Cats Who Have Things

Kasey and I have learned to be glad for what we have, instead of sorry for what we don't have. That's what She thinks we all ought to do. In fact, for a very long time, even before we came to live here, it is what She told people to do. She says She tried to teach that to Her children that She taught in school. She had a big round button that said No Whining. Here is what Kasey and I do when we are sad. We say, so what if we're low on kibbles. He will give us more pretty soon, so we don't have to go outside and kill mice. Sometimes She gets sad because She forgets things, like words for her puzzles. Well, at least nothing hurts me, She says, and pretty soon something reminds her of the word. You know, I get very scared sometimes, even though nothing has hurt me for a lot of months and years. She tells me there there, Coffs, you are safe here, and She gives me pets. Here's what helps a really lot. To laugh. When you decide to laugh about something instead of grumping, the feeling of mad goes away. One day She was looking in a catalog, like She does, and She saw a bunch of papers that had Pro on one side and Con on the other, and there were lines to write things good and bad about what you are trying to decide. Look, Coffster, She said to me. someone stole my idea. She has been telling people to do that ever since Her Gran told Her that a really lot of years ago. No wonder I am not rich, She said. All these years I could have been selling papers like that and getting rich. That surprised me, because honestly, Kasey and I think we are rich. Especially when there is chicken on the menu. We all laughed about those papers, which made me quite hungry for dinner. Later, gator.

Picture-Frame Cats

In this room, where Her computer is, There are nine pictures of Her beloved Eddie. There is one more in a frame, waiting for Him to nail it up, and there is a great big one in the living room, because She wants to look at it every day. Her OperaGirl took the picture, as you know, and would love the frame that She got for it. A nice lady at the picture-frame store helped Her pick out the exactly right frame, then she put it in the frame very carefully, and fixed up the back so He could hang it up when She got back home. Just to prove to you how lucky She is, everything was half-price, and the lady did not charge Her for all the stuff she put on the back. Since She is very particular about money, Her conscience feels better for the half-price deal. LW's family helped Her get to see Eddie in the play, even though LW'sMom is lukewarm about our Eddie. It means she can take him or leave him. That is OK with Her, because She loves LW'sMom and says she can think whatever she wants. But She loves Her picture. Eddie even wrote his name on it. Kasey and I can't figure out what makes Her cry about it. He says She is just so happy, and so grateful for all the stuff people do to make Her dreams come true. Next job - learn how to put pictures on the computer. She did once, but now She has forgotten. She will find someone to remind Her. Don't look at me. I put my picture there, and my sister's, but I'm not helping Her. Next thing you know, She would have my picture all over the place.
Hmmm. Smells like pizza, but it isn't. I have to go figure this out. Cheerio.

Emmy Cats

Tonight there is a show on TV where guys get awards for acting. What She says is that Kasey and I should get awards because we make Her laugh every day, even bummer days. Today She laughed when we saw our cousin Katy looking in the window, and we bumped heads with each other when we looked out at Katy. Since Kasey and I almost never touch each other, She called for Him to come look, and that's when we noticed our heads were together. She laughed and so did He. We deserve an award.
Later, She went with Mable'sMom to have one of their Sunday morning meals. She told Him We are worshiping at Sr. Guayaba today. He knows that means they are going there to eat. (snerk)
They had things to eat that reminded Her of the time She went with Mazie's other Grandma to a far away place where they spoke another language. The food there was lovely, She has told us. Well, today She had soome fod like that. Her tummy got so full that She felt like having a nap. She never has a nap, so that must have been some good food. She didn't bring any home, because this place let you take all you wanted of each thing, but you had to eat it there. I expect I'll get a taste of some gumbo.
Her idea today was for everyone to do something nice for someone to honor Her OzGirl's friend who died too young. Mable'sMom bought Her food, and She ordered something for the Alphas. That is LW and her sibs. I am going to see who else got an award besides Kasey and me. Oddy-ose.

