Halloween Cats

Our cousin, Ollie, is a black cat, and his dad says He will rent Ollie out for witches to use. That made us a bit nervous, until She told us Ollie'sDad was only joking. Ollie will be nice and safe, just like we will. He and She will see that all the kids who come to the door will leave us alone, and He will watch closely that Kasey does not escape. Little does Kasey know that this is a scary night for cats. Last year, She told us that cats need to be safe inside, but Kasey only thinks about eating grass outside, and doesn't think anyone would play a trick on her. In fact, we are hoping our cousin Katy knows to stay away from the rascally kids. Not the cute little kids, but the big, rascally ones.
She went to the store and got candy to give to people who come to the door and say trick or treat. That's the secret code for getting candy.
By now, Her beloved OperaGirl is back from her adventure where people make a big fuss over her nice pictures. She will probably check with Her tomorrow. And Her beloved Cleo'sGirl is back from seeing the big rally. Today She found out that Mazie and her family were there, too. So, counting 2 Cleo'sGirls, 1 Mazie and 1 Eddie, She had 4 grandchildren at the big rally. She is chuffed about that.
Good news for me is that She is fixing a little pie for Her dinner. Little pies have gravy and meat in them. And I have been a good cat all day, so.......Nom. Have a nice Halloween, and watch out for cats. Bye.

New Day Cats

This is the start of a new day, She told me. His mother is safe in he new place, her stuff is in storage, He has done all the complicated money stuff, and We can all work on our next part of the year. They have a nice movie to watch, She has gumbo on the stove, and Kasey and I are all set for some naps before lap-time. There is a big party at LW's house tonight, but They are too tired to go anywhere. Wait until you get old, Coffs, She told me. You don't have the pep you used to have. Kasey and I are eight years old, which means we are still young enough to have pep. Especially Kasey. Kasey can jump from the pass-through to the table in one leap. and not be tired.
She watched a funny show today. Cleo's girls were at that show and will tell Her all about it when they get home. She thought it was a great show, because it was more about being nice than just being funny. She said Her beloved Eddie went to that show, but She didn't see him. It is not because he isn't from the US, because there were other British guys there. Perhaps Eddie just likes things where they tell people not to be doofuses.
So She has been looking around this room. She is ready to finish sorting out the stuff in the gift closet, where She will see if She needs to get anything else for Her beloved Grandchildren. I think He and She need to get some stuff for Their beloved cats. That's what I think.
Gumbo night means no meat for loyal cats. Hmmf.

Relieved Cats

Whew. Things will soon be back to normal around here. His mother went to the new place today, and He has been taking her things over there. But everything is ready for this new chapter. One thing that has made Her very grumpy is that the old place where l'ancienne lived charged a whole month rent. It was in the contract, but She didn't think it included all the extra stuff. Well it did. You don't want to get Her upset about money. She forgets She is supposed to be a nice, loving person. But it is done, and the new place is paid for, and the only thing left is putting His mother's stuff in storage. He will be due for a very nice rest. Since the fixing guy fixed the TV, it should be a nice evening. Especially for me, because She is having fish. Nom!
Her OperaGirl is off on a trip to get to show her pictures, and Her Cleo'sGirls are off to see a big celebration about being nice to everyone, and not being rude and nasty. She can't wait to hear what all those travelers have to report. Unless it involves Her beloved Eddie, She just has to stay at home. She really doesn't care, She says. Do you know what vicarious means? She says it is enjoying your own life and other people's lives as well. That is an OK way to do things, She says, especially if you are pretty old.
There is a lot to be relieved about. His mother, Her Girls, the TV, and fish for dinner. Whew.

Cats Lie Low

Kasey and I will be so glad when all this moving business is over! It is always busy busy busy around here, and only a few more days to get it all done. She keeps hoping that His mother will be all settled and happy, but that lady has not been happy anywhere, so She says we will just wait and see.
The TV is broken, and the man who fixes TVs will not be here until tomorrow. She says we can watch DVDs of Her beloved Eddie. He is not so keen on that, although He likes Eddie. If you want to be friends with Her, you pretty much have to. The TV helps Him relax, so this is not a good time for it to break at all. She told us that LW's TV is broken, too. Maybe we should all just pet our cats and let it go at that. Very relaxing.
One of Her OperaGirl's friends sent Her a CD of him singing. It sounds wonderful, and She has already played it a couple of times. Her OG is going on a trip to where people are going to look at the pictures she takes. You know this room where I am is full of pictures Her OG has taken, and there is a big one more in the living room. I like it, because She smiles every time She looks at it. I guess you know it is about Her and Eddie.
I am afraid She ate Her lunch so late that She will just want soup for Her dinner. If I play my cards right, I might get a little slurp of that soup. Toodle Pip, everyone.

