On the Edge Cats
Kasey and I have stolen a pencil and paper and are trying to make a list of important things to buy. Kibbles - check. Litter - check. catnip - check. Toys with feathers - check. That is about the basic expense of having two adorable cats. We are kind of anxious about this, because She says we are right on the edge right now. Either His flag project gets moving, or it will go down the tubes. I'm not sure exactly where that is, but from the way She says it, it means big trouble. Maybe because She was a Depression Baby, like I told you before, but She is very particular about money. Maybe because He was born a bit later, He isn't so fussy. I Tried to find out what She means about tubes, and this is what I have figured out so far. Start with his two ideas. One was about airplane models, and He bought a gazillion things for that project. The other was about flags. He bought quite a bunch of things, nearly cut off His thumb, and decided to change to one project - the flags. It so happened that He came across a nice guy who could help Him with that flag one, and He started going in the right direction. He got His flags finished and ready to sell. He really doesn't know how to sell stuff, so now He has all this ready to go, and if He doesn't sell His flags pretty soon, well, that's where the tubes come in. She says it mean He ran out of money. Here's a secret. She knows how He is about money, so She just did the usual grumping while He spent all of Their money. Meanwhile, She put aside two bits of money since She retired. One secret bit is to pay for insurance and taxes. She calls that escrow. Then She made an account with leftover teaching money, so She can take back control of the money and keep us out of the tubes. I think She was very clever to do that, but Kasey thinks it was cheating to make Him think He was going to lose everything. Luckily, He thinks it was a good thing, because She knows Him so well. I have a feeling that She will get kind of bossy now. You can't make Her use up Her money to get us off the edge without expecting Her to get fussy.
We are celebrating our getting saved by having some fish for our dinner. Ta Ta from the edge.