Reporting Cats

Every one of us was busy today. He went to hear a book writer talk about how to write books. That is what He does a lot. He had a really early start and She didn't get up for a while later. But when She did get up, She was ready to go. She started putting things away, and only stopped to check in with Her computer friends. That is fun for Her, but it gets Her to do list kind of off the track. Kasey and I were helping Her until She went to Her computer, and we were patient for awhile, then we started to bother Her, so She gave up and went back to Her list. One thing She didn't get to do today was to put Her beloved pictures in frames. You see, they came wrapped up tightly in a tube, and they were very curly. She is putting them out flat, under heavy books, until they straighten out. She has looked at them so much She may havce looked the pictures right off of them. Don't be silly, Coffster, She says. OperaGirl makes them so you can look at them for a bunch of years. Then She went to Her catalogs. By Christmas, She will forget all the stuff She has already got, and will get more. Just when She is ready to explain that She is going to be a cheapskate this year, to pay for Her new teeth. She sees something and She can't resist! I see kids stuff and grown-ups stuff and dog stuff - but no cat stuff. Not even for Katy-next-door. I guess She can resist that stuff. I'll go and double check in Her office closet. But don't ask me what She has for everyone. That is secret. I won't tell. Bye.

Lunch/Picture Cats

Today She woke up very happy. She was happy that we are still cool, of course, but mostly happy because She was about to have a lunch with Deena'sMom to celebrate D'sM's Birthday. That is why She was worried until that birthday present arrived. She just loves Deena'sMom! They had a nice lunch, but what She brought home didn't have an inviting sniffle to it. It actually smelled a lot like vegetables. When lunch was over, and She was back at home, the doorbell rang. Who could that be? I was very alert. It turned out it was the mail guy. There was a package for Her that didn't fit in the mailbox. When She saw it, She exploded! Not really, but She knew it was from Her OperaGirl, who takes very beautiful pictures, and She found an autographed picture of Her with Her beloved Eddie. She saw him in his play when She was at OG's house last month. That was enough to make Her cry, but Her OperaGirl had also put pictures in there of Her with the other people in Eddie's play, and best of all (besides the autographed one) was a picture of Her with Her OzGirl, Her OperaGirl, and a new friend that was very nice. She is going to get frames for all of them, but maybe She wil let the picture frame store fix up Her Eddie one.If you could see how happy She is with that lunch and those pictures, you would wonder why She doesn't know how to purr. Lucky for Her, I am purring for Her.
No fish again tonight. Thanks to the guy who invented kibbles. Toodle Pip

Cats in Comfort

When we went to bed last night, our house was still pretty warm. In fact, She didn't have a cover over Her. But by the latest part of the night, it got nice and cool, and when She put a cover on, I decided to give Her a massage to let Her know I was comfy again. When morning came and it was time for butter, we had forgotten how hot we had been. The misery is over. But She thinks we should all think of something every day that we know will be there, and be glad about it. For me, there are a few things. Butter, for one. She tried to give butter to Kasey on Her finger, and Kasey got very close and sniffled it, but did not take any. When She put it on a little plastic lid on the floor, Kasey came over and ate it! I laughed so hard I almost fell over. Another thing we have here every day is kibbles. If He ran out of kibbles to give me, I would be sadder than if the air conditioning didn't work.
He and She went over to Cleo'sMom's for lunch, and oh my, you should have heard them telling me how nice it was. She said the house seemed empty with no Cleo in it. We miss our cousin, Cleo. but They had a fine time. The lunch had all Her favorite stuff in it, and Cleo'sMom makes you feel good just being there. That's how I feel about MY house and my people. All this talk about things to eat has made me peckish. That means hungry. So I'll have a snack, and forgive Them for not bringing home any tuna. Chow for now.

Sympathy Cats

We are a sorry lot around here today. The fixing guy didn't come until lunch time, and he told Them that it would cost a lot of money to fix the air conditioning. After a lot of talking and figuring, They decided to have the guy go ahead and fix it. To tell the truth, they didn't have much choice. Some more guys came and have been working on it all day. I had to go hide in His office, because the bedroom door was closed to keep Kasey in. The fixing guys propped the front door open to let out the hot. Kasey would have been out of here like a streak. If they don't get finished soon, She will have to have Her shower and go to Crones, where it will be nice and cool, and She will get coffee-the-drink with ice in it.
With all the hot air around here, we still had a couple of good things, and they were about the mail. First of all, Her worry about something getting here in time for Deena'sMom's birthday. I can't tell you any more, except that it is here. Also, another package, this one for Her OperaGirl's birthday - but that is way far away, so She will put it away carefully and forget about it. Shhh. And one more thing came. A long time ago, She sent a present to Her Beloved Eddie and asked him to send a note back to say it got there OK. She put in an envelope with Her name on it and a stamp, so all Eddie would have to do is have someone say it got there and send a note back. That was months ago. Well today She got the note, signed by Eddie himself. I feel sorry for the Crones, because She will be all yippy about it. I'm going back to hide until the fixing guys go away. TTYL