Cats and Crones

It looks as if They are inching closer to getting this moving-mom thing done. There are so many little details that I have to get my pets in the middle of the night! But things look better today, because She will have a nice visit with Her Crones. These are such wonderful, wise ladies that She feels better when She sees them, no matter what. I'm sure to get lap-time when She gets home.
Kasey and I have been worried about our little cousin, BabyBoy that lives at Smudge's house. Smudge'sMom took him for that fixing thing, and he is being slow about getting better. We are sending him cat-energy, and he will be better tomorrow. Smudge and fRaNkie got so scared when their Mom brought out the carrier for Baby that they ran and hid. We might very well do the same thing. I know Kasey would. When He and She brought us home from the esspeeceeay, Kasey made a hole in the box and got out into the car. That meant She had to hold her, and we all know how Kasey feels about that.
Another thing She wants to do is to get everything done so She can have lunch one day with Deena'sMom. It is not long until D'sM goes on a long ride in a plane to see her kids. I have never been on a plane, but She has, lots of times. She says it used to be fun, but now it is more like work.
Since She will not be home for Her dinner, It will be very ordinary kibbles for me. Oh, well. Chow, bellas.

Cats Who Think

In the midst of all the flurry of activity of things that must be done, He and She spent a wonderful morning with Their Thinking Friends. He and She say it is like therapy, going to talk and listen with people who are smart, sensible and loving. You can be sure of that, because the place where They go has a beautiful cat. I guess She doesn't know how to spell the name of that cat, because She never writes it down. It was a good question about whether the good people will win, or the greedy, selfish people. They all seem to wish it will be the good guys, but the others have more money, which They say gives people power. Kasey and I think the people who love cats are the best people, and everything should go their way. She says we can't vote.
He picked up His mother's new car today, and got insurance for it. It has so many things - He calls them bells and whistles - that it will take awhile to learn them all. I looked out the window, and did not see one single bell or hear even one whistle. Humans talk funny sometimes. Lucky for Him, He is smart, and will learn all the new stuff.
A few dozen more phone calls, and they will relax. It looks like everything is going to be done in time for His mother to move. Well, at least she will be closer, so They don't have to drive so far.
Dinner tonight is chicken, and I think She is making potatoes that are orange instead of white. I think I will pass them up and just mooch some chicken. Cheerio, friends.

Monday Cats

I already told you this would be a busy week. They woke up ready to do stuff, and were busy all day. I had all I could do to get some snuggles in, and Kasey almost gave up on getting treats. But it all has worked out OK, and He and She will be ready to eat Their dinners and relax. Here is something that will help with that relaxing. One of Her Eddie Grandchildren sent her a bunch of music from the band named One Horse that I told you about before. She has been listening all afternoon, while She does Her work. He came in and listened, too. He needed something nice, because He had to take His mother to the doctor about her ears again. She says she isn't sure about her new place to live, but all the arrangements are made. She will be glad for a break from all the stuff when He and She go to see Their Thinking People.
One new thing She found out is that Her church is moving to a place that sounds nice. She was reminding Him that the new place is right next door to where that church had its first meeting, when it wasn't a church yet. She thinks that is kind of like a sign. She says it gives her hope. I think that is nice for Them.
Katy'sGirl came over with stuff that She had bought a long time ago. To tell you the truth, I believe She had forgotten about it. What a nice surprise, to get something you forgot you bought. Do you know what She said? She said This is really nifty. What a funny thing to say. Oh, well. You know how She is. I must go check on the dinner now. Toodles.

