Turnabout Cats

Here is the thing. It was just a nice, pleasant day. She was taking Katy'sGirl to an appointment, along with Katy'sMom. It was a nice, pleasant thing to do - not too early and not too late, with a good chance to have some good conversation. Getting there was fine, The drive is easy on a Saturday. When they left the appointment place, She thought it would be a short time until She would be home, and would have the rest of the day to have some fun. That idea came to an end when they were about half-way home, and suddenly, all the cars in front of them stopped. Pretty soon, there were all kinds of cars and trucks with lights and they all knew it was something terrible that had happened. Sure enough, when they finally got up a ways, after a very long wait, there was a car, turned all upside down and smashed flat. It made Her feel very sad and scared for the people. They finally got home,l but it was not the kind of day that She had in mind. After seeing that wrecked car, She was kind of feeling sad and grateful at the same time. It wore Her out. I had to give lots of snuggles.
On a happier note, He went to a meeting and sold all his boxes of models. It really cheered Her up, even though He has not counted the money yet. It turned into a much better day. Now She is watching a comedy show with a funny man who is not Her Eddie. But She told me Eddie likes this guy, too. TaTa for now.

Stay-Home Cats

Every day this week, She has gone someplace, and today She decided to just stay at home. That suited me very well. Kasey was a little annoyed because He had to go somewhere, and that interrupted Kasey's nap. He had to go and see a dentist, where they said there was not going to be a charge for the checkup, and it turned out it cost a bunch of money. Oh, well. He needs to care for His teeth, so He doesn't have to get those fake ones like She has. Meanwhile, we had a nice day with Her, since She just did at-home things.
The news was mostly about these two handsome people who had their wedding today. There were lots of pictures, and lots of people were talking about it. Some people got up very early to see it on TV. Since it was happening far away, where Her beloved Eddie lives, their clocks are different, so it was very early here, but over there it was a reasonable time. She did not get up to watch it She got up early when the boy's grandmother get married a really long time ago, but that was when She was young and peppy. At least that is what She says. Only it was on the radio, back then, and you had to go to the movies to see the pictures. She just loves all the wonderful things that have happened since She was a kid.
Let's have a cheer for Friday, because that is when She has fish for dinner. She says that was what people did when She was a girl, and it seems OK to Her. The pieces of fish are nice and big, so there is enough to share, in case anyone is interested. (ahem) I will like it better than the rice She made yesterday, although the chicken was OK. TTYL

Inspection Cats

As well you know, I am the chief inspector of everything around here, and things looked OK to me today, but what I didn't know was that there is a certain time for Them to get their cars checked out and must pass a test before getting a sticker. It is the car that has to pass the test, and if you don't have the correct sticker, a policeperson might make you pay some money. If you know Her at all, you realize that it would make Her plenty worked-up if She had to pay money like that. So off She went to the place where you get the sticker, and after a while, they gave it to Her.
Remember how She needed a haircut? When She went to the haircut place, the person who cuts Her hair was not there. You might think someone else could cut it, but She said no, because the same person has cut Her hair for forever, and She won't let someone else do it. Do you know why? Her haircut person would know if someone else cut it have hurt feelings. At our house, we try to avoid hurt feelings, even though sometimes it cannot be helped. So hair must stay too long for a few more days.
She is planning something with rice for Her dinner tonight, and I am not sure if I will like it. I will try to be fair, and don't worry - I'll let you know.

Painted Toe Cats

It is not us. We do not have painted toes - And neither does He. But She has so much trouble reaching over Her big tummy, so it is nice to have someone else keep Her toes painted. It was all She talked about this morning, while She was doing things around here, so we were in the mood for Her to get on with it. She came home a little while ago, and is letting Him admire Her toes while I write my story. Sometimes I feel especially lucky that my claws were removed before I met Her, or it would not surprise me is She would have painted mine. Anyway, pretty toes are Her topic for today.
It just so happens that She will be going to a meeting of Her beloved Crones later on. It is the bright spot in the week, when She meets with the Moms of almost all of our in-town cat-cousins. They will surely have plenty to talk about tonight, since She just saw that good movie yesterday, and wants to tell all the Crones about it. she did not hear from Her Eddie about it, even though She sent a message.
Next story might be about haircuts, since that is Her next topic. She believes it is a matter of national security. I don't know what that means, but She says it, and it sounds important. Until tomorrow, then.

