Puzzled Cats

Dear readers, you will just have to get used to this, just like I have. Some days they let me on here to write, and some days they hide from me. I bet our Computer Guy would know how to fix it, but we haven't heard from him for a long time. Well, enough about that. Here's what is going on here. It has stopped being warm and started to be cold and rainy. He had to turn the heat on again, but She says we are luckier than our northern neighbors, because they have sleet, which is frozen rain. It turns everything to ice, and She wouldn't be able to walk at all. It is very cold and gray outside, and when we look out, there aren't any cats and not many birds having snacks. Mrs. Squirrel came out, but she has a fur coat. And still, she hurried. It is finally cold enough for Her to fix chili for our dinner. She puts beans in our chili, and LW'sMom says that shouldn't happen. Chili should only be meat and sauce. She can't help it, though. She learned to make Yankee chili when She lived very far away. He doesn't care, as long as He can put onions in it. You know She has all Her Christmas shopping done. Now She is putting things in boxes to send. When She finally seals up the boxes, She can't be tempted to put in one more thing. If you could see Her looking at catalogs, you would think She will have all Her shopping for next year done, too. She has to throw away the dozen catalogs She gets every day, and that makes Her sad, because it is such a waste. Every time She cancels one, She gets a bunch more. Well, I shall go and supervise the preparation of the chili. It just has to be un-frozen and made nice and warm to eat. They have plenty to watch on TV so it will be a nice, cozy evening. Chow, bellas.

Emergency Cats

Oh, my readers must be frantic. I haven't been able to write my stories for several days, because this story place wouldn't let me. I don't know what happened, and decided my story days must be over. After all, I have written a gazillion stories. Maybe the story place thought I didn't have any more to say. She helped me figure it out, so I can report. Well, I can tell you that things are just fine here. He and She have been getting some things done. She thought Her shopping was done for this year, but She realized She had two more things to buy. I helped Her look through catalogs until She decided on just the right things. She ordered a present for Her beloved brother. It was supposed to be for Christmas, but She found out they sent it now. I had to laugh about that. She thinks She has everything under control. I told Her to wait, but She didn't listen. Please listen to your cats, my dears. My little sister Kasey has been curling up in a tray next to His chair. I went to check it out when Kasey went to bed, and I tried to sleep in the tray, but I don't fit, exactly. I slept with my head and neck in the tray while the rest of me spilled onto the table. I believe I will leave that particular spot to Kasey. She sent away for some food with a paper She got from the computer, and they sent it already. She says we shall have omelets with roasted veggies tonight. I'll have to check that out. I don't think I'll like it. Well, bye for now.

Computer Cats

You already know a lot about computers, but what you may not know is that the more you believe something will be easy, the more the computer can trick you. I have had to help Her a few times in the last few days. To begin with, She bought some papers to save money at a restaurant. It is one where you order the food and they send it. She carefully checked the menu and took my advice about what to get. When She tried to pay for it, they wouldn't give Her the money off that She deserved. Well, it was Sunday, so maybe they didn't take orders on Sunday. When She tried today, the same thing happened. She was getting a bit salty about this and called them on the phone. A sweet girl took the order and the information and all was done right, tickety boo. Then we went to a place on the computer to send flowers for Mazie'sMom who is getting an operation on her knees. She and I carefully checked all the plants. She wanted to send plants because M'sM is a gardener and she could plant her flowers outside when she gets well. We selected some roses and put in all the info, and they wouldn't take the order because She had put it in as a guest. She didn't remember Her password, you see, and She didn't want to take the time for them to look it up. She told me She was starting to see why He yells at the computer. A little lunch. some coffee and a nice cookie (or two) and She came to try again. This time, everything worked just fine. Both orders were fixed, She even got a discount. That made a happy ending, for sure. You can look at my page and see that I figured out how to get my Saturday story posted, so now all our computer problems are solved. You may not believe me, but that is quite a day's work for a cat. I am going to have a nap while She comes back to chat with Her friends. The package that is thawing says meat loaf. We have had that before, and we like it. Toodles, everybody.

