy while She waited.
When She got home, He was watching a show on TV. It was about what happened in a long-ago war. When that war happened, She was a little girl, and She knew some of the things they told about that war, but She had not seen so many pictures of it, and it started to bring Her down, so She and I had a nap while He watched.The guy who started that was was a real nut-case. The guy thought everyone who wasn't like him should be rounded up and killed. That's when She started to cry, and I cuddled up with Her. She is fine now. She did some shopping on Her computer. She calls it shopping therapy.
Tonight they are watching a movie and having some of those amazing chips that Hana'sGran gave them. She will look forward to a nice day tomorrow, when Cleo'sPeople come over. Poodle tip. (get it?)

Little Things Cats

This was a kind of day when there was no big adventure, like a trip to the store for Her, or a lunch party, or any hard jobs on the calendar. There were a bunch of small tasks that all four of us had to do before it was time to fix the fish for our supper. He did go to see His mother, and went to the store to get more of those delicious little chips that Hana'sGran sent yesterday. There were still a lot of them left in the package, but He most definitely does not to run out of those. She gave me a little taste of one, and I have to say I can see why They like them. I was surprised that Kasey didn't want a taste, since she tried the chicken. You never can tell about Kasey.
A package came with a lot of books that She has bought for presents for different people. She sent one off to Her beloved OperaGirl. She said that book was exactly how She sees Her OG. She also got one for some other people. I think I had better not tell too much about the books, because She is saving them for Christmas, which is a long way away. I hope all She gets me is food, because most of the toys scare me.
There is a plan in the works for a special lunch with Her Crones, and She really wants everyone to go to it. She says the food is good, but the main thing is the joy of being together. I know just what She means by that. I feel the same way about our house. Do I sniffle fish? That's right. She says it's MahiMahi. I bet I'll like that. Tune in tomorrow.

Chicken Cats

Here is why I decided we were chicken-cats today. She went on a happy visit to our beloved Hana'sGran. While She was there, She had Some amazing things to eat. Everything was so beautiful, She said, that at first She didn't want to eat it. H'sG took a picture of the whole thing before She started to eat, and someday she'll put it on the computer and you can see it for yourself. There were little carrots, all cut up and sitting in a sauce. She said that was yummy in the tummy. Next to that were some red beets that tasted like beets and oranges at the same time, There was a pretty glass with red and blue berries in it, and a dish of tomatoes in still another special sauce. On the main plate was the chicken I was talking about, along with some cut up peppers. The best thing is that Hana'sGran sent a box of all this food home, and He and Kasey and I could see what it looks like.And the best thing about THAT is that H'sG sent some pieces of chicken in a little sack for Kasey and me. Kasey actually licked a little piece of it and wanted some more. Not like me. I know what to do with good food. I ate my piece right down.. I told Her that we love Hana'sGran, but we can't go to visit her. There are two giant d-o-gs that live there. She tells us they are nice, sweet dogs, but I believe they would eat us up as if we were pieces of chicken!What an amazing day. He and She are so happy with their sent-home food, and Kasey and I feel like chicken-cats. Goodbye for now.

Happy Cats

This was a really happy day for all of us. This is the day that She goes to get good things to eat with Her Crones. She was glad to see so many Crones, and there was even a new member for the Crones today. Since so many Crones have either moved away or died, She was feeling a little worried about whether the group was going to go on, but this new person added a lot to the group. Guess what! She is also a Thinking Person, so she will go to Thinking Day at Sabra's house. This all makes Her so very happy that the whole house was full of good things today.
He went to see His mother again, and she iis still keeping on being alive. What She says is the old lady has developed a lot of good muscles by complaining so much. I didn't know a person could do that, did you? I am baffled, Cofs, She said to me. That means She is very confused by how His mother can stay alive so long. Oh, well, Kasey and I don't have to see her so it doesn't matter to me, either way.
When She was at the meeting of The Crones, She ate lots of splendid food. The thing She had that I would have liked is some tender pieces of chicken. She says She doesn't really care for the fish they have there, and since you are not allowed to bring stuff home, I'll have to take Her word for that. It looks as if She is starting to think about fixing dinner. I bet She's not very hungry, after that big lunch. Hmmmm. TTYL about that.