What Did They Learn?

Today was Thinking Day, and They went to Sabra'sHouse for the meeting. It was special today, because One of the Thinking Guys brought a movie. It was about things that people talk about, discuss, and argue about, and it made Him and Her so very glad They went. From what They keep saying, it was a wonderful movie. The discussion afterwards was so interesting that They stayed for a really long time and I was afraid They would never come back. Of course, They did, and He got something to eat before His blood sugar wore out. She wants everyone to see that movie, and She even went to the computer and told Eddie about it! If She gets a copy, She will see if Her beloved OperaGirl might take it to him when She goes to see his shows far over the sea.
She got LW'sBrother a package that She will mail for his birthday next week, because LW'sMom is working so very hard on her studies. That means it is not a good time for a party. They will make up for it when LW'sMom is finished with her school. LW and all her sibs have birthdays in a row, and then it will be time for her Mom and Dad to have birthdays. It makes Her smile to think about it, especially since She saw LW being born almost six years ago. She says She is the first person that LW ever saw. She likes to think about that. I have to go and check on what She is up to, so I will say O-ree-vwar for now.

Cat Walks

She knew She was going to see a guy about money, and that it was far away. What She didn't know was that the walk from the car to the office where the guy was turned out to be about a mile away from the car. By the time They got to where the guy was, She was already knackered and starting to get tired of the whole idea. But He was very worried, and She doesn't like to see Him like that, so They showed the guy the information They had, and next thing you know, the guy was Her hero. She has been telling Him all along that He shouldn't worry about this problem, and the money guy told Him the exact same thing. He said Now aren't you glad you came? She admitted that She was, but told Him She was not going to walk back to the car, so He said He would pick Her up. So that story has a happy ending.
They decided to go some place to get some nice things to eat, which was kind of an extra good thing, She said. It is easier to go to eating places now that He eats eggs as well as vegetables. By the time She got home, She was chipper again. There were lots of catalogs in the mail, so after Mazie's present got sent, She just sat back and looked at catalogs. When She Sees something that someone would like, She turns down the page it is on, and thinks about it awhile.
When She is feeling rich, She buys some of the things. I can't tell you what, exactly, because it would spoil the surprise. You just know She got something for YOU! Toodles.

Nice Time Cats

They sure had a nice dinner last night, and could not stop reminding each other about the good stuff They ate. Cleo's Oldest Girl made some vegetables and stuff that They both loved, and He even ate the meat. She told me He had a bunch of helpings, even. She told me how you spell the name of the dessert C'sOG mmade, so it doesn't get mistaken for an animal. It was named mousse, and sounds just like a chocolate cloud, the way She tells it. I would have skipped the mousse, but I would have liked to try that gravy that was on the meat.
So today, the food will be more plain, even though it is a special day. It is a day for church, She told me, but She didn't go. She knew it would be nice, because LW'sMom was talking there, and she is always good. But She is just not up to it. She worked on some of Her other projects, and got ready to go and see somebody about His mother's future. That is always a big concern especially to Him, and it is about money again. She just sighs.
I slept on Her a lot last night, to make Her feel better. I usually sleep close to Her head, but last night I climbed right up on Her tummy and took care of Her all night. We all help each other like that. I'll be back tomorrow, friends and readers. Bye now.

Caturday

This is a nice day, so far. They were busy and Kasey and I were resting while He washed His mother's clothes. Half of the stuff in the basket wasn't the old lady's, and He is puzzled. He will get it back to the right people tomorrow. He said she was in bed in the wrong room when He went over today. How long can this go on? is what She wants to know.
Her job was getting the package for Mazie ready to mail, but not in time to take to the post office today. They close early on Caturday, She said. And They didn't get their funny movie out in time for it to go back, so both things need to wait for Monday. That was a funny movie about a mean guy who turned nice because of some children. It would have been more believable to Kasey and me if it were cats, but you know how humans are.
There will be no sharing of a nice dinner tonight, because They are going to Cleo's house. Cleo's oldest girl is there, and She says that girl is an awesome cook. So They are lucky. I'll stay here and make sure everything is just fine at home, while Kasey sleeps. Tomorrow is another special day. Every time i wash my paws, humans are having another day. We hope everyone's special day is nice for them. Oddy-ose muchachos.