Warm Cats

Here is a thing that takes a perfectly lovely day and turns it into a sort of bummer. The air conditioning, which is what keeps us cool, has stopped working. I heard Her call the fixing guy, and they told Her they could come right out. Wait. They are going to an important meeting tonight, and His heart would break if They couldn't go. He has been so chuffed about it, and that She is going with Him, that She told them to come tomorrow morning instead. If you don't hear from me tomorrow, it means I have melted. At least He and She will be at a nice, cool meeting, and talking about His writing. Kasey and I will get under the fans and wait patiently. If you think there will be snuggles tonight, think again.
They loved their Thinking People this morning, though. They loved to talk about what came before and what will come after. She thinks about that a lot. She is sure that Her Grandmother is alive in Her heart, and She hopes She will be alive in someone's heart after She dies. Since She had good people before She was born, She is a happy person. She thinks love is the most important thing, and She loves a lot. She loves us, and we love Her. Even Kasey, who acts like she doesn't. And She loves all Her Grandchildren, real and on computer, and She loves Her Eddie, who grew up without his Mom.
Since They are going away for their food tonight, I will love my kibbles. A warm good evening to you all.

Ghost House

Here's what He has been doing lately. He sleeps all day and stays up all night working on His writing and reading. It gives us all the creeps. She says She feels as if She lives with a ghost. Oh, She laughs when She says it, but I can tell it is not really funny to Her. Not Eddie-funny. He gets up in the morning, feeds the birds, gets Her paper, and He eats His breakfast. If She is not up, He stands in the kitchen and eats it. He doesn't do that if She is awake, because She doesn't like when people eat standing up, unless it is that kind of party. He goes back to bed and gets up for lunch. In another hour, He goes back to bed. He gets up before supper, and is happy about how well He sleeps. She goes (snerk) at that, because He says He has trouble sleeping at night. Well, of course He does, She says. She has to figure out a way to get Him to stay awake all day. Tomorrow is ThinkingMeeting day, which is a good start, and then there is something later on at suppertime. He will have to stay awake for those things, and if He sleeps tomorrow night, we might get back in our routine. Maybe it is because it is so hot outside. It is nice and cool in here, though. To be perfectly fair, I sleep a lot in the daytime, too, and so does Kasey. It is so we can be available for snuggles and massages in the night. We are definitely not ghosts. We are going to wake Him up for His supper now, so Poodle Tip. (Get it?)

Newsy Cats

Here is the news today. She stayed up so late last night that She was sleepy this morning, and I had to put my cold nose on Her face to wake Her up. After all, a cat needs attention in the morning, don't you agree? I can't get butter for myself, and Kasey cannot get her own treats. Oh, He was up, but He was occupied with the paper that tells what is on TV. He likes to make red checks on the little book, so He knows what to watch and what to tape. So I managed to get Her up, and She wasn't even mad about it. I know I have more charm than my rude sister.
This is the day before school starts around here, and She was talking about it all day. I think She does not really believe She is not a teacher anymore. Here She is, ten years later, and thinking of things She would be doing if She went back to teaching. If you saw her trying to get around without falling down, and groaning and oofing when She stands up, you would know that teaching is no job for Her. Besides, She has cats to take care of, and grandchildren to care about and Eddie shows to watch. She needs to stay right here at home! She tells us She wants to go back and see Her OperaGirl, but I want Her to stay home, so I tell Her to buy a lot of things from Her catalogs so She will not have the money to go! I am a very clever cat, as well you know. Now She is telling Him She has to go back when Ollie'sDad and his lady go to OG's house. We'll just have to see. That's all the news for now. The rest you will have to find out later. Ah-dyou.