Rest-Up Cats

We had kind of a rest-up day today. Sure, we did a few things, to be sure. She doesn't like for a day to end and She has to look back and say we wasted the whole day. So we worked on the organizing things, but for some reason, I felt like having a big bunch of snuggles, so I had to have Her pick me up and play with me. Even if She is on Her way to do something else, if I ask Her to pick me up, She does, and then She has to sit down with me, because I am a pretty heavy cat. Well, ten or fifteen minutes of playing, and She is interested in something else. TV or catalogs or a conversation. What we really had to rest up for is to get ready for Her calendar. She has things to do with Her friends all the rest of the week. right up until Sunday.
One thing that has Her excited, besides Her calendar, is that Her beloved Mazie is going to Paris next month. I don't know for sure what that is, but it makes Her tickled pink, so I guess it is a good thing. One time She went on a trip with Mazie's other Grandma, and She says they flew on a plane for hours and ended up in a whole other country, where summer and winter are turned around. Mazie is going to that country, too,because her Mom and Grandma have family there. When She was there, She really liked those people, so She is happy about that trip, as well.
I had better go and check on Her now, because She seems interested in some news on TV. I'll be back tomorrow.

College Cats

One of Her good friends started a discussion on the computer about whether going to college is a waste of time. It so happens She has some very stron feelings about that. You know how She is about money, and She is almost that particular about learning. Here is what humans do. They go to school until they are all grown up, and then they know the have to go to work. If you need more learning to go to work, you go to college first. That is what She did, because She needed college to be a teacher. That is what He did, because He wanted to draw things and make plans. Since She didn't have any money, She studied hard and the school paid some of Her way, but She also worked while She was learning. He got His college paid because He had been a soldier in the Marines. That's not how they do it now, She says. People have to borrow a lot of money and pay it back when they are through. I guess that is fair, except She thinks too many of them get through with college and don't know what job they want to get. It makes Her want to cry, but there is nothing She can do. Kasey and I don't need to go to college, because we already know everything.
There is thunder again over here, but still no rain. I am SO glad we don't have to live outside. We get plenty of water to drink in here. And we don't want the trees to fall down like they showed on TV. Oddy-ose chicas.

Praying Cats

Things have gotten different at our house. For one thing, She doesn't go to church anymore. Neither does He. She used to go every single Sunday morning. She even used to give talks at the church. Now that it is hard for Her to get around, She hardly goes at all. She is happy that Her MusicGuy is in charge, because She likes the way he thinks, and She loves his family. For Her, though, there just isn't the spark that used to be there. He thinks maybe Her feelings were hurt. She honestly never wanted to stop progress. Anyone who knows Her knows that. She finds her spirit without saying prayers.Sometimes She just sits and thinks. Kasey and I do that, as well. She says we are praying when we sit on Her tummy and purr. What She does is to focus Her mind. Since our minds are basically about pets and kibble, She thinks maybe focusing our energy is not likely, so She says we're praying. Someday, we will find out what that means.
Meanwhile, Katy's people want to be sure Katy is OK. He goes and checks to be sure she has food and water. Katy comes over here to get it. Luckily, Katy doesn't know that there will be shrimp in our dinner tonight. What she doesn't know won't hurt her, right? Chow, Bellas.

