Successful Cats

He and She were successful about their to-do lists today. The first thing that was successful is that He went to the Post Office and sent Mazie's Birthday present on its way to her. There are lots of things in the box, because She can never decide on one thing for Her beloveds. Then He got His beard trimmed, because He does not like a messy beard. I know just how He feels about that. I like to be neat and trimmed, myself. Since She did not feel neat and trimmed, She went to see Her hair-cutting lady. I think the lady cut it a bit too short, but She just loves it. She told me that lady has been cutting Her hair for 22 years. I can't even imagine it! So She will look very trimmed for Her Crones lunch tomorrow.  She loves the new month that starts tomorrow, because it starts with Mazie's birthday, then Smudge'sMom's, then Hana'sGran's . Kasy and I have ours in another month, when it is cold weather. This has been quite a successful day, and we are glad, except for Kasey, who had to yow at Kate today. Chow, bellas.

Stock-Up Cats

He is on one of His eating things again, but not as bad as before. Right now, He can't eat white food, like potatoes, rice and noodles. It makes Her shake Her head, but She has stocked up on meat and fish, and rice that is not white, exactly. It isn't brown, either, no matter what the package says. So that sounds easy enough, except that He can't have peas and corn, so They had to stock up on other stuff that he wants to eat. She is good with this plan, until He gets tired of it. Between His sicknesses with His sugar and His getting mad, She decided if this is all it takes to change it, She will do just fine. Just in case, though, She stocked up on cookies. They cure whatever is wrong with Her.  As for our kibbles, He got us special inside cat kibbles and they taste really good.
She was kind of glad She didn't have to go anyplace else, because She was knackered from all Her excitement yesterday. You won't believe how sad She is about getting so tired just doing regular stuff. I have to go help her rest now. Cheers.

Appreciating Cats

If you can remember the story about how She and Her brother just met each other a few years ago, you will appreciate how She and He met another member of Her family - In fact, four more people. It was about a year ago when They met Her nephew, Jon. She was so thrilled with that meeting, and even saw him again. Yesterday, She got a call from Jon's big brother, David, Jr. He and his family were coming back from their vacation and the plane stopped here in our town. The people were going to have a long time until their next plane would take them home. He and She went to the airport to see them, and They had so much fun. There was the nephew and his wife, and they have two boys. One about the age of LW'sBigSister, and one about the age of LW'sNextSister. She immediately loved all these people. They had lunch and talked for hours, until it was time to get the next airplane. She was so chuffed, but when They finally got home, She was too knackered, so She just put on Her sleeping clothes and watched Their British program. He and She and Their cats sure appreciated this family day. Sleepy time now. (Yawn)

Detective Cats

It was afternoon in the big city. She had just returned from lunch with Rocky'sMom when the phone rang. It was our Uncle John, who said, I need a favor. Naturally, She said sure. It turned out that the guy who robbed him and Aunt Heather had gone to a gas-station store and used her credit card to buy something.  The store had a camera and took the robber's picture. She gave the store guy a computer thing that copied the picture and then they gave it to a police guy that was there. Here's something funny. She asked the guy to make two copies, so that the police have one and U.J. and A.H. can have a copy. The police guy said that it was against the law to make another copy, and if anything goes wrong, like if U.J. catches the robber and kills him, the store guy would be in trouble, and so would She. Since She knows Uncle John would never do that, She wasn't worried. The store guy and She waited til the police left, and he gave her back the computer gadget. It IS Hers after all. The store guy says, of course you will erase it, and She said She was sure everything would be fine. She came home and told us all about it. We would surely have trusted Her to be the detective. Wouldn't you?

Danger Cats

Today we found out about a danger that some of our beloveds were in. Here's what happened. Uncle John and Auntie Heather came from their house far away yesterday. They came to see a play about lions. They told us they would see us in the morning today. When they got here, they had a terrible story to tell. They left their car for a few minutes, to get something to eat. When they came out, someone had broken their car window and taken Aunt Heather's clothes and purse. Her purse had all her important papers in it. When they came to our house this morning, Aunt Heather looked beautiful, but she didn't have any clothes to change into, so she still had her party clothes on.  It make our hearts break that everything was gone. Of course, He gave them some money to buy important stuff like a toothbrush and some other stuff. It is hard to think about the problem they might have had if the robber was still there when they came out. It would have meant danger, for sure. He and She gave them big hugs and let them go for the long drive to their home. If the robber came here, Kasey, Kate and I would surely knock him down and bite him. Bye for now.