Know About Me Cats

There is a thing on Her computer place that says tell 10 things no one knows about you. She says everybody knows everything about Her, so She doesn't want to do it. Even Kasey and I know where she was born, what she likes and what She has done. Of course, not everyone knows about her adorable cats. I wonder if I can think of 10 things about Kasey and me. One thing is that I wrote a story yesterday but it doesn't show on the story page. I think a lot of people know that we don't have claws in our front paws, but they probably don't know that we can scratch a great long line with our back claws. Another thing is that I thought I had a forever family, but they gave me to the esspeeceeay because they said they didn't have time for me. I don't know what that means. He and She have all the time in the world to take care of Kasey and me, and we help them with a lot of things. You all know that I love snuggles, but you may not know that I am afraid of strangers and spend a lot of time hiding. During the day, I hide in the closet or on a chair under the table where no one can see me. At night, you will likely find me asleep above Her head, or on Her tummy. Did you know I help Her read the paper in the morning? I poke it and bite it and jump on it, so there isn't much bad news left when She reads it. If Her fingers are under the paper, I jump on them. She laughs at that. I like to make Her laugh. It is about my best thing to do, except for eating kibbles and licking Her plate. Did you know I like pizza? It is Her favorite thing. as well. She likes ice cream, but I don't like anything sweet. Kasey is very different from me. She hardly purrs at all. I am a purr-factory, She says. I guess that is all you have to know about me. I have to go check out what She is fixing for dinner My favorites are fish, pizza or chicken. Tonight it is chicken. Have a nice evening and enjoy the warm weather. It was cold, but it got so warm we had to turn on the fans. I'll try to find out why my story from yesterday didn't show up. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hot Cats

One day awhile ago, I told you about how cold it was.We were so cold that He finally had to turn on the heat. Well, today it is so very warm that He had to turn off the heat and turn on the cool air. The weather guy says that it will be warm for a few days, and then it will cool down to the 70s. I don't know about you, but Kasey and I think that is perfect. She had planned to fix a kind of food called chili for our dinner, but now She says it is too hot, and She will save the chili for when it gets cold again. He and She have lived here a lot longer than Kasey and I have, but She is surprised at the hot weather. She doesn't think it is funny. She says it worries Her that it gets so warm on these days that should be cool. She says that there are things going into the air that are erasing the layer that keeps the sun from shining too much on regular people. She belongs to groups that want to fix this problem, but there are a lot of people that think it isn't a real problem at all. It's another thing that makes her get grumpy about the news. She says we will have a picnic for our dinner, because that is what people do when it is too warm to fix chili. It is OK with me. For an old person, She makes some decent dinners. It almost got too hot in my sunspot today, but my fur soaks up a lot of hotness. Have a nice evening. I'll TTYL.

Ho Hum Cats

Not much new for Kasey and me today. He and She were both home all day and They did not need any help from us. We thought there would be a big de-cluttering going on, but actually, She was rearranging piles of her papers, notes and letters on Her desk. You would think it would be nice and cleared up by now. Actually, there is hardly room for an adorable cat (ahem) to lie down. It is a puzzle to me how She can be surrounded by piles of papers, when She used to make sweet, innocent children keep their spaces nice and clean. She says if She were Her own teacher, She would make Herself stay after school to clean everything up. She will try again tomorrow, because tonight She will be busy fixing fish and vegetables, watching Their Friday shows and having dessert. She wants dessert every single day, you know. It is lucky Kasey and I don't like sweet things, or She would find it hard to share with us. Speaking of my little sister, Kasey, He is getting out of patience with her because she always pees on His side of the bed. None of us can figure out why. He puts a cardboard cover down to discourage Kasey, but she manages to find enough space to make a little piddle. He had Kasey's insides checked, and they are OK, and He sprayed some keep off stuff on it. Nothing works. If any of you readers knows an answer, just email Her, or leave a message for me. I smell fish cooking. I had better go check that out. Have a nice evening.