Supplies Cats

When She looked into the refrigerator, She shook Her head. Not much to choose from here, She said. She went to the freezer outside. Hmmm She said. Not much here, either. Luckily, there were chips and dip. This won't last long, She said, so She decided. Off to the store She went, and came home with enough food to last all month - and maybe longer. It took a long time, and She missed Her old-fashioned program, but She couldn't help it. There needs to be a lot of kibbles and treats. There needs to be a lot of breakfast toast with black berries and cinnamon. There must be butter. There must be fish. And odds and ends for Her to eat, as well. She was clearly knackered when She got home, and had to have some of that nice iced tea. She can only do one thing in a day, just like She told Cleo'sMom. It means I'm officially old, Coffs, She said. There is a nice feeling about having plenty on the shelves, though, don't you agree?
She is waiting for one thing to send in the box of things for Mazie, and then She will go back to the post office. Next week is on of those weeks with the calendar pretty much filled in, so it is a good thing She was up and at 'em today.
She is going to fix that lovely pink fish for Their dinner, and lots of nice veggies. I have decided that this is a good day. poodle tip. (Get it?)

Blue Day Cats

This is how it was today. Kasey and I had cheering up work to do today. We are good at cheering up as well you know, but you could tell this day was different. She slept a long time, and I had to go and wake Her up - like I do. Oh, She woke up just fine, but She kind of stayed in bed. I felt Her face, and it was regular. Not hot, as if She had sniffles. When She gets like that, Her plan is to count Her blessings. First, She counted Kasey and me. Then Him, Then The Alphas and Mazie Grace. She counted Katy'sMom and Kids, and Smudge'sMom and Domino'sMom. She counted Cleo's people and Her Crones. Her OperaGirl, and Her OzGirl and Her StefferGirl and all the rest of Her Eddie Family. She counted Eddie, of course, but Eddie is not someone She can count on to listen to Her issues. Oh, She loves him, of course, but he is sort of out of Her reach. By the time She got through counting, She was chipper again. From there, everything was better. I did give her some extra snuggles after She had Her lunch, just to turn off the blue day some more. Don't worry, Coffs, She said. (She always says that) Everyone gets a blue day once in awhile, but you can't let it stay that way. How you feel is up to you. (She always says that, too.) So She decided it was an appreciation day. Just to cheer Herself up, She bought some more stuff. TTYL

Comedy Cats

He and She like to laugh, although He doesn't laugh out loud as much as She does. I think He was taught not to show His emotions when He was a boy. Mostly, He had to be quiet and not upset His step-father. She loves to see him laugh, and She knew He would like Eddie - and He does. So if Kasey and I chase each other, or if we play with the green mouse, They both have to laugh at us. She says we are a pair of comedians. Kasey just says hmmph to that, but I think it's nice. Sometimes I make Him laugh when I don't intend to be funny. Today, He carefully folded his clothes, and he chuckled when I jumped up and went to sleep on them.
He needed a laugh, because He had just come back from seeing His mother at the place where she lives. He says she can't carry on a conversation any more, so He just stays with her while she eats, and then comes back home. She is not a fan of His mother, but She is proud of how He takes care of the old lady. Who will take care of us when we are old and need care, she asks me. Kasey and I will do everything we can, but They have people that love them that would help us, I'm sure. If the old lady who no-one loves can get care, They should do really well. One thing they have that will surely keep them happy is a lot of Grandchildren. If they aren't right there with them, they will send love and energy, I bet. All over the world, Their grandchildren bring Them happiness every day, so I bet 10 kibbles they will do that when They are old and They need some laughter. I think I'll find Kasey and see if we can make Them laugh right now. Chow, bambinos.