Fraidy Cats

One thing that She always says about me is that I am a Scaredy Cat. That is a name for a cat or person who is more afraid than he should be about where he or she goes. Another name for that is Fraidy Cat, because being scared and being afraid are kind of alike. If you are scared, it might be because of that loud thunder, or a very loud noise. It is sad to be scared, but not as sad as it is to be afraid. When a person or cat is afraid, he or she can't seem to be normal. I guess that's why I stay in our bedroom, or in our closet. Maybe I am afraid of the new way life acts with a new cat. Kate is not a bad cat. I almost think she would like to be friends, but we can't seem to work out that part of ourselves where we have to share places and things. Do you know who else is a fraidy cat? She is. She is so afraid She will fall again that She doesn't want to go anyplace. Luckily, She has friends who She loves more than being afraid. Still, She thinks about where She will put Her feet. She says, Cofs, I have lost my rhythm. I just step - step - step. I am sorry for Her, because I know how She feels. I told Her let's both work on it. TTYL.

Quiet Day Cats

Yesterday and today were quiet days. They didn't go anywhere, just took care of stuff at home, including playing with Their beloved cats. Probably it helps that He and She were bummed by all that shooting stuff, and They don't want to talk about it any more. He was once in a place call Marines and got a medal for being good at shooting. She learned to shoot some plates that flew through the air. Neither of them like guns. They are so sad about how many things can go wrong with a nice person. Kate says this sometimes happens to cats. Kate knows things, because she lived on the mean streets for awhile. Kate says you can only be mean to a cat for just so long, and then the cat gets mean, too. No one treated us in a mean way, but the best part was coming to live here. Oh, sure, Kate misses her kids, but she doesn't miss the excited dog. Maybe Kate is so fussy about her space because she couldn't relax with the dog around. Anyway, we will look for more things to happen this week. Everyone needs quiet days once in awhile, but enough is enough. Later, Gator.

Another Day Cats

It seems as if every day we get another day closer to getting along with each other. I still stay in the bedroom unless the coast is clear, like now. Casey travels to be with Him in His office, and Kate - well, Kate goes all over the place. She told me She once read a book about how every person and group staked out their territories and were not good about letting other groups in. She says we are not far off from that. These human groups always wanted to better than the other groups, and so they were not nice to them The better the group, the more people they made fun of and were nasty to. I asked Her what made the groups better. It can't be size, because I am the biggest, and it doesn't help. I guess, She said, it must be what they have.  She can't mean money, because He and She don't have much money, and They make a good group. He said it was power. That can't be it, because I am bigger and so I have the most power. He said lots of different things give power. She said don't worry Coffs. The best group is the one that knows the most.  Knowing stuff gives you power. That makes sense, because Kate lived outside, so she knows a lot of cat stuff. I think the best group is the one that knows how to get along with other groups. She likes that answer. Well, Cheerio for now.

Mazie Cats

One of Her precious beloveds is a sweet girl we call Mazie. Mazie used to live close by Her and Him, but then she moved a bit farther away.  She knew her when she was just a little girl, just born. When Mazie lived close, She saw her every day, and played with her and had lots of fun. When Mazie moved farther, She still saw her once a month, because Mazie'sDad would bring her to visit. Then, just as She feared, Mazie moved very far away, and since she moved so far, She has only seen her a couple of times. One good thing is that Mazie'sDad writes a letter every week so that She can read about what the family is doing, The latest letter included pictures of Mazie being in a play, and She says Mazie was brilliant in that play. Friends and neighbors where Mazie lives said she stole the show, which means Mazie was very, very, very good. She has looked at that picture a whole bunch of times already, because She is so chuffed.  It put an amazing sparkle in Her eyes, and makes it seem as if her precious beloved is not so far away. I would not be the least bit surprised if She celebrates by making pizza for our dinner tonight. I know that's what I would do. Ah-dyoo for now.