Confident Cats

It has been a nice day around here, since the His-mother-thing was in the waiting mode, and They were at home with us. One especially nice thing was that a really nice person came over, They had a nice visit and the visitor was so nice that I actually did not go and hide. This time is was Kasey who went into the closet, but it wasn't about the visitor. Kasey just loves to climb onto the highest shelf in the closet and jump into a box that is up there. It is her way of saying leave me alone. But I could tell right away that this was a nice person. She had a way about her that told me that she knew about cats and understood us, and would not be noisy or rough. I waited for awhile before I got really close, but I was confident that the visitor was good. I think the visitor, who is Boru'sMom came to talk to Her about Her church. It is time to tell them how much money He and She will pay to belong to the church. It so happens that She did most of the talking about the church. She said the church was Her sweet baby, and She and the others made it grow strong and healthy - but then it became a teenager, and started behaving like its parents didn't know anything. It will grow out of it one of these days, She said. Boru'sMom agreed with that, and they talked about other stuff.
I am confident that He will get what He needs to fix the TV, since the thing that tells the TV what to do doesn't work any more. It is not about the batteries, either. It just doesn't work. I hope they get it fixed so I can get a lot of good lap time. I'll let you know.

New Car Cats

Since His mother insists on living forever, They are worried She will run out of money, because the place where she lives costs a lot of dollars. The guy they went to see about that said They needed to get rid of all her money so the special money will cover it. The trouble is, they have to spend it on her or it won't count. Well, she doesn't need anything, so the guy said to buy her a car. Of course, He will have to drive it for her because His mom can't drive. She can't even walk. So that's what They did today. He and She went to a car store and bought a beautiful new car. They didn't bring it home yet, but they did everything else, so they can just go and pick it up when they want to. I'll tell you the truth, She is really tired because of trying to spend all this money. I can't wait until it is all spent and things are peaceful again. It will do Her good to talk to Smudge'sMom about it next week. Of course, She is still keeping up with Her beloved Grandchildren, which keeps her from being sad about all of this.
She is also glad that the boy who picked on Katy'sBoy got some help with his fighting problem. People who pick on other kids need real help, plus being away from nice kids.
No gumbo today, because She has meat left over from Her lunch. I am sure She will offer me a bite, because She knows She left us alone today while They bought a new car. Ah- dyoo for now.

Whirlwind Cats

It is like a whirlwind around here because they are getting ready to put His mother into a new place to live. Yes, They are putting her there, not just helping her move, and l'ancienne is giving Them a hard time about it. It makes things very swirly around here, with a lot of phone calls, papers, forms, things to buy, things to sell, and balancing time and money. She still keeps saying If Only.............
Since all these things have to be done in the next week, She will not have time to do some fun things - but She wants to go to Thinking Day and Her beloved Crones. He says We'll see, but She is going to try very hard to have a nearly-normal week. HAH.
One of Her Eddie friends has sent Her a CD of this wonderful band, and She is so excited about that. I think the band has a funny name, though. It is named One Horse. If She had a band, She would name it One Cat. Or maybe Two Cats, so Kasey would not get mad.
There is a lot of talk about voting, and She is so glad She already voted. It would be hard to go and vote with this whirlwind life going on.
She is going out for dinner with Mable'sMom, so I won't get anything good besides my kibbles. He eats vegetables, and I am not interested. I'll check back tomorrow. Buh=bye.

Persistent Cats

A lot of weeks ago, Kasey got out into the back yard and she ate a bunch of grass. They thought it was kind of cute, until Kasey resisted coming back in. Since then, He has to shut Kasey in the bedroom when He goes out to feed the birds. Kasey still goes to that door, jumps up on the little cabinet there, and sniffles at the doorknob. If she could, she would open it with her paw. He and She think that is amazing. Kasey hasn't been out for a long time, and she still waits at the door. What She says is that Kasey is persistent. That means she doesn't give up. In people, that is a good thing, but in cats, well, Kasey will be sniffling that doorknob when she is an old, old cat. There is a movie about Her beloved Eddie that says you have to believe and keep working on your plan. Who knows. One day Kasey may figure out how to get out there, and then she will eat her heart's desire of grass. I am persistent about a lot of things, too. I know how to remind Them when I need water or kibbles. She knows - if I jump up on Her, and jump down, then up again, then down - well, you get it. She checks my bowls.
He is still working on getting His mother in the old person's place. There are a lot of details. He is good at details, but it does make him knackered. It makes Her knackered, too, but mostly because He is so worried. If only, She says, if only.........but She doesn't say if only what. Maybe you know. Mmmm. She's finishing up the leftover pizza. Good cheese for cats. Toodles.