Two Happy Cats

I don't know about you, but I love a day like this. A regular day with butter and treats and lots of time to play and snooze and get pets. No company today. No strange food and nobody upset. A perfect day for cats. He went to His book writers' meeting this morning. She loves that, because He is happy and excited about it. She likes it when He has something to do that makes Him interested.
She was doing some shopping on Her computer. She loves to search out bargains and find just the right thing for presents. Tody She was looking for birthday presents for some special people. I can't say who, or what She got, because it has to be a secret, like it was for Smudge'sMom. One present She got today was a little thing for Mable'sMom, to celebrate the start of school.. She and M'sM had a long talk today about the beginning of school. They were laughing, but even after 10 years, She misses school. After all, She told me, I went to school since I was 4 years old. It feels natural to me. But She is glad She doesn't have to go to M'sM's school, because it sounds very hard. She calls it too complex for Her now.
Do you remember what day this is? It is gumbo day. Perfect tasting supper for a happy cat. Chow.

Her Happy Day

After the happy day She had yesterday, I was not that sure Her day would be equal to that, but it certainly was. It was Her day to go and visit Smudge'sMom, to help her finish some of the party food, and to have tea. Smudge'sMom has this remarkable tea that comes in silk teabags, and She just loves that. In fact, She has some of that tea Herself. S'sM's older girl was there, and the three of them laughed together and ate nice things, and told stories about things that have happened, and laughed some more! It was a perfect afternoon, but She had to get home. Mazie's oldest brother was coming over, and She felt like She ought to be home. When She got settled, and told Him about Her nice afternoon, the phone rang, and it was Her OperaGirl! Oh, She was chuffed. They had a nice talk, while OperaGirl waited on line to see their beloved Eddie. And Her OG is going tomorrow night, as well, and maybe Her Eddie will sign the lovely picture OG made. Well, at least She hopes he will. Then Mazie's oldest brother arrived with his partner, and they all had another lovely talk. They both just love these guys, and enjoyed their visit. I almost wonder if She is all talked out. Kasey says that can never happen, but then Kasey tends to be rude.
And for me, one more wonderful thing today. Fish for dinner, so I will celebrate this perfect day with a nice taste of fish. NomNom.

Hiding Cats

We had to hide, even though there was no thunder today. The thing is, She was happy and singing and so cheerful that we should have known it meant people coming over. She opened the front door, and Kasey immediately took her I'm going to escape mode. I didn't realize that there were people coming up the walk and into the house. They were lovely people, and She was so very happy that they were here, but I went to hide in the closet Oh, no! The door was closed. She even picked me up and let me meet them, especially the gitl in the black clothes. I let her pet me, but I had to run away. The girl wanted to play with me, and I was a bit scaredy.
The people are very special to Her, and She was looking forward all day to their visit. Both girls and their Mom were the same amount of tall, so I couldn't tell who was the older girl, but She asked one about Middle School and one about college. The older girl was the one who brought some chocolate and some coffee-the-drink. She was chuffed about that. These people don't have cats, because cats make them sneeze and sniffle. It is probably all for the best that I didn't stay out there and play with the littler girl. Perhaps I will give that girl another chance, because She says these people are especially nice. I will go get some snuggles now, and tell Her I am sorry I was a hiding cat. byebye.

Foodie Cats

You know, She belongs to this group that sends her papers that give her money off things. A while ago She got a paper that said that someone would deliver a lot of food to Her. A whole day of food, they said. Well, today was the day the food came, and of course Kasey and I had to check it out. One box had a waffle with those blue berries She likes so much. There was creamy stuff ro put on the waffle, and I was licking my chops, but She didn't open that. What She opened was the box that had a salad with meat and little tiny pieces of bread. Sort of like a sandwich salad. The stuff they sent to put on that was pretty good, even if I didn't get a very big taste. There are still some boxes left to open, and I am most interested in the one that smells like shrimp. The creamy waffle stuff should work for me as well. As usual, Kasey sniffled everything and walked away, but I could see the box with the shrimp really got her attention. The food people said they would send Her food every day, if She wanted it. She said no thanks to them. It is a very nice thing to have someone fix all your food. I can agree on that. But I don't have to pay for mine, and She does not intend to pay for Her food, except at the store.
She is very lonesome for all Her grandchildren. Mazie is in Alaska, LW and her sibs are starting school pretty soon, Her far-away girls are very busy, and Eddie is finishing his play and going back to his over-the-ocean-house. So some of Her in-town girls are coming tomorrow, and She is going to Smudge's house on Friday. Those things are bound to cheer Her up.. Wait. She is opening another box of food. I think it's chicken! Later, gator.