Very Sad Cats

The first thing She saw on Her computer this morning was news that made Him, Her, and us very sad. Last night a bunch of people went to see a movie. They wanted to be the first ones to see this fun movie about a hero guy.  The movie had just started when a pathetic guy stood up and started firing his gun. I am so glad we weren't there. so far, a bunch of people were killed - a big bunch, and even more were hurt by the gun shots.  It made Him and Her and us feel very sick. She and I had a bit of a cry, and it took a bunch of pets before we could think clearly. Something She has wondered for a long time is why do people get guns so easily. If She had Her way, the only people who had guns would be people who hunt for food. Oh, and police, of course. People get very mad when She talks about getting rid of guns, but if this thing that happened last night doesn't prove She's right, I don't know what does. Luckily for Her, Cleo'sGirl came over and made Her feel much better.  Kate really liked C'sG, too. She thought it would cheer everything up if She fixed that nice, pink fish for our dinner. It makes me feel better already. Bye Bye.

News Cats

Every morning, She reads the newspaper. Someone brings it to our house, and he goes out to get it after he feeds the birds. She gets Her breakfast and sits there and reads the news. Here is what I don't get. Every day They look at news on TV. People send them news on the computer.  With all that news, why do you suppose She needs to get that paper?  I have asked Her that before, and She tells me, Cofs, I like to know more about the news than what they say on TV. Besides, the paper tells me who died, in case anyone was a friend. It also has funny jokes at the back. She says She has been reading some of those picture jokes for a long time. He and She feel interested in what is happening. I think that is a good sign, in case there is anything about danger to cats.
Yesterday She wanted to get dinner from the place where they make those puffy eggs, but the rain bummed Her out. Well, today He said He would go and get it if She ordered it, so that is what our dinner will be tonight. I think it's a good idea, don't you? Toodle Pip for now.

Peculiar CatsIt was rain tht made this a peculiar day. She was looking forward to taking Katy'sOldGirl

It was rain that made this day so peculiar. She looked forward to taking Katy'sOldGirl to see her doc. Then, She thought, on the way home She could get a haircut. Then She could go to the nice place She went with Rocky'sMom last week and get food for their dinner. He liked that food She brought home before, so She knew He would like it. They saw the doc, She reports, and they left the place. They went out in the sunshine, but that was the last they saw of the sunshine, because it started to rain. Harder and harder. It was hard to see. It was hard to get the car where it was supposed to be. Finally Katy'sOldMom and -Girl got home safely. The rest of the way back to Her house, the rain bothered Her. She gave up on the haircut. Finally, She gave up on the take away food, and just went home. She told me about it, but I could see She was more tired than She should have been, and I told Her to go watch a program and relax. Luckily, She had something easy to fix for our dinner. We all hope that tomorrow will not be peculiar, and that She can finally get Her hair cut. Til tomorrow, readers.

Serene Cats

Oh, it was a lovely, quiet day today. He was very quiet, so She could sleep awhile longer. He was chuckling when They had breakfast. It is a really different place when He feels happier. So that made the day start off nicely, and Kate and Kasey didn't have an incident. You won't believe how loud Kasey can yow when Kate tries to get near Him. Kate and I don't have yowing problems, but I am still not completely used to having another cat get pets from Her, and Kate is just starting to get used to me getting pets from Her.
With a quiet day like this, She could get busy working on some organizing. She has Mazie's birthday present almost ready to go, and Smudge'sMom's in the planning stages. Hana'sGran has a birthday pretty soon, as well. She just loves all this birthday stuff.  I heard Her tall Him that She was going to dial back on all this birthday and Christmas stuff, but frankly I don't think She will dial anything. She has too much fun looking at the catalogs and wondering how people would like what She picks. I must go now and supervise dinner. I can smell garlic from here. Chow.

Manic Cats

This is about Him today. He was up early. She and Kate, Kasey and I were sound asleep, when He got very mad at His computer and started yelling at it. Kasey thought it was funny, but the rest of us were kind of scared. He knows how to yell very loudly. There was no use trying to sleep while He was yelling at His computer, and at the fixing guys on the phone, so we just started our day a little early. It took quite awhile to get it settled, but finally it was fixed. We were all relieved, but then it happened again. He wasn't mad at us, but when He is mad, He yells. Kind of like Kasey. He may have learned it from her. When Kate's oldMom came to the door, He was still mad, and He slammed the door while she stood there. Of course, She went and tried to make everything better, and Kate's oldMom was very nice about it. This has been a terrible day for Him, and He says Cleo'sMom is right, that He doesn't like the computer either. I was puzzled about that, but She explained it was part of His sickness, and that we shouldn't be upset.  She will fix us a nice dinner, maybe with shrimp, and that will make Him feel comfy and nice. Tomorrow He will feel better, I just know it. Cheers.