Purple Cats

A lot of people decided to wear purple clothes today and here is why. Some nice kids in school have a problem with other guys making them miserable by making fun of them, or even beating them up. Some kids get so sad about this that they decide not to live anymore, even though they have lots of years ahead that they could live, if they wanted. It makes Her really upset and angry. She used to teach kids and tried to keep kids from hurting each other's feelings - or worse. It is hard for schools to take care of this, because there is a lot to do in schools, so they kind of hope it will go away when the kids get older. Except, She says, even if they don't stop living, they get sore places on their hearts forever. She even thinks that is why I am so scaredy-cat, but I don't really want to talk about that. You can imagine how sad She was when Katy'sBoy got picked on at his school. He is afraid to tell the people, but She says he must get it on the record. The people who run the school might think he is a big boy and shouldn't get picked on, but he is a lovely, sweet boy. If they do decide to tell, and if that nice boy gets hurt, She will see that the police get called and the fighting boy goes to joovie, whatever that is. She is mad and sad about this, and is glad She is wearing purple about it. nasty kids must be stopped, and then maybe get help. That's what She says, anyway. She decided to have some pizza, because that is Her favorite, and She needs to feel better. I'm going to give Her some snuggles. So long for now.

Trusting Cats

In order for us not to run out of money for taking care of His mother, They listened to a guy who figured out how to be sure to have enough by making a trust. That is what She told me, and I believe Her, because She is very particular about money. It means His mother will move to a new place that is close to our house - but not too close. He still has to drive there. This afternoon a guy explained it all to them, and She gets it. He is still a little confused, but if He has a list and does one thing at a time, it will work just fine. I asked Her to put Feed Cats first on the list. Just a few more things and everything is fine, even if L'ancienne lives another 25 years. She is convinced that His mother will do that, just to make Her scream. I don't know if She is joing or not.
They stopped for something to eat on Their way home, and She showed me a sandwich with chicken coming out the sides. It looks as if I will get a bit of a reward for letting them leave me alone for such a long time. I trust Her to do that for me.
Everyone is talking about the nice weather here, but it is raining where Her beloved Eddie lives. She writes letters on the computer to people that live there, too. It is also nice where Her OperaGirl lives, so she can practice for her next walk. So it is a mostly good day today, and Kasey and I are trusting cats. ByeBye.

Good Citizen Cats

It seems as if there is a big election to choose people to help run the country. She doesn't want to change things, so She went and voted before the real voting day, to be sure She could get Her vote and let people know. It was a long line, She said, but not as long as it will be if She waits two more weeks. She met some nice people in line, but She didn't ask them who they were voting for. Most people around here doon't vote like She does, and She didn't want to make a fuss.So now that job is finished, and She is knackered.
She is also excited for Deena'sGirl, who has moved to a whole different country. Deena'sMom is going over there to see D'sG's new home, and to play with her grandbabies. What She says is the plane ride will be very long, so She will tell D'sM to take some good books - and maybe a puzzle or two. It doesn't matter that She doesn't get to go. She is so happy for the rest of those guys.
What He had to do today was take His mother around to see a new place for her to live. His mother had lunch at one of the places, but He says she didn't remember. Poor Him. He still doesn't know His mother is not all there. Now He wants to get her a hearing aid. It would be like getting a hearing aid for the lamp, is what She says.
She wants to think happy things, so She is still happy for Her OperaGirl walking about a million miles and still strong enough to go to her work. And She is happy that She voted. She says we are all good citizens at our house. We will celebrate by having chicken with our vegetables tonight! I'll celebrate that myself! Chow.

Good Weekend Cars

This has been a very nice day around here. Mostly quiet in the house, but exciting on this computer, as She has been so happy reading what people have said. Her OperaGirl finished the whole walk she was on, and She is so very proud of her. I am in good shape for a cat, and I could not walk so many miles, and to make it even harder, Her O.G. still has a cough and cold. What a brave, clever person O.G. is. Although She didn't say so, I think O.G.'s cats gave her some help with this walk-project.
She was also happy to see that LW'sMom and Dad will be back at their home today. They were far away to be sure LW'sMom could be a good minister, and it turns out that she can. It didn't surprise Her one bit. LW'sMom is a brave, clever person, too.
Then She saw pictures of His and Her dear friends who got married yesterday. It looked very charming, She said, and these friends deserve a lot of happiness.
So that has made it a nice weekend, with good shows on TV to finish it off. I will get some really good lap time, and will get a bit of Her little pie tonight. We will be all rested up so They can go and vote tomorrow. That means they will try to choose good leaders. It is an important thing to do. Both of Them say that. I can not vote, but I trust Them to pick the right leaders. Bone swar, chers.