Snoozing Cats

There was a ot of activity around our house today, but it wasn't Kasey and me. Both of us were knackered from playing with that green mouse-on-a-stick. We must have run and jumped until the spooky show was over - That's the last one before They go to bed. It was all I could do to wake Her up this morning. After I had my butter, I went back to sleep, while They kept pretty busy. There were phone calls to make, conversations to have, and things to be ordered on the computer. He and She are both worried about the fire warnings, but there is really nothing They can do. She tells me Don't worry, Coffs every day, and then She goes and worries about something She can't do anything about. Kasey and I both laugh at Her.
Those catalogs are getting a real workout these days. With all the birthdays coming up around here, She goes into Her buying presents mode. She kinows She wants to cut way down, because They have to save Their money, but when She sees a (blank) that would be perfect for LW or her sibs, what is She supposed to do? And Mazie? And Her OperaGirl, or Smudge'sMom? He said, what if they don't like these things? They wouldn't know how to tell you. She said then they can throw them away. I'm am doing it for MY fun, as well as theirs. He just shakes His head. That's OK, because I saw Her buying Him something,too. All I want is kibbles, butter, and a nice place to snooze. So Nighty(yawn)night.

Brushy Cats

It is a waste to throw away this huge bunch of fur, She said. By now, we all know you can't make new cats out of the furr that comes off in the brush, but oh, that brushing feels good. I bet that if shee would save up the fur for a few weeks, there would be enough to make He a swetaer. She says yeah, that'll happen. She knows a lady who lives very far away, where She and Smudge'sMom went on an airplane. That lady knows how to make stuff out of fur and even some kinds of plants. I have to tell you, if She starts saving up that hair, wonderful things will happen
It has been very hot here, with no rain for a long time, It has made everything so dry that there are warnings that there might be fires. One of her Eddie-Girls lives where there have been lots of fires, and She and Her other Grandchildren were worried. She called the girl up on the phone, and found out she was not burned up. The girl is not feeling very well, though., so She will send a message or two, to keep track.
Last night They watched a show about cats, and there were no cats like Kasey or me on the show. It's OK, She says we are much cuter than those strange cats with no fur, or very short legs, or no tails. We are more rare and amazing, She says, because we live here with Them. I have to agree. Now that I am all brushed and handsome, especially.
I think I saw Her put a little pie in the oven - the kind with the chicken and gravy. I'm going to make sure. Toodle Pip.

Wake Up Cats

It wasn't very late this morning, when I decided I wanted some pets, and I walked all over Her until She had to pet me, I dug Her arms out of the cover, and put my face under Her hands. He was already awake, and checked on my food. There was plenty of food, and the water dishes were pretty full, too. I fooled them both. I didn't wake Her up for anything but pets. I am still laughing about that.So we got started plenty early today, and surely did get things done. If She was expecting a lazy day, She didn't count on me.
One of the things we did is to put together a bunch of shelves, so She can set Her printer on it and store stuff under the printer. That way, the top of Her desk will stay clean and neat. She got a perfect catalog yesterday, so she did some shopping. eShopping, She calls it. Something for Mazie to give her daddy for fathers day, and something for Cleo's Dad's birthday. Now, if she just remembers what She got when the time comes. She is always finding things in Her gift closet. When the right thing is on sale, She says, She has to get it.
They looked at a movie last night, about old people who were spies. I don't mind telling you, I fell asleep. How many things can a person blow up?
LW'sMom might be through with her school one of these days, and She will be glad to see her and the Alphas again. She has been thinking about them a lot. Birthdays are coming, you know.
I hear Him in the kitchen. That doesn't help me - vegetables, remember? - so I'll be patient and see what She is going to fix. Bye, now.

Two Cars Cars

He has a car, although His mother owns it, and She has a car, and She owns it.If you think that's all there is to it, well, you haven't been around here for the past couple of days. He wants to get rid of the big car, and get something easier top get in and out of, so His mother can get in and out without him having to lift her. To get the best deal, He wants the car to look perfect, so it has been at the fixing place. Today it is all fixed, and She took Him over to pick it up. They didn't realize how things would be if they only have one car. You can't just jump up and run to the store, like He often does. But They got along just fine. I admit, I thought there would be more problems. She says they only had one car for awhile, and He had to drive Her to work and pick Her up every day. That was really hard, but They got through it, like they always do.
It is almost time for LW's brother's birthday, and She has been shopping about that. At first She thought She thought She might let him pick out his own present, now that he is getting so old. She says He and She have always had good luck knowing what to give him but he was never 15 before. In people years, that makes him a teenager, and those people are sometimes changed from being angels. She still has a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for developments. One thing She loves to do is to shop on Her computer.
I have three words that make my heart sing: Fish For Dinner. I'm a happy cat. Later, gator.