Pretend Cats

Kasey, Kate and I pretend all the time. Sometimes we pretend a little paper on the floor is a bug, and we stalk it and chase it until we decide the toy mouse is real and we catch it and toss it all around. Today, She pretended She was at the movies. She fixed a big bowl of popcorn, poured a nice glass of ice tea, and put in the movie. It was dark outside, but you could still see a little, so She didn't turn on a light. The movie played on the TV, and She had such a good time watching it.  She knew He wouldn't like it, so She watched it while He was busy. He said it was a family movie, and He likes more mystery kinds of things. This was about a really sad family who wanted to get away from their old life, so they bought a zoo. That is a place where they keep wild animals and keep them happy, so they don't just die out. She loves that stuff. I caught Her crying at the end, but don't feel sad. It had a nice ending. People like zoos.
You know how much She likes ribs, don't you. She had ribs for her dinner last night, with Rocky'sFamily, and just like always, She saved some for our dinner tonight. She doesn't have to pretend about that. Well, so long until next time.

French Cats

The reason we are French today is because this is a big day in the place where French cats come from. A long time ago, they used to put people in nasty jails for not good reasons, like if they didn't pay their bills. The regular people were mad because the rich people had everything and the regular guys were broke. AND put in jail for it. A bunch of regular people got together while they were still mad, and they broke down the doors on the jail and let people out. That had them so excited that they decided not to let the rich guys get away with it and you won't believe what they did to them. They put them in a machine that cut off their heads. Then they took over running things. I reminded Her of what we keep seeing on TV about rich people. That made Her say Hmmmmm.  I don't think She would approve of cutting off heads, though. She isn't like that.  She did say to me, bonne idee, ma chatte. That's French. He and She are going to eat dinner with Rocky'sMom, -Dad and -Boy tonight. It isn't because of the head-cutting-off, though. It is because it's Rocky'sDad's birthday. So Ah-dyoo, amis.  Bon nuit.

Lucky Cats

There is something about today that She tells me has to do with luck. Kasey and I don't know what luck is, but Kate does. It is something good, that is all I know about it. Well, the name of today is Friday, and the number of it is thirteen, and according to some people and cats, that combination means that you have bad luck. This is not the kind of day when cats find nice homes to go to, and get extra treats. That is regular luck. Now, She explains all this to me, and then goes on to say She doesn't believe in it. Then why are we talking about it? She says it is because every day you learn something is a good day.
She learned something when She went to the picture-frame place with Rocky'sMom. There is a picture of Her and Eddie - you know about that - and when Her OperaGirl sent it, it got a crinkle in it. The picture-frame guy is going to fix it so you won't be able to see the crinkle anymore.  She says it is a lucky day when you can have that done for your beloved picture.
When She and Rocky'sMom ate lunch, there was so much good stuff left over that She is giving it to Him for His dinner, while She fixes something lunchy for Herself, He is chuffed about that. Well, Kate is wandering around looking for someone to bother, so I have to go. Bye, now.

Gloomy Cats

This is the kind of day it is - Gloomy. It rained most of the night and it has been raining all day. The TV guy says there is so much water in some places that cars cannot get through.Where we live, He says it is not likely to have that much water, and I sure hope He is right.  When the clouds are so dark and there is thunder, you just know where I will be hiding. I had to try twice to come in here for my story because it thundered so loud. Since She doesn't have to go to a job, She doesn't usually mind the  rainy weather. It feels cozy to Her sometimes, even. Today is different. She is just as gloomy as the weather. It is not because of her sore knees. They are a little bit better today. It is not because She misses Her friends, because She visited with them on the computer today. It is not because of Him, because He is feeling good today.  In fact, She thought it would be a good day when She woke up. I am suspicious that it is because Her beloved cats aren't acting right. She is tired of Kasey and me being in the bedroom, and not coming out for our usual fun stuff. Well, we shall see how She feels tomorrow. She has some plans with Rocky'sMom and She has a nice thing to fix for supper. We'll see how that goes. TaTa for now.