Special Day Cats

Luckily for us, She has gotten over Her dreadful day feelings, so things are nice here today. Not that She would let His mother come here to live. That is completely off the table as an idea, and She is ready for plan B. He went around checking places where L'ancienne might live. (She taught me that in French. Nicer than *the old lady*) His mother won't like any of them, especially if she has to have a room mate.
But She had to miss the wedding of some good friends, because it was kind of far away, in a place where it is hard for Her to walk. The wedding people know that He and She sent them good wishes and a nice, cozy blanket, so that is OK.
Way over on the other side of the country, LW'sMom passed the last test for becoming a minister, and She is proud of that.
And of course She could not go to Her OperaGirl's house to see her walk a lot of miles for money for sick people. If She had been there, She would have cheered a lot for Her O.G. It is a wonderful thing to do and She is so proud of OperaGirl for walking all that way. It turns out that O.G. has to walk some more tomorrow, to finish the job. We are all sending love and energy for her and our cousins that help her rest.
So a lot of things happened today, and we are back to being lovey here. He is very glad She is not feeling dreadful any more. He says that money isn't worth that! She will be fixing gumbo for him today. I will hope for something better tomorrow. And She told me that it is not nice to say yuk. Sorry.

Dreadful Day Catsw

You can see that I didn't get to write my story yesterday. Here's why. She was having a dreadful day, and so She turned this computer off. I am a clever cat, but I can't turn it on by myself, as well you know. So let me get you caught up. First, you have to remember that His mother is in a special place for old people. You also need to remember that the old person place costs a lot of money. At this rate, He was afraid the old woman would run out of money. Goodness knows He and She couldn't pay for it. They went to see the guy that Smudge'sMom sent them to to figure out how to get help with that money business. Well, here's what the guy said for them to do. Use the o.l.'s money to pay for Their house, then have her come and live here with us. I bet that guy wishes he had not said that to Her, because She went into a hissy-fit, and refused to let that happen. If you know Her, you would understand. It was not a pretty experience. After She calmed down, the guy came up with a different idea, which was lucky for him! He and She will work on that new idea, and I'll tell you about it.
Luckily, She had some time with Katy'sMom and Katy'sBoy to make Her happy again. It was a good thing, because He was able to stay out of Her way while She was with them. She seemed OK today, so here I am. It looks as if there is fish for dinner, so I guess life is good again. Toodles.

Wise Cats

When you are as old as I am, Coffs, you will have so much wisdom that you won't be scared any more. That's what She was telling me this morning, while I was getting my brushing. I wish I could tell Her that it isn't anything He or She does that makes me scared. So I will look forward to becoming old and wise. Her group of very wise friends are Her beloved Crones, and She had lunch with them today. They are some of Her favorite friends, and She loved seeing them, and catching up on all the Crone talk. Smudge'sMom's YoungerGirl was there, and seemed quite grown up, and not at all silly. S'sM had pictures of her family and we were all excited to see how Smudge'sM's son looked just like him!
Just getting old doesn't make you wise, though, because His mother is even older than She is, and she isn't wise at all. She doesn't know what day it is, and calls Him to see what His clock says. He went to see her today, and took her out to eat lunch. It was not anywhere near as fun as Her lunch with Her Crones. Can you guess what He did when He came home? Yes, you are right. He went to bed.
Tomorrow They are going to see the guy who is helping them keep track of His mother's care. That is fine, except She has to get up so early. She doesn't like to do that, but She promised Him She would not be grumpy about it.
She had such a lot to eat at Her Crones' lunch that She is just having soup for Her dinner. Yuk. Oh, well. we DID have shrimp last night. TTYL.

Postal Cats

One of Her friends lives far away where Her Eddie lives, and this friend/grandkid doesn't feel well. She got the girl some American candy, and had to take it to the post office to send it so far. She loves to do things like that. The girl may not even like the kind of candy She sent, but She says it is the thought that counts. I helped Her get the package ready.
She also got a big package Herself. It has things for sending people, but not as far as Eddie's house. She wants to have all Her packages ready to send pretty soon. For one thing, it takes longer to send things when Christmas is coming. I will tell you another reasoon, which is a secret. Shhh. If She doesn't get the packages ready early, She keeps getting more things. Drat those catalogs!
She had a visitor today, after the post office. Her Music Guy'sWife came over and brought Her a shirt. Their Boy opened a coffee-the-drink shop and She now has a shirt from there. She is chuffed at that. I really liked the MG'sW, and didn't even go to the closet. Kasey didn't even come out.It is a lot of miles to the boy's shop, but He and She are going to go there one of these days. She will wear the shirt then, and everyone will laugh and be happy.
Katy'sMom sent over some meats for Them, and we had some for lunch. I don't know what is for supper, but I think I'll like it. I'll let you know.