Told You So

There are people and cats who have laughed at me because I am sure that thunder does lots of damage. Yesterday, late in the afternoon, but long before dinner, the thunder rattled so loud that even He and She noticed it. That sounded close, He said, and then the electric went off. The computers turn off automatically when the lights go off, but when the lights came back on, the computers would not work right. No messages, no anything, including no story from me. I was kind of bummed about that, because I tried to tell them that thunder is bad for you, and They just say It will be OK, Coffs. Well now They know.
So a lot of time today was getting the computers to work again. The guy on the phone said he could send someone out Thursday, but that almost made Her scream. I need it today, She told the guy. The guy gave Her all the steps to take, and She wrote them down, but She couldn't make it work, so He went through all the steps, and just look! Everything works again.
If you were planning to write Him or Her an email, go ahead, because all is well again - at least in the computer department.
From now on, when I worry about something, I'll bet you five kibbles that They listen to me. Hmf. It is good to be right.

Kasey Yows

You know about Kasey. She is generally quiet and sniffy, without too much interest in events around here. As long as she gets her treats, she kind of disappears. Well, today was different. She started yowing and running about, going from the front door to the back door, yowing and doing it all again. I guess you didn't have to be Garfield to know she wanted to go out. Lately, Kasey has made a few escapes, and has learned there is grass to eat outside. He is sometimes tempted to let Kasey out, because He sees she is in distress, and He likes everything to be nice. It is She who is afraid that if Kasey goes out, somethng bad will happen to her. The name She gives us is sheltered cats. That is fine for me, because I think I remember some bad things before we came to live here. Well, She sent Him to the store to buy some grass to grow in the house, because what if Kasey has a tummy ache and that's why she wants the grass. I know something is wrong, because Kasey let Mazie's biggest brother skritch her ears, and tho only person she lets do that is the CatMagic girl who is LW's biggest sister. Not even He can give skritches to Kasey.
Well, They had fun at Smudge'sMom's party, but They didn't see Smudge. They said our auras were there, so I guess it is all just fine. One thing She can't wait for is to see if Smudge'sMom likes the birthday presents we picked out. I'll let you know. ToodlePip.

Aura-cle Cats

We have pretty good auras for a couple of inside cats. We found that out from Her. She is very aware of auras, because She can't be everywhere at once. For instance, Her OperaGirl and two other darlings of Hers are going to see their beloved Eddie in his play, just like She did a month ago. She can't be there, because She and He have to be at a party for Smudge'sMom, who is having a special birthday party. She needs Her body here to be at the party, so She sends Her aura to OperaGirl's house, to go with them tonight. Well, Kasey and I aren't going to either place, so She agreed to take our aura's to Smudge's house and send our aura's to our cousins, Lion and Nick. And we still have auras left to stay here and snooze while they are gone!
Our cousin Katy-next-door did not learn anything from my warnings to her yesterday. When They went out today, Katy tried to come in, and Kasey got out! It is nice and cool in our house, and very hot outside. Kasey would have been yowing to come in if He hadn't picked her up, and Katy went back out by her own decision. All of us were back where we belong.
I hope our auras get something good to eat at Smudge's house, because Their food here is not what we like. Too much onion and not enough fish. So kibble it is. cheery-bye.

Cats on Guard

We try to keep our house and grounds secure, which has its drawbacks, since we don't go outside - much to Kasey's disgust - Every so often, one of our cousins comes around and we have to yow. Today our cousin Katy-next-door was relaxing in our back yard, watching for some tasty birds, when she decided to come and look into the window. Luckily, I was on the windowsill, and could bat her away, although it was especially hard, with the glass in between us. If the glass had not been there, Katy would have gotten any number of biffs and smacks. And I believe she heard me yow, because I was very serious about it. Even She came to see what the fuss was about, and gave me my props for keeping Him and Her safe. It earned me some extra butter, and maybe it taught Katy a lesson. We'll see.
Other than that, She was in a fret today, because She can't find one of those papers that She gets for food that only costs half as much as it's supposed to. It is for pizza, and that is Her favorite. She was grumpy about paying for the paper and then losing it. Whose fault is that. I ask you. She will be all cheered up in a while, because Mazie's biggest brother is coming over again, and She is chuffed about it. I think that Her heart is at Her OperaGirl's house tonight, because some more friends will be there. I must go back to the window now, just in case...........TTYL