Therapy Cats

Now that Kate has me stuck in the bedroom, I can't always get here to write my stories.  I keep hearing - from Him and Her - that it will all be better someday. I think She must be right, because all of Her beloved Crones have agreed with Her. The Crones are Her favorites when it comes to Crone Therapy. That means they make Her feel better, no matter what kinds of problems She has been having. Since She fell down, Cleo'sMom and -Girl fetched Her food, and helped Her every way. She just loves these lunches and the evening meetings. Now they are planning an extra lunch, because people are scattered for the summer and don't have all their regular get-togethers.
Besides the cat situation, She is bummed about all the election stuff. They call Her every day to give money to the President, but He and She only have so much money. She told me they spend a lot of this money on TV ads, and She thinks it ought to go to teachers, firemen and police. I am sad that those guys don't care what She thinks. But don't worry. He and She have us, and no matter how we feel about each other, we still love Them.  I will go give Her some snuggles right now. Cheerio.

Monday, July 9, 2012

PolitiCats

Our house kind of reminds me of the news shows They watch on TV.  There is one side, me, who wants to be happy and not have to worry about where to walk and play, then there is Kate, who thinks she should have everything and not share. Kasey is kind of like the millionaire guys who have what they want and don't give a flip about what anyone else has.  I guess She hopes we will learn to give in a little and that Kate will loosen up and let me roam all over the house and I will let her have a share of His and Her affection.  One thing I hope is that She never gets as mad at us as She gets with the people on TV. She thinks the guys that are like me should stop pussy-footing around and get brave, and the ones like Kate should loosen control on some of the stuff they are blocking. It makes my brain kind of tired to think about it.
It is raining again today, but He and She don't care. They remember when we didn't have any rain last year and too many things caught on fire.  Well, I am glad if They are glad. I am wondering about what they mean about supper. She says they are having hot dogs. Oh, no. I don't care for dogs, but I wouldn't eat them. It sounds mean. Well, I'll find out more and report back to you. Aloha.

Aww Cats

To tell the truth, I feel sad for Her when I see Her limping around the house.  Oh, sure, She is better, but those pesky knees of Hers make me want to say aww.  I came in here while She was writing notes, and I gave Her several extra snuggles. She says that makes Her feel better.  She has some stuff coming up this week, and She says She is going to keep calm and carry on. She says stuff like that a lot. It might have something to do with Eddie.
Speaking of Her beloved Eddie, She says he is very busy making TV shows, movies and getting ready for a 25-country tour. That sounds like quite a lot. I think Her Eddie should get a cat. Kasey or Kate would make nice, calm pets for Eddie, don't you agree? I'll bring this up to Her next time we are having a snuggle.
I am not sure what we are having for our dinner tonight. I know it isn't fish, because I didn't see it out on the counter, melting. The pizza trick worked fine for Her and me yesterday, but She isn't the type that would try that two days in a row. Anyway, with the pills and the cream, I think She is ready to stand up and cook. I'll let you know. TTYL

Recovering Cats

I managed to get in here with no trouble, since Kate has decided to curl up in MY sunshine. Oh, well, at least I have time to tell you that She is almost recovered from Her fall. I told Her that it is a good thing She takes those calcium pills every day. A lot of old people would have broken a bone, going down like She did. I'm glad She listens to me. Now, Her knees hurt and She is making weird noises when She stands up. But He brought Her some cream to put on Her knees and that makes Her feel better. I'm glad you don't have to smell it, though. Forgive me if I say pew. I think She will use Her sore knees as an excuse to cook one of Her frozen pizzas. He is getting particular about what He eats, and pizza is not high on His list, but maybe He will feel sorry for Her and agree to the pizza. It isn't as if She fell down just to get away with having pizza, but She says, if the opportunity is there, take it.  She had lots of fun on Her computer today with Her friends. I'm lucky I could get Her out of the way so I can write my story. Glad you could be here. Shalom.

