One thing I learned very early in my life with humans is that they seem to want to believe in some powerful thing out there that helps them with their lives. Cats do not believe that, because we get all the help we need - and some we don't - from Them. They seem to get most of their rules about this from a very big old book. He and She believe that this book is about stories, and They think They are responsible for all the help they need, because They probably caused Their own troubles. But They do like one of the stories about some people that were stuck hiding from people that wanted to harm them. They hid in a cave and it was very dark. They had a light, but they needed some stuff to make it work. They had enough stuff to last just a little while, but the stiff lasted for enough time. They thought it was a miracle, which is something good you can't explain, like when Auntie Heather found Kasey outside, and they still celebrate that miracle now, a long, long long time later. She likes that kind of celebration. She says it is good to be glad about what you have. We decided we like that story, too. We don't like the ones where people get killed or punished some other way. Of course Kasey is sure that she is in charge of the world, but He and She say we are all in charge, mostly of ourselves.
I wonder if this is a miracle. I really wished that She would fix pink fish for our dinner, and guess what I saw on the counter? Yes. Pink fish. It is enough of a miracle for me. Shalom.