Peruvian Cats

No, we are not from a place called Peruvia, but today She went to a place to eat, and it was Peruvian food, which She brought home for us to try. It is very pretty and pink, with big shrimp in it, and rice and a big piece of fish. Don't tell Her, but I would like it better without the pretty pink sauce, and Kasey won't touch it unless She washes it off, but She said the sauce was what makes it so very special. It is creamy sauce, so maybe I will give it a taste, just to be polite. She says it doesn't cost so much to eat away from home if you bring home enough for a whole other meal.
The day started with Her right chuffed that Deena'sGirl sent her a video of Her beloved Eddie doing a funny part of his show. She seems to be kind of famous for being a Gran to Eddie. One of Her Eddie-Friends has a little boy who needs to raise money for his school to win a prize. She sent him some money, and he was excited that it came from Eddie'sGran.
He took His mother someplace again today, because she can't hear. What She said is who cares, but He thought it would help her make friends if she could hear. The doc says there is nothing wrong with her ears, she is just old. It is a puzzle to Her that He keeps trying to solve this problem, when there isn't any way to solve it. He comes home so worn out, it makes Her sad. But that won't last long! There is fish, shrimp and rice, plus ice cream with blue berries. Who wouldn't be cheered up by that. Oh, I know: Cleo'sGirls! Shrimp is calling me. Oddy-ose.

A Happy Day

There She is, all decked out in Her new teeth. It is bound to be a good day for Her. She had a fun lunch with Her beloved Crones, for one thing. They went to a place where there were about a hundred things to eat, and you can pick what you want. Then, you can go back and get some more, if you want. There is every kind of cake and pie, and even strawberries with chocolate on them. Kasey and I don't care for cake and pie, but we would have liked all the fish and meat. Do you know something funny? She has to get used to eating with Her new teeth! It made her concentrate on chewing, which was a new trick for Her. Don't worry. Her tummy was nice and full when She got home. Too full to eat the treat that Mable'sMom brought Her. For a really long time She and M'sM have been looking for a certain kind of ice cream with blue berries in it. Well, M'sM finally found some, and brought it to Her before lunch. She is waiting to get hungry again, so She can have some, and see if it is as good as She remembers.
He did a nice thing today for His mother. She likes these certain books, and He took her to a place where the people study these books and talk about them. Even though She thinks it is a waste of time, He thought it would make the old lady happy. His mother has no idea what a wonderful son He is. It makes Her sigh. Well, WE appreciate Him. Bye for now.

New-Teeth Cats

The topic for today is New Teeth. When Kasey and I were kittens, we lost our sharp little fangs and grew permanent ones, which we now display magnificently when we yawn. Long, white spikes that can hold the friskiest mouse. We couldn't see why She was so happy about getting new teeth. Oh, they look nice and everything, but they are hardly fangs. If She wants to eat a mouse, She will be out of luck. But if She wants to chew some crunchy stuff, She will be fine. When I look at her new teeth, it is hard to remember what it looks like when they are gone. I guess that is because they look normal in Her mouth. Those teeth were missing when Her OperaGirl took the lovely picture of a very happy She with Her beloved Eddie, and that's the first thing She sees when She looks at the picture. He says to Her, Don't be silly. Your smile looks real, and what you should look at is how nice Your Eddie looks. You could swear Eddie is very fond of You when You look at that picture. When He said that, She got tears in Her eyes, but don't tell Her I told you that.
So tonight She is going to celebrate with some barbecue beef and some sweet-potato fries. That's what She told Him. He only gets to eat the sweet-potatoes, though. That barbecue sauce kind of spoils the meat for me, but there is always kibbles, which I will chew with my fine, white cat-teeth. Chow, bellas.