Patient Cats

There are days when He and She have places to go, and we have to be patient, and wait for them to come home. Since His car has been broken, They are not usually gone at the same time. For example, today She had Her usual adventure with Rocky'sMom. She had a money-saving ticket for a nice place to eat where the ladies have gone before, but a money-saving ticket is a good reason to go back. Besides, the place has food that they like to eat, and She knew She would bring something home for Him to eat, as well. It was a wonderful adventure, but it is the last one before Rocky'sFamily goes away for the holidays. She will remind me what that means in a little while, She says. So after She got home a guy brought a big package to the door, and it was from Mazie. He and She opened it up, and it was completely full of those little cups that They use to make coffee-the-drink in the little machine. They will be wide awake for a long time. The next thing was a phone call to say His car was all fixed, so He and She went to the fixing place and He brought it home. It is all shiny and nice. So now we can settle down. We can get some snuggles and pets, and taste the food from the eating place, which has lots of red sauce. We can watch TV and rest up for cleaning up more clutter tomorrow. I will bet you seven kibbles that She stops to drink coffee about ten times tomorrow, since They got all those new little cups. So hasta manana, amigos.

Old Friend Cats

This has been a day full of His and Her good friends. He was talking on the phone with His friends, and She was having a meeting with Hers. She likes to be with Her Crone friends, because they know so much about each others' lives that they don't really have to explain very much at all. They can launch right into a story about their families and their adorable (ahem) cats. She said they don't call themselves Crones anymore, because there are young members now, so they just call themselves Friends. Crones have to be at least Grandma-level women, but Friends can be any age at all. They have even had men come to Friends' meetings. Who knows, they might just have cats join them one day. Most of the Friends have cats, so the ladies enjoy cat stories. Cleo'sMom had Cleo, who was not a cat, but Cleo'sDad is allergic to cats. That means cats make him sneeze and feel sniffley. But Cleo'sMom is used to hearing about the cats. She has even given presents to Kasey and me. One thing She forgot to tell Her Friends is that His car isn't fixed yet, after it has been at the fixing place for a whole bunch of days. Remember that they left out a part from the order and had to have the car part company send it. Then when it came, it was the wrong part. She is sick and tired of that place, but He thinks they are doing their best. I told Her that He should send an empty envelope when He goes to pay, then He should send a payment that is wrong, and let them wait a long time for the right payment. She thinks that would be funny, but He says it would be mean, and He won't do it. Lucky for me, She didn't tell Him it was my idea. It was very cold this morning, but it is much better now. It makes for some excellent snuggles. It is not going to stay very cold for long, at least that is what the weather guy says. Here is what always happens at a Friends' lunch. She gets so full that She doesn't want to think about dinner. I hope she gets hungry pretty soon. So does He. Well, TaTa for now, readers.

Glamour Cats

One of the places where She used to teach was a place for children who were very special because of their problems with learning. Some were more special than others, because they needed a lot of care and understanding. People at that school got a place where these special people could stay, and learn to do jobs get the right kinds of attention. This place has a store and a nice place to eat, and a plant place. The place is very pretty, and visitors go there for lunch or for meetings and to shop. Well, Hana'sGran went there for a meeting, and brought some nice things back for Her. The stuff is very smoothe, and smells like oranges. She has already smeared some of it on Her face and it made her smile. She doesn't look any different, but She does smell nice. She told Him that She feels like a movie star. So we are having a nice day today. It is a good thing, too, because it has gotten quite cold outside. We are lucky that we don't have to go out. She says this is a good time to have soup to eat, and I like that idea, because it is easy to share if you happen to be a cat. I had a taste yesterday, and would like to have some more tonight. Kasey doesn't eat soup, but when it is a little bit cool, Kasey likes to stay on His lap, which He really likes. Sell, I had better check out what She is taking out of the freezer. Stay glamourous, everybody. Later, gator.