Thin Cats Fat Cats

There were some stories on Her computer that made Her very interested in how people feel about being fat. While I am not exactly fat, I am twice the size of my sister Kasey. It so happens I am the more lovable of the two of us. Ask anybody. Of course, She is fat, and has decided to eat whatever She likes. She told us that ever since She was a grown-up, She has had to think about Her weight. She has lost weight and gained it back about a dozen times, She said, and She thinks about all the different ways She worked on it. Whether She was thin or fat, She tried to be a nice person, and She has had a lot of friends. When She was a kid, She would tell Her Grandma that She wished She was beautiful. Her Grandma said would you trade your IQ for it? So She decided it was OK to be smart. She laughs when She tells that story, but being smart has worked out for Her. Did you know She had a mate before Him? That guy thought She was the just perfect, and He thinks He is lucky to have Her. Being a good cook doesn't hurt, She says. Now She doesn't care if anyone is thin or fat - especially Her.
Our cousin Katy is home alone this weekend, and He is putting out food and water for Katy until her Mom and Kids come home. We love our cousin Katy. We just don't want her in our house. Have a nice evening. I'll be back tomorrow.

Smart Cats

You know Kasey and I are smart cats, because we live here in this nice place, where we get lots of good food and all we have to do is entertain Them. There has been a lot of talk on TV and on the computer about whether going to a place called college is a waste of money. He and She talk a lot about that. She thinks people should have an idea of what they want to do before they go to college. She also thinks education is good for its own sake. Does this mean She argues with Herself? No, because it is about the money. If you want to go to college, that is good. If you do it to get a job or career, like She did, you deserve help. He is all about getting the skills you need and says some people don't have to go to a regular college for that. It is kind of fun to hear them talk about it, because She says school should give you a love for learning. He and She agree that every day you learn something is a good day. She thinks the schools could do a better job. Kasey and I learned almost everything before we came here. Kasey knows how to get treats, and I know how to get snuggles and butter. Some cats have to catch mice to get a nice house. If Kasey and I saw a mouse, we would probably faint.
Both of Them feel good today, and don't have to worry about things until they hear from the IRS people, so They have decided not to worry today. Later, Gator.

Cats Keep Cool

If you would go outside, like our cousin Katy does, you would know it is very hot. Kasey keeps wanting to go out, but I think She is right when She says Kasey would not like how hot it is outside. It is not legally summer yet, and this is how hot it gets in the middle of summer. She almost never goes out, but She says this is why She came to this place to live. Where She used to live it only gets this hot for a few days every year.Now She is used to the heat, and She is OK with it. Another thing about these hot days is that it doesn't rain. She says to be careful what you wish for, because if you wish for rain, it may come in a dangerous storm. It isn't fair to wish for rain and then wish for it to stop before there is too much. She says there is a lady called Mother Nature, and it doesn't matter what you want, Mother Nature will send what she wants. He says that is just a story, and the weather is make out of science. I don't like to argue with Her, but I think He is right.
Whatever the weather does, She will like next week, because She is going to see Hana's Gran, and that's always perfect, whatever the weather does.
I like to lie in the sun where it comes in the window, so I think I'll go do that now. Yes, it is warm, but not too hot, or I wouldn't like it. Toodle Pip.

Grocery Cats

Today She went to a kind of store called a grocery store. She went on a mission to stock up on things and use a big bunch of coupons. It took Her a long time, but She finally found all the things She had coupons for. Some things were on high shelves, and She had to get tall people to help Her. She says people are very nice like that. She also got points for when She buys gas for the car. She still has to spend $7 to get enough to save some money, but it is early in the month, and She knows She can do it. Saving money is Her hobby, I think.
Going to the grocery store is quite a job for Her. First, She has to get all Her coupons and also make a list. The shopping part is the easiest, because She pushes a cart around. Her Eddie calls that cart a trolley. He also say the word knackered, and that tells how She feels when She gets home. She has to sit down a few minutes before She puts everything away. That is the last part of the grocery experience. When it was all done, I gave Her some nice snuggles. She told me that She used to go to work, go to the store on the way home, fix dinner and go to a meeting afterwards. If you could see Her now, you would never believe that.
Here is a secret. She got Herself some fancy ice-cream-on-sticks because She says She earned them. OK I won't tell -- as long as She shares. Bye for now.
