No Thunb Cats

Maybe the reason that cats are born with claws is so they can hold on to things, because they don't have thumbs. Kasey and I belonged to people who took away our claws, then they didn't want us anymore. We would have been in such trouble if we had tried to live outside without any claws in front.  Instead we came to live with Him and Her forever. Now, our new sister, Kate, lives here, and she has claws. She is hard on the furniture, and He is especially sad to have her clawing all the time.  He bought Kate a special thing to scratch on, and she decided it is not as much fun as scratching on the chair and making Him yell. He and She would not take Kate to have her claws taken away, but if she were to scratch Kasey or me, Kate would be in some real trouble. I guess it is the same with people. They have some big differences, but they have to get along, so they decide to be careful if they aren't willing to be nice.
A while ago, He almost had to see what it was like to go without a thumb on his best hand.  Because of a combination of good luck and good doctors, His thumb was saved, and while it isn't perfect, it still works well enough so that He can do important stuff, like write and open bottles and use the can opener.  Today was his final appointment with that magical doc who saved most of His thumb.  It still has a little bend in it, and sometimes it feels funny, but the thing is, it works. It is amazing to Her, because She didn't see any way it would ever work again. It made Her wonder why people have to go looking for miracles when they are right here when we need them. It makes Her believe that someday, all three of us cats will be friends. Good luck with that. Chow.