Envious Cats

If you could have heard Her today, you would wish you had been with Her, too. You see, Her beloved Hana'sGran invited Her over to see some changes that were made to her house. Naturally, She was chuffed and excited to go. There was a nice scene when She got inside there. H'sG's porch had been made into a special eating area, with lovely rugs. paintings and peaceful scenery outside. While She sat and admired it, H'sG fixed a special lunch with everything She likes. Here's a thing that show's H'sG knows Her so well - she sent home a whole dinner for Him, out of the same stuff. I saw it myself. It looks so delicious that I may behave myself so I can get a little share. What a lucky thing for Her that She got to teach in a school with Hana'sGran. It was the same place where She met Rocky'sMom. Those ladies are really good friends. Besides a perfect lunch day, this was a special day to thank all the soldiers and other people who are fighting for our country, or the ones who ever have. As much as She grumbles about politics and the war stuff, She appreciates the people who help keep us safe. Back when He was a boy, every boy had to go into the service of our country. He went into the Marines. Hana'sUncle was in the Marines, too. That is a special kind of soldier. Now, after all the war and fighting, She just wants the government to clean up. I have to go lie in my sun spot now, so I will give it some more thought and talk about it later. Semper Fi.

Pawn Star Cats

One of His favorite things to watch on TV is a show called Pawn Stars. There are some guys that have a store where people bring things for them to sell. It is a Grandpa, a father and a son, and the son's best friend. In Her opinion, the guys are goofy and rude, and are very unpleasant to each other. He likes to see what people bring in and how much money they get for it. Sometimes He learns about the history of the thing. Since She likes to watch with Him sometimes, She just keeps track of the mistakes they make when they talk, and the times they call each other dumb or stupid. Those are words She doesn't approve of. He doesn't care that She thinks the guys are nasty, in fact He sometimes agrees with Her. The best thing about the show is that when both of Them are watching, Kasey gets on His lap and I get on Her lap and all four of us watch TV together. I will admit, it often puts me to sleep. There are all kinds of things on TV where you can learn things, so She is not sure why He likes this show so much, but it is nice cozy together time, so it's OK. I was ready for a quiet little nap today, especially after what happened this morning. When He went out to get the paper and feed the kitties, the neighbor's dogs came running up and barked so loud it woke Her up. They wouldn't let Him go outside, so He had to call the neighbor to get the dogs back in the house. Dogs are not supposed to run loose where we live, and those big dogs were scary. I know they scared away the two outside cats. She does not like dogs that aren't friendly. I don't much like them at all, except for a few of our cousins. Well, I am thinking some really good dinner would be pizza. I hope that is what She is thinking, too. Chow, bellas.

Grumbling Cats

Kasey and I are not grumpy cats. We are adorable, smiling cats - although Kasey does tend to be grumpy if you try to keep her from what she wants to do. No, we are grumbling about some troubles. His troubles relate to machine troubles. Yesterday His printer stopped working, which made him angry and He yelled at the fixing person on the phone. It was finally fixed, and He paid them some money. Today, exactly the same thing happened. If you know Him at all, you can just guess how He felt about that. They fixed it for him again, and He didn't yell, so the people were more helpful. Her grumbles came from a different source.. The electricity company. Here's what happened. A bunch of weeks ago, a guy came to our door to sell Them a different electricity company. He told the guy He couldn't talk right then, because we were eating our dinner. The guy went away, and we forgot about it until our regular electricity company called us and said they had been informed that we changed from them to the guy's company. It was silly. We never signed anything, we didn't change. We didn't want to change. We like our house the way it is. They said they would take care of it, but it might take some time. She waited a lot of weeks, and didn't get a bill. She knew we used lots of electricity. Well, today the bill finally came, and it was for two months. She said it was fair, but came as a surprise, and since our house is all electric, it was a very big amount of money. Of course She paid it on the computer, but She grumbled anyway. The only thing that cheered Her up was talking to Cleo'sMom on the phone. That was nice to hear, except the talk was about Them going away for a big dinner in a few weeks. I like them to stay home. As long as They come back, though, it will be fine. They have plenty to see on TV tonight, so tomorrow will be better. Poodle Tip (Get it?)