Indignant Cats

We were a bit out of joint today, because She was being fussy. She had to find the paper that said She bought the little pie-with-green-fuzzy-spots at a certain place,. When She found it, She went to the store and got Her money back, but He still doesn't have his pie. She says She will get it at a different store, since She believes it was the store and not the cooks who let the pie get ruined. One thing that makes Her grumpy is when something disappoints Him, and He was really looking forward to that pie. So She will get Him a pie at another place.
She also feels sad that LW'sMom has to work so hard at her studies, when there is plenty to do being a Mom. Nothing we can do about that, you know, but She still feels sad. It will all be better in a little while She says.
Also in a little while, Her OperaGirl will feel better, and go on her long walk for sick people, and Katy'sMom will feel better so she can go to her new work. In a little while, She won't be grumpy anymore, and She will stop being prickly with people. She does not like to be prickly, because She loves all Her people, and wants to hug them instead of grumping. Luckily, She will be over it when She gets a couple of snuggles. She is going to send a package to one of Her EddiePeople when the Post Office opens tomorrow, and that will make Her tickled pink. I have to go and check out the dinner menu. Oh, good - it smells like meat. Toodles.

Warm-Heart Cats

Well, Her heart is warm, so our hearts are warm. First of all, She got a call from Cleo'sGirls, and talked to both of them. They were asking Her about good places to eat, but Her brain was a bit mushy, and She couldn't remember too many. But She was tickled pink to talk to them.
Next, She went and had coffee-the-drink with Mable'sMom. They used to get together a lot, but M'sM has to work so very hard that she is too busy to just chat. She is working all day, and then gets home and is too worn out One nice thing was that Mable'sMom told Her how to fix the speakers on Her computer so She can hear people talkinng or singing. She thought it was going to mean new stuff to buy, but it was easy the way M'sM told her to do it. All fixed.
Then She treated Herself to a warm-heart phone call to Her beloved OperaGirl, who is sick with a cold. She felt kind of sad that She made Her OG talk, with her sore throat, but She said that a warm heart is good medicine in the long run. What a delightful talk it was!
Tonight, She had a nice surprise for Him, because She got a vegetable pie for Him to have for His dinner. It turned out to be a bummer, because the vegetable pie had these green, fuzzy spots on it. She is going to take it back to the store and make a fuss, because She feels bad when He is disappointed. Her little pie was just fine, and there is chicken in it. Guess who's a happy cat now. Oddy-ose.

Moral Cats

Today She got a book in the mail, and it is named The Moral Landscape. She can't read it very fast, because her eyes have kind of a film that the doc will have to take off someday. Anyway, She is all excited about this book, because it has a lot of things He and She believe Kasey and I like it so far, because it kind of says that being moral is promoting well-being. That is something we can agree with. Our well-being is very moral, if you ask me. I'll let you know more when She rests Her eyes and reads some more. She already says that LW'sMom should read it.
Another thing that came in the mail is a package with some great cards in it. Her StefferGirl takes thes pictures and fixes them on cards that She can mail. They have cute sayings and make Her laugh. She had some before, and sent them all out, but that is hard, because She wants to keep them AND send them. Sometimes She goes on the computer to where there are pictures of all the cards and sits there laughing until He comes to see what is so funny, then He has to laugh, too
This is a good day for gumbo, She says, because He just loves that kind of food. It is all vegetables, of course, and though it smells really good, it is not especially cat-friendly. Well. He is a nice guy, so I guess it is OK for tonight, as long as there is chicken or fish tomorrow.

Comfort Cats

Today I needed more comfort than usual, and so did Kasey. I think it is because She did not eat Her breakfast at home. That means no butter for me. Kasey still got treats, but we like it when everything is the way it always is. I guess She needed comfort, too, because She went to have a comfortable visit with a favorite friend. This friend is a fellow Grandma, and the two of them have a lot that makes them the same. They both think the same things are funny. They both think that you need to have a good attitude to have a happy life, and they like a lot of the same people. She had Her breakfast and lunch at the same time when She was with Her friend. It seems as if She was gone a long time. When She came home, I got some more snuggles, and then every thing was comfortable again.
It is almost time for Her OperaGirl to go on her long walk to help sick people. What She says is the money Her OG raises will keep people from getting sick, kind of like why LW'sMom shaved all her hair off. What a nice thing to do. She gave money to both these Girls, but She would walk and shave if only She could. Her OperaGirl has a shirt with Eddie's name on it. I think Her OzGirl wants it very much and will pay a lot for it to help keep people from getting sick.
She is cooking some meat tonight, so they won't have the same food for dinner. That is much better for me. Vegetables, boo. TTYL. friends.