Best Intentions Cats

We woke up bright and early, and helped Her make Her to-do list. She has been feeling kind of bummed today, and we think it is because She misses Her beloved Eddie-Friends. You remember She saw them when She was visiting with Her OperaGirl, and they were seeing Eddie in a play. Kasey said C'mon! Aren't you ever getting over that trip? Kasey tends to be rude, like that. I told Her Let's get going on that list. She got cleaned up and dressed, ready to go, and then She did -- nothing.
She put a heart-shaped thing on her to-do list and read messages. That always cheers Her up. Then She ate Her lunch, and I gave Her some snuggles and a brief massage and She worked some puzzles. It is a sure sign that Her intentions started out good, but then Her don't-do-anything muscles whipped into action. Well, that's OK, because the rest of the week is full of fun things. She is excited that tomorrow She gets her new fake teeth. And after all, Her intentions were good.
Our cousin Nick is kind of in trouble. She says Nick is a very handsome cat, but his Mom wants to get rid of his long, long hair, because it has snags in it. At least I only get brushings, because my hair is not long. Nick is his beautiful and I am my beautiful. And Kasey looks OK. I have to go see if She is all cheered up, now. Later, gator.

A Bunch of Things

There are so many things for me to tell you today, that I don't know where to start. He went off to his meeting with the writers, and they like His story. I should have Him take mine sometime. She was all happy because of LW being back, and speaking to Mazie on her birthday, and having Mazie's biggest brother come over. The only thing that bummed Her out today was Her OperaGirl getting a sore leg from all her walking. OG will fix this, I told Her, because OG knows a lot about walking, and lots of other things. Tonight He is going to see a movie with Mazie'sBB, and that has Her tickled pink, because they have been friends for a long time and we love him. Besides it does Him good to go out and do things.
Kasey and I did a little chasing and yowing today, but mostly we rested up. Later when it started to rain I didn't get too nervous, but then a very loud thunder came, and it sounded like it was in the back yard. That kind of thunder can cause leaks in the closet, unless I go in there and check it all out. You can hardly hear the thunder in the closet. It is actually quite cozy in there.
I don't know if She is making gumbo tonight, since He is going to see a movie, so I will have to go and check into what She is fixing out there. I think it is safe. The thunder is gone and the closet is nice and dry. No leaks. Buh-Bye Thanks you for flying with Coffee airlines. (snerk)

Cats on Duty

We didn't have a crazy chase game this morning, but we were both ready for Cat Duty. We watched out for Her while She went to get Her paper. He was fast asleep, so we had to be the helpers. He was up late again, and She thought it was because He has to go see His mother today. When that happens, He gets very sad, and either can't sleep or stays in bed. When he got home, for example, He went straight to bed.
He did feed the birds, though. We had about a million birds waiting for their seeds and they were really glad to see him. I think that cheered him up a little.
Her OperaGirl went to see our Eddie again yesterday. She goes with people who come to visit her, like She did. OG is a very good friend. Some more of Her Eddie-people are going there next week, and sure enough, OperaGirl is going again. While I was getting my brushing today, She told me about my cousins Lion and Nick. They have very long hair, and OG has to groom them with special tools. I leave a lot of hair on the furniture, but I love to get my brushing each day. I only worry when She takes the hair out of the brush and says there is enough to make a new cat. I don't really need a new cat. Kasey is enough trouble.
Well, She is hoping that Mazie had a nice birthday, and that LW and her family come home safely. It looks as if there will be some fun days ahead. Oh Revwar, mes amis.

Amusing Cats

We were very amusing today, according to Her. It started with a show involving two cats taking turns chasing each other, with a certain amount of stalking involved. She really laughed at us when I was keeping watch on the kitchen to pounce on Kasey when she came through, only to have her sneak around and get on the Me-table, and laugh at me! Kasey was actually playing the game, and She was right chuffed. I needed five fingers of butter after all that.
Later, She went for a ride with Katy'sMom and Boy, and they saw a lady who is supposed to help Katy's boy feel better, but She says that lady is kind of cold. Not in how she feels, but in how she cares about Katy'sBoy. If you deal with children, you need to be warm, that's what She says. It is the same with cats, you know. If you are nice to them, they will be amusing. And if we snuggle, be sure and check for catfur on your clothes when you go to see people.
One nice thing is that Mazie's biggest brother is coming to see Him, maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow. That makes Him so happy, because They love everyone in Mazie's family. And tomorrow, Mazie will be 11 years old. I am sure Mazie will like the box of presents They sent, and will write them a note and draw a picture.
Here's what I have planned to make Her laugh a little later: I will run after Her and at the last minute, I will jump on the back of the rocking chair, and it will wiggle back and forth. That always amuses Her. Then She'll give me a taste of Her dinner. (snerk)