Cats and Boxes

I like boxes, but my sister, Kasey loves boxes. That works out really well when She buys things on Her computer and they start arriving. Yesterday we got one and today we got two, and Kasey is one happy cat. They leave the boxes on purpose for her until she has climbed in and out of all the boxes to her heart's content. Personally, I have to sniffle all the boxes and check that there is nothing in there that would bring harm to cats or people. What would this house be like without a cat who is as responsible as I am?
The things in the boxes are mostly for other people, but She got a pair of shoes that She hopes will keep Her from falling down.l they go up in the front so that She won't stub them on a sidewalk crack. They also tilt her a little bit back, so that Her posture is better. That might help Her poor, tired old bones. I'll keep you posted. The bracelet that He got Her to help with Her balance did not work at all, but don't tell Him. He was so glad to help Her.
You can almost see all the wood on Her desk, we worked so hard today. She can remember how She used to be particular about Her desk at the schools. She had to set a good example. Now there is no one to set an example for, so She says The world is my file cabinet, and lets things stack up. Whew, I'm knackered. Have a good nap, because I recommend it. Oddy-ose.

Befuddled Cats

I know I am not an old enough cat to be losing my memory, but this was really strange. She was quite busy, so when I came in here to write my story, I could not make the computer work. I did everything I always do, but no computer. Oh, sure. It was on. There was the big picture of Her beloved Eddie that always stays there. All the buttons worked - even the ones with the letters worn off. but it kept giving me a message that it could not work. After awhile, She tried to check on something, and it wouldn't work for Her, either. She asked Him politely to fix it, and he worked something out with the plugs and - long story short - here I am.
I wanted to tell you about how She got up very early and picked Him up where He left the big car to get fixed. She and I had our butter, and read the paper, but what She really was anxious to do was to go to have lunch with Her beloved Crones. Her visiting friend was still here, and She was one of the original Crones, so everyone was glad to see her and hear how life is where she lives far away.
It made Her worried that Domino'sMom didn't feel well and had to leave early, so She is anxious to hear about how she is doing. Out to lunch again means not much for supper, because She eats a lot at the Crones place. Also, She can't bring things home from that place. It's because you can take whatever you want, but it wouldn't be fair to take extra without paying. I( want Her to go back to LW's place. Oh, well. I'll be OK. (sigh) TaTa, everyone.

Butter Shopping

I don't know how it is at your house, but here where we live, it is a very bad thing to run out of butter. She likes a certain kind, you may remember. Not because it has a special taste, but because it fits in the butter place in the fridge. It doesn't hurt that it costs less than all other kinds, because you know how She is. We were getting perilously low, so She decided to go get some today. She really doesn't like to go out, except to play with Her friends, but She didn't want to face me if the butter was gone. Or Kasey, either, because She has been putting some out for Kasey, who licks it up. She did get some more chips, and a new kind of dip, which is what She and He love to snack on, and a small box of milk. She gets a small one, because She doesn't want it to spoil.
Other than that trip, it was a regular day. Our cousin Katy came to the back window and played with us, while He took a bunch of stuff out of the shed. He is going to try to sell some of that stuff, so She is chuffed. He is going to a meeting tonight, to see if anyone will want the stuff. He says it is a club, and they are having a sale. She says don't count your chickens, but it would be nice to have that extra space and extra money. The only thing is, I did not see any chickens. They are funny, sometimes.
She is getting ready to send something to Mazie, but it is not something to eat. Well, Mazie will be a good sport about it, She is sure. Have to tell Him goodbye, now, since He is off to His meeting. NightyNight,