Business Cats

Today was all about business. You see, His mother is quickly running out of all her money, and has no intention of ever dying, so They went to see a guy that Smudge'sMom likes, because he takes care of business for old people. His mother is even older than She is. So this guy was going to visit His mother and get her to sign some papers. Since She has been through this before, She was really dreading it As a matter of fact, He said He needed Her to go along for helping Him be brave. The guy with the paper was very good with the old lady, but even he said it was like giving birth to triplets. See, She's not the only one. His mother wears Her out, which is why She hates to go see her. But the paper got signed, and now They can make the plans for the best way to not use up all her money. It seems curious to Her, but if Smudge'sMom thinks it will work, then so does She. Kasey and I really had to help Her today, because She was not chipper until They got home - with the signed papers.
Here's Her plan for supper. She is going to cook some mushrooms and onions. Then She will put them in baked potatoes and add non-fat sour cream. That is another vegetable dish that They can eat together. I'm afraid Kasey and I are not as happy as She is with this plan. Would it hurt to put in one shrimp? Oh, there WAS chicken in Her salad last night. Whew. O-Reevwar.

Brushed Cats

After She reads Her paper and we have our toast and butter, She like to come in and write notes to Her computer friends. Since I felt a bit in need of extra snuggles today, I jumped up on Her shoulder - like ya do - and got in Her way. She doesn't mind, really, because She stops writing notes and gives me a good brushing. I didn't come for the brushng, but I have to admit, it feels very good. I just wish She would stop saying we could make a new cat from the hair She takes out of the brush. It hurts my feelings. Anyway, I got the loveliest brushing, and when I jumped down. Kasey jumped up on the desk. Kasey wanted treats, but what she got was a brushing. I was laughing, because Kasey wants to act as if she doesn't like the brushing, but you can see that she does. We did a lot more things today, but my favorite was the brushing.
While we were sorting out presents into bags, he started thinking about LW'sMom and the sibs. Since She hardly goes out anymore, She doesn't see those guys, and when LW'sMom is not busy with her school, She will go to see them. She misses Mazie as well, but She got a nice letter from Mazie today, and She looked at it about a dozen times. Mazie draws pictures on her letters.
I wish I could tell you I am looking forward to dinner tonight, but She says She is making salad. If I am lucky, She will put some chicken in it. Otherwise, ugh. Salad. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Good News Cats

We got soome good news today, when we learned that our cousin, Lion, has almost healed his ear, and he only has a few more days in that pesky cone that he has around his neck! More good news is that She slept better last night and woke up nice and cheery. Everyone will think it is from too much coffee, She said, but we know that's not true. She may stay up on another night, just so She can talk to Her OperaGirl, who has to stay awake all night.
She has been worried about Katy'sGirl, though. It seems as if school is giving her the collywobbles (whatever that is), and She means to put a stop to it. She said the people at the school are watching K'sG very closely, to see that everything is going OK for her.
More good news is that She went to get groceries today, and She saved a lot of money by means of coupons. She saved so much that She is ready to dance - only She has to take two of those red pills first. Oh, Her bum leg is much better, but She is trying not to stress it out.
The not-so-good news is that He took His mother out to lunch. Went right to bed afterwards, of course. Her old church is having troubles now, but that may turn out to be good news as well. We will watch that very closely.
She got a kind of pizza at the store that She can share with Him. Vegetables and no meat. She loves when they can eat the same thing. I'll give it a try, but I prefer shrimp. Chow, bellas.