Hot Cats

Today the temperature thing said 104, and She says it makes you sweat just to hear that number. Kasey and I do not sweat. We have fur coats, in fact. The thing is, we never go outside. Oh, that wicked Kasey tries to go out, but mainly, we are here in the air conditioning. That means we are always comfy. It makes Her laugh to see me find a nice, sunny place to have a snooze. She says we live in an artificial world. Do you know who does go out?
He and She do. They have errands to do, and so They go and get into Their cars and go to where They need to be, then They walk outside to the place. When they get there, it is air-conditioned. After Their errands are done, They get back in Their cars and come home, where it is air-conditioned. That is the I say They would not last a minute in the real world. And She tells us WE are spoiled.
One thing She did on Her errand today was to get our supply of treats and things to eat for a few weeks. Then She paid Their electricity bill. That is when She told me about all the air-conditioning. I can't wait until when it gets cool again, and the air-conditioning is free. She is out there fixing something for Her dinner. Let's go check on that, OK? TTYL.

Smashburger Cats?

This was the big adventure for today: She went with a couple of our cousins' Moms to have lunch at a place named Smashburger. Kasey and I think that is a really funny name for a place to eat, and we fell about laughing when She said that was the name of the place. I think it is not a pretty name, Like Tea Room or Salad Garden. But She tells Him that it is the best hamburger She has ever had.
When She was looking at Her letters today, there was a picture of a cute little kitten, and She told us to come look at it. In this picture, someone is running a finger down the little kitten's belly, and He covers his face wiith his paws. She moved the picture to where Her Eddie friends would see it, and some of them said it was cuter even than Eddie. Now THAT is some cute kitten.
Every day some new catalogs come, and She looks at each one, to see if there is something Her darlings would like to have. It is a big lot of weeks until Christmas, but She has already picked out some things to give for presents. Kasey and I are easy to please. We want treats, butter, and maybe a catnip mouse. But that is too long way off, so I will not think about it. I'll leave that to Her, and concentrate on things closer to now, like is my bowl full of kibbles. I think that when a person goes to Smashburger for lunch, a cat cannot expect a very good dinner to sample. I saw Her looking at eggs, for instance. I'll stick with kibbles, thank you very much. Toodles.

Most Part Cats

For the most part, this was a kind of day we like around here. That means no appointments, no big stuff to do, just kind of have a nice day - He is working on His book, and She is talking to Her friends, online and off. They even got an invitation to a nice party at Smudge's house. Smudge'sMom is having a birthday, and it will be a lot of fun. In case Smudge'sMom reads my story today, I can't say anymore about the present They got for her. It is a surprise.
To keep the day from being a lovely, fun day, She got the message that another dear friend and Crone died. That is the third friend and Crone this year. It took the starch out of Her, for sure. At least this lady was not younger than Her, like the last two. This lady had been sick for a long, long time. She had problems with her breathing, and her family said she went peacefully. Take our blessings where we can find them, Coffs, is what She told me.
It did cheer Her up to find that one of Her VGrandchildren was going to get to see Eddie at OperaGirl's, just like She did. It made Her happy to hear about it, and She is waiting for more pictures and stories about the trip. I guess when something makes you sad, it is lucky to find something to make you smile, like a party or a friend's trip. So it ended up a good day, for the most part. Later, gator.

Cats' Surprise

What a wonderful surprise! He and She have some friends who live halfway around the world. They had a visit with them a lot of weeks ago, and She really loves those people. WELL! Today, They got a phone call from the guy who is the Dad of that family. The guy came here for his work, and he came over to visit them. She was so chuffed that She almost started to cry, She was so happy. The guy came to return a DVD from their last visit, and the three of them talked for a long time. Since he is a very busy guy, She understood that he had to go, but oh, how She loved seeing him! The guy will come back with his darling family in a lot more weeks.
Another surprise was when the guy was leaving, Kasey went out the front door. It was a big surprise, because she never did that before. I guess Kasey thought that They would be so happy about Their visitor that They wouldn't notice. Well, They did, and He went out and picked Kasey up - which she doesn't like - and brought her in. I thought They should just leave her out there, but He seems to love her for some reason.
You know, She hardly ever cries, and when She does, it is when She is happy. That seems odd to me, because it seems backwards. You can live with People, but good luck understanding them
All the excitement has made me hungry, so I'll sign off for now. Bye.