Wary Cats

Actually, it was Kasey who was the first one out to see the visitor. She usually stays on her blanket until she is sure the visitor is not going to touch her. She must have known today's visitor was a cat lady, because she ran out when she heard Her key in the door, and stayed to greet the visitor. I was the one who was more careful. Oh sure, this lady had given us a bunch of toys when her cat went away, but I don't trust people. Where I lived before I came here. the humans were not nice to me. Their little kid pulled my tail and got me in trouble. So I don't rush out to greet people, even if it is one of Her favorite friends.
This lady and She went to eat some good things, and I was happy when I saw Her come home with a box. A bit later He opened it and it was salad. Not allowed to say yuck here, but if I could, that's what I would say. But He was right chuffed with it, and is haviang it for His dinner.
She is happy to see Her old friend who moved away almost as far as where Her OperaGirl lives. Only old people live in the place, so the lady likes it just fine, but she misses Her and some other friends. The lady comes driving in a car all that way, and that way she can visit people. They talked a long time, and will have lunch again when all the Crones get together. How nice today has been for Her, and I am happy, even though I was very careful about meeting the lady. Chow for now.

Learning Cats

Here's what She always tells us: Any day you learn something is a good day. So this has been a good day, for sure. When He went out into the back yard, Kasey learned that it doesn't mean she can go out there. You already know that She has tried to sneak out there a lot of times, but He really scolded her this time, and She slunk away. Normally, He doesn't scold.
What She learned today was about writing to people on the computer and having them answer right away. She was always puzzled about how to do that, so today she figured it out so She could talk to Bernie'sGirl. It made Her happy to learn how to do that.
He learned something today, as well. He wondered how to go on Facebook, which is a good way to know what everyone is doing, and now He can do that. Good day all around.
So you are probably wondering what I learned today. Well. I learned that it is very cozy to snooze on Her chest and feel Her breath go in and out. I had a wonderful rest while She watched some British guy talking about traveling around this country. I'm sorry, but I could not stay awake. He seems like a nice guy, and he knows lots of big words, and She likes him a lot. Oh, not as much as Her beloved Eddie. There are not many people She likes that much. I learned that on another good day. Toodle Pip for now.

Curious Cats

Yes, Kasey and I are wondering about things. Why do they like to eat those chips and dips all the time? It would be different if the dip they put on the chips tasted good, but even though it looks like cream, it doesn't taste good to either of us. They are happy about the chips and dip, and even have it for lunch, like they did today. Don't they know it isn't good for them? Neither one of them listens to us about it. Maybe They will get over it soon. It is mostly She who goes on these bouts of eating the same thing every day. For awhile it was cereal for lunch. Then it was peanut butter sandwiches. Then it was soup. Now it's chips and dip. Luckily, She goes out to eat Her lunch every so often.
We are also curious about what He eats. For a long time it was only vegetables with no milk or eggs or cheese. Now He has added those things back. The doc told Him to eat meat once a week, and He is careful about keeping track of that. I say They should just eat kibbles, and there would not be so many choices to think about. I wonder if they make kibbles for humans. She said yes, but they call them chips and dip. I don't believe Her.
Anyway, They will be seeing a movie tonight. I know, because I saw the red envelope. If it is scary, I'll get on Her lap and give Her snuggles. She won't get scared that way. Now, I'm curious about what She will fix for dinner if She is full of chips and dip. Bye for now.

Late-Start Cats

It was so late when She woke up this morning that I was afraid I was going to have to fix my own butter. Luckily, there was a phone call that woke Her up so we could get our day started right. Since She had enough sleep, She was quite energetic today, and promised me that there would be fish for our supper tonight. After we had our breakfast, and Kasey had her treats, She went back to the old de-cluttering. I have tried to help Her with that, but it takes to long, and I get sleepy. She is in a fret because I have been sleeping in the hall outside Their bedroom, and She is worried that She will trip over me, or step on me like She did before. Why did you change your sleeping place, Coffs? She asked me, and I went back to one of my old places. After a few minutes, I jumped down and went back to the hall. Maybe you want to ask me why, but I am not going to tell you. Just be aware that if She steps on me, you'll be able to hear me yow, wherever you are. Of course, if She trips and falls, you might just hear HER.
She is kind of chuffed because the money They have to pay the bank so we can live here is a little less this year, and She says we might see the end of those payments while She is still alive. That is good, because we have lived here a long time. He and She have lived here even longer than Kasey and me, so we are ready for it to be through.
Now I must decide. Should I go back in the hall, or out to one of my usual places. I'll let you know.