Ouch Cats

It has been a long time since She has fallen down, but today she tripped kind of sideways on the carpet, and down She went. We were very sad for Her, because She hates that.  Kate was curious to see Her on the floor, and went over and sniffed Her and gave her a couple of kisses, It made Her laugh, for some reason. I personally think She likes to be left alone when She does something embarrassing like fall down.  Last time She fell, which was maybe a year ago, She got Herself up, but She needed a chair. She wiggled Herself over to a chair, but when She tried to get up, the chair kept moving away. Kasey started to snicker, but I gave her a mean face, so she stopped.  In the end, a big bunch of fireman came and lifted Her and got Her settled in Her chair. Nothing was broken, and when She gets over feeling clumsy, She will be fine.  Since She had just gone to the store, the lucky thing was that She waited until She got home to fall down.  I will find a way to give Her some more snuggles, and all will be well in the catdom. Oddy-ose.

Insured Cats

Today was about calling insurance companies to see if They could get a plan that costs less money. The TV talks about this all the time. He heard about this thing where you pay less money if you don't drive much. She doesn't drive much at all, so She thought it was worth finding out. He has been calling and calling, and so far found they could only pay about half of what they pay now. The insurance guy they have now is right down the street, and She wants Him to check with them before He gets all carried away.  The thing is, saving money is Her favorite thing, beside Me and Kasey and Kate and Eddie and pizza. Oh, and MazieGrace and Hana'sGran and and LW'sPeople and Her Crones - well - let's just say She likes to save money.  Since our house is paid up, She has to make the payments for Insurance, so She tells Him to go ahead and save all He can. She told me to get ready to write about taxes in a few months, because She has to pay those, too. Don't worry. She will pay them. She takes care of things like that. Kate and Kasey are having a snarl-festival, so I have to get back to the closet. Toodles.

Independent Cats

Another special day for humans, another regular day for us. It turns out that the country where we live used to belong to the one where Her beloved Eddie lives. Back then, a bunch of guys didn't like the way things were going and decided to break off from them. She listened to some guys reading the letter they wrote to the former owners and told them they were quitting. A big war happened, and where we live was free. Independent, they call it. It was a big lot of years ago, so they celebrate with picnics and fireworks, which scare us very badly. We are glad we don't have to be outside when they set off fireworks, because they are loud and scary. He and She think firworks are dangerous and don't use them.
Kasey, Kate and I are all independent, except for getting kibbles and water, but we make our own rules and don't pay any taxes. It would make me laugh to see someone trying to make Kasey pay taxes. Kasey still yows at Kate when they get too close. No big deal, she still yows at me. Happy fireworks. Bye.

Forgetful Cats

Last night, She forgot something very important. I am glad I wasn't at Cleo'sDad's birthday party to see it for myself. It was sad enough to hear about it. You see, She forgot something very important when everyone was having some interesting topics to talk about. These people are Their family, so They feel very free to tell what they think.  By the time the dessert was there, the topic turned to education, and you know that is Her main interest. Well, He got very excited and talked about a thing He read, and something hurt Her feelings. She started to argue with Him, and that was Her mistake. You see. He has a sickness that makes Him waver between feeling very excited and very not-interested. He was in the excited part of the sickness, and He hurt Her feelings some more with His talking. It almost made Her cry. He and She left the party, because everyone was very sorry about Their arguing. She was baffled, because He always was respectful to Her before. Always. They rode back home, and She came in to tell me about it. I reminded Her about the sickness, and She said that's it, Cofs. That's why He was so not nice. It isn't His fault, because He doesn't know it is happening.  He is very nice to Her today. She changed Her mind about not helping Him, and it is smoother now. She will be more careful if it happens again. Ooops. Kate is in the hallway. I have to dash. Buh-Bye.

Day Late Cats

This computer would not let me write my story yesterday. I did everything right, but the computer said page not found. After a lot of tries, I just went back to the closet and relaxed. Yesterday was not an exciting day anyway. Just more stuff about His project, mainly, and delicious ribs for our dinner. You can't believe how much She loves ribs.
Today was more interesting, because it started with Uncle John and Aunt Heather coming over to say goodbye. You see, they are moving to the place where Aunt Heather lives. It is very far away. It makes Her comfy to know that it is where Hana'sGran grew up, so it must be a nice place. They played very rough with Kate, which is good, because Kate was worn out and went sound asleep. I could move around with ease. I didn't have to sneak in here, now.  I got some snuggles before She went out and left me to entertain you.  They are going to Cleo'sDad's birthday tonight. They will have dinner with them, and bring a present.  I hope to tell you all about it tomorrow. Chow.