Yawning Cats

One thing She can always do is sleep. She sleeps at night, not during the day, like He does. So She watches Her TV, usually laughing at the funny news, and then works Her puzzle after that. At that point, She goes to sleep -sometimes before She turns out Her light. Don't worry. He turns it out for Her if that happens. I am usually somewhere near Her head or shoulder. But last night was different! She couldn't get to sleep. It was very strange, but we were patient for an hour or so, and then She got up. She was not the slightest bit sleepy, so She tried some more puzzles. That didn't work, so She played a game on Her computer. Finally She said, Well, Coffs, at least I don't have to get up and go to work. What She forgot is that Kasey and I DO have to wake up and go to work. It was almost morning before She fell asleep, and She would probably still be sleeping if I didn't wake Her up for my morning snuggles. Kasey and I wonder what caused that. She just might need to do some harder work in the daytime. We'll see what happens tonight. It would serve Her right if She fell asleep during Her TV shows. Some of Her favorites are on tonight! Here's what She said. It turns out I am not so fond of the actor, I am fond of the guy he played in his vampire show. I'm watching Castle. That made Him laugh. Me, not so much, because I don't get it. I'm going to take a nap now. Toodles.

Computer Cats

Hi, everyone. I thought I would never get on here to wrtie my story, because She was chatting away all day with Her computer friends. She looked at lots of pictures, and even played soome games. Don't tell Her I said this, but She is beginning to look as if She is hiding. It is not often that She goes out anymore, unless it is with someone or for something special. I know She worries about falling down, but She hasn't fallen in a year now. I think She just likes to be on the computer, visiting with friends. She does love Her friends. Also, She doesn't like to go window-shopping any more. She used to do that, you know. It means She went to the stores just to look around. She catalog-shops now, which may even save Her money. I wonder if She wishes She could go with Her OperGirl to walk in Eddie's home to raise money for charity. You never know, Coffs, She says. There may be a miracle. She knows Her OG would take care of Her, but that place is very, very far away, so She will just have to wait for pictures. He thinks They should go to a closer place one of these days. He says old people need to take small bites of adventure so they don't choke on it. She knows what He means, but I'm not sure I do.
I am chuffed about what She is fixing for dinner. It is a little pie with chicken and vegetables and gravy. She told me not to tell LW'sMom that She lets me have a taste. That would make LW'sMom gack up a hairball. Only she doesn't have any hair anymore. Hmmm. These humans do some strange stuff. I'll check in with you tomorrow, if She lets me.

Stay Inside Cats

This day is called Saturday, and it is a day when She stays out of the way of the people She calls Monday-Friday Bees. She did go to the bank, because there was noone at the bank today. It was a quick trip and She stayed out of traffic. We needed to be inside today, anyway, because She is sorting out Her closet where She keeps the presents She buys all year. It is a bunch of months until Christmas time, when She and He give away these presents, but She says, every year I have all my presents ready, and I still have to rush around to get them sorted before We go to visit Our families. Now, with the help of two lovely cats, I can get thing sorted early. We did get a few things sorted. Kasey went into the closet and knocked things down so She could put them in the right places. I provided a few chances for Her to rest and get snuggles, so that She didn't get worn out. She thinks She has exactly the right things for everybody, but we are not supposed to tell what. She will put them into bags and boxes, and everyone will be surprised. At first, I didn't think She would be able to wait so many weeks and months, but She says at Our age, you just blink twice and it's time to open things. It will make these visits easier this year, because He can eat more things than vegetables. But it wll still be vegetables tonight when She makes supper. Very nice for Him, but Kasey and I will settle for kibbles. TTYL

Angry Cats

She has been telling us about the young guys who have decided not to live anymore because of bullies. Those are scared people who have to pick on someone weaker than themselves so they can feel better about their own wicked selves. It has made Kasey and me very very angry. When Kasey and I fight with each other, we are playing, and would never hurt each other. Anyway, Kasey is only half as big as me, and Kasey is the one that starts all the fights. It makes us sad about how terrible She feels about this. The thng is, She thinks the bullies are the sick ones, and thinks they need real help. When She was a teacher, She had a way to stop bullying by first of all not allowing it in Her class, and by helping the bully as well as the bullied kid. She thinks Her Eddie was bullied when he was aboy, but he got out of it by being funny. That's how She got out of bullying when She was a kid. Not everyone can do that, though. Don't bullies know we are all different, with good stuff and bad stuff in each of us? Work on the good stuff. Bullying is bad. She told me that He beat the stuffing out of some kid who bullied Him in school. That stopped the bullying, but not everyone can do that, either. I hope you help us stop this kind of stuff before another sad kid decides to stop living. That is a terrible thing to do. After awhile I'll feel better, and then I'll have a taste of that sausage that I smell. Remember - Don't be a bully, and don't decide not to live anymore. Bye for now.