Happy Birthday Cats

Kasey and I have lovely family members. They are not the ones from our getting born, they are all chosen to be family. First, there is Them. He and She are our Mom and Dad. They were so lonesome for cats that they chose both of us. Kasey and I could not be more different, but They love us and you can tell that every day. Then there are our big bunch of cousins. We used to have more, some of whom were d-o-g-s, but they have gone to live somewhere else. Or to not live at all. We say rest in peace about them. And you have read about our cat cousins, because we are very proud of all of them. Our cousin Smudge and his sibs all got whispered in, and they had to be very brave to have that happen. Our cousin Katy-next-door is about half our cat and half next door, because she has been in here a lot of times. We have our family of animal cousins at Bernie's house. Today, our special shout out is for our NYC cousin, Lion. Lion is a big cat, like me, and he has a lion face. She has seen Lion up close, and says he is beautiful, and his name is just right. So we will have some extra kibbles in your honor tonight, Lion. Lion has a baby brother named Nick. I bet he gets some treats today, too. What She says is that it is all about love. When you love your cats and other pets, it puts more love in the air, and love is good for all of us. Happy Birthday, Lion, and happy day, everyone else. Toodles.

Teacher's Cats

This morning She saw something in the paper that made hir kind of mad. The people who decide how to spend the tax money have decided not to give enough to the schools, and that makes Her boil. Schools are very important to humans. They are not born with the same kinds of skills that cats have, so they have to learn a lot of things. Some they learn at home, but a lot they learn in schools. Ever since She was a little girl, She knew schools were important, but now She believes that the people who decide things don't understand that. She had us really getting ready to hide, because She was telling us so many mean things about these people. We will probably hear more about this, because She says that even if She doesn't go to work, She is still a teacher. It is in Her bones, She says. Be careful, because you never know what will get Her started.
Last night She was carrying Her root beer and She didn't see me. She stepped on my tail, and I had to yow. I guess this makes us even for you biffing me, She said. I didn't thinbk that was a very good apology, and I decided to be mad at Her and went and slept under the me-table instead 0f near Her head. By morning, though, I really needed some pets and a brushing, so I decided to forgive Her. She was very glad. Just don't let it happen again, I told Her. We'll see.

New Cousins Cats

We all know how much She likes Coffee-the-drink. Today She went to have some special kind with one of her good friends. She has gone there before, but She didn't tell us about our cousins that live there. Three are lovely cats, on is a d-o-g, and you won't believe what the next cousin is! It is a bird. That bird is named after Mazie's birthstone which is also the birthstone of Smudge'sMom and Hana'sGran. That made Her chuckle when She told us about it. Our d-o-g cousin was so excited to see Her that she barked and barked, but then she decided she liked Her and they became friends. I haven't noticed if She smells like d-o-g yet, but we may just forgive Her, because She is so happy about today's adventure. She told Him how especially nice it is to talk with people who have nice brains. Kind of like Their ThinkingPeople.
He is starting to worry again, this time about taxes, and nothing She says can make Him feel better. He got the name of a guy who He can explain His worries to, and She really hopes that guy can help. She thinks worrying is a waste of time, but still, She worries about Him. That is good for Kasey and me, because it keeps Them from worrying about us. That way we can tear things up, and They think it's cute. I know what She is fixing for dinner, and it is chicken. That is almost as good as fish. I have to go and prowl around a bit, now, because I don't know where Kasey is. So, Toodles.

Meow from Far away

For a long time, She has had a friend that is a music lady. She plays on an organ, which is very fancy with lights and pedals and all sorts of buttons to push and pull. Well, This nice friend moved away, and they send notes to each other. This lady doesn't have cats anymore, but she gave some of her cat stuff to Her. It is what She carried Katy to the doc in. Today, the music lady called on the phone, and is coming to see us next week. She is right chuffed about that. I'm sure they will have a nice lunch together, and She hopes the music lady will go to lunch with Her beloved Crones, as well. It made it a nice morning for Her. It was kind of rainy, but She didn't care.
The rest of the day has been kind of plain. He went to visit His mother, whose mind is like a bowl of oatmeal. That always wears Him out, you know She is getting a package ready to send to Mazie. It is a little tree and all the things that go with it, like sand and stones. That means we will have a trip to the Post Office this week, I bet. She wonders why He saves so many boxes, but now She is glad he does, so She could find a box to fit the strange little tree and its stuff.
She says this is the time for cleaning our house so it is all spiffy. Please pardon my while I (snerk) at that. She gets worn out making a sandwich, so cleaning the house is not likely. I don't mind the way the house is, anyway, so I don't say anything about it. Well, Kasey is here looking for treats, so She will probably be coming back. So, bye bye.

Insurance Cats

Every month She puts some money into a bank so that when the time comes, She can pay insurance. She says it is the law that people have insurance in case their car bumps into another car or something hard. The place where They have the insurance is around the corner, and the man who owns the insurance company is a friend. When She sees things on TV about saving money on insurance, She thinks that it is probably better to have it with this friend, because there won't be any weird problems. This is the month when They have to pay for it, and She is ready. So is He, but He wants to get rid of the big car that has all the bells and whistles, since He doesn't need to spend His mother's money anymore. She will be so glad.
She keeps trying to donate money to Her OperaGirl's walk for helping others, but the place won't take Her money. She thinks it is because it is far away in another land, and they don't want Her kind of money. Never mind, She will just send it to Her OG, and that sweet girl will carry it to the other place.
Everything around here is about some games that boys are playing to see who is the best. She says She is with Kasey on this topic. She doesn't care. But is IS good exercise for the boys. I just heard Him putting kibbles in our dishes. So long for now.

Routine Cats

When He and She used to go to work - before we knew them - They say they had a routine. They got up early, got ready and went to work, then did errands and fixed supper. They both had homework of one kind or another, and if and when that got done, They watched some TV and went to bed. They saved their big errands for Saturdays, went to church on Sunday, and did things that had to be done. As She talked about it, She had a little smile, because now They are retired. Now Kasey and I are part of their routine. He still gets up kind of early, and has His routine: give treats to Kasey, feed the birds, get the paper, eat some food and go back to bed. That is almost every day. What She does is sleeps later, and when She gets up, She plays with me, drinks Her coffee-the-drink and then She and I have our butter. I have mine on Her finger, She has Hers on some nice toast. She and I read the paper, and while I stalk things and chase Kasey, She goes to Her computer. She didn't plan to have a routine when She retired, but as it works out, She still does. She stays up quite late, and thinks about happy things. I like our routine, and I am glad His mother woon't be coming here to spoil it for us.
Remember when we used to have spaghetti every Saturday? Well, He says He would like some today, and so She will fix some. That is really good, because I like to taste the red stuff on the spaghetti. She says I am a gourmet. So Ah dyoo for now.

April Fool Cats

This is another special day. Humans have lots of them. This one is for playing tricks on people. He and She don't like to play tricks on people, and luckily for us, they don't play tricks on cats, either. Since She was running out of a lot of things, She decided to go to the big store and get more supplies. This way, if She doesn't feel like going out,l She has everything She needs right here. Since we have toast and butter every day, She certainly doesn't want to run out of that nice bread that smells like cinnamon and has black berries in it. It is how She brings my butter to the table. After I have a bunch of fingers of butter, I walk away, and She puts a finger of butter on a little plate. Kasey will come up and eat that butter off the plate, but she would never take it off Her finger. She is glad Kasey licks it up, because She says butter is good for cats. It keeps them from gacking up so much. I don't know if that is true, but if it is not, don't tell Her.
Since it is April, people are getting ready for summer things. Her OperaGirl is getting ready to go to where Eddie lives, if you remember. What a nice thing for OG to do, to raise money so that people can get well faster. Her Grandpeople are always doing nice things, which makes Her awfully proud. Now that They don't have to rush to spend all of His mother's money, life is easier for Them. You can just feel the relief around here. Who would have thought that spending money would be so hard. Must scamper now, to check on whether that is fish I sniffle. Chow.