Medical Cats

Since She gave me some butter before She went to see Her doc, I felt very lucky, because She wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink. She put the butter on a plastic lid, and put it into the microwave, just long enough to make it finger-friendly. It does taste better when it comes off a toast or a bagel, but it was delicious to me. He did Her a favor and didn't make the coffee before She left, so She would not have to sniffle it. She got to the doc on time, and She says all Her numbers were good. She told Her doc about taking the new pills, but She didn't say She stopped taking the others. She doesn't want Her sweet doc to worry. She also reminded the doc that She doesn't want a big examination. I am not interested in having Her die, but if She gets sick, She doesn't want a bunch of pills and things hooked up to Her. I don't think I would like that, either, but Kasey says she wants to live forever, and if it takes pills and machines, so be it. That's Kasey for you. Here is what She told me. Everybody is going to die, Cofs. We must be careful with little kids and regular people, but old people need to face facts. She says She knows there are people who would feel sad if She didn't send them messages and stuff, but She wants to be in memories. She is just itching to give out the presents She has ready for Christmas, but we have to wait. She really loves Her doc, and always brings something for her little boy. Today She brought honey sticks, which is fine with me. She says honey is good for you, but Kasey and I don't like it. We do like fish, which is thawing out in the kitchen right now. Nomnomnom. Toodle Pip, everyone.

Breakfast Cats

Here is what Kasey eats for breakfast. Four Temptations treats and kibble, along with a big drink of water. Here's what I eat. Lots of kibbles, a big drink of water, and several fingers of butter. Here's what She eats. Toast with black berries in it, my left-over butter, and lots and lots of coffee. Later it is time for lunch, but She and Rocky'sMom decided to have breakfast again, this time for their lunch. They had lots of eggs and cheese and meats and flat pancakes. They thought they were pretty clever. She even got a breakfast for Him to eat for His dinner. I guess those two ladies enjoyed having a joke today, because they laughed and laughed about having breakfast for lunch and dinner. I believe She is very glad She doesn't eat kibbles. On the other hand, Kasey and I love our kibbles. So did our little sister Kate. So do the two cats He feeds outside on our porch. I don't pay much attention to what She has for lunch, but I love when She has fish or chicken for Her dinner, or something with red sauce on it, because I get to share that. There is some sad news for Her and for me tomorrow morning. She has to go visit the doc, and She can't eat any food or drink any coffee. She won't fix butter for me until She gets home, probably. I will try to be brave and manage not to make Her feel sad about it. I am practicing my brave face now, before I go to lie down in my sun-spot. Oddy-ose, amigos.

Forgetful Cats

Kasey and I are getting older, and we are a bit forgetful sometimes. It is something She understands and knows a little about. Her memory used to be so good that She could remember Her new students' names in just one day. She used to know Her part in plays after reading through it one time, or copying it one time. Words to all the songs? She knew them. Then, She started to get older. She kept it together until She retired from Her teaching job. Then, just like Kasey and me, She would forget names. She would forget words. I notice She talks more slowly now, to be sure She is saying the right word. There is a terrible disease that people get where they just forget stuff. She doesn't have that disease, because She worries about having it. The doc says that if you worry about having it, you don't have it. That is a relief to us, and to Him and Her. But why do you forget stuff when you get older? One reason is that you don't have so many conversations, so your brain gets dusty. She dusts off Her brain by doing puzzles and word games. She talks to me a lot, but not much to Kasey. He and She get into some good discussions, and Her brain feels better afterward. She has heard of pills you can take to help your brain, and She will find out more. Kasey and I have to remember a lot. We need to remember where we aren't allowed to go, and to be sure to use the litter-box and things like that. Sometimes She says she has forgotten more than we will ever know. It doesn't hurt my feelings, because She is quite chipper when She says it. Perhaps I will go and lie in the sun and think about that. Don't worry. I won't forget to come back tomorrow with another story.

Thrifty Cats

Cats are very lucky, because we don't need money. We don't even have pockets, or a credit card. We just have to help Our people, and everything we need just shows up. We don't have to go and buy litter. We just have to act like we are going to pee somewhere else, and there is new litter right away. We don't have to buy kibbles, because if we keep on rubbing and fussing on Them, fresh kibbles appear in our bowls. We don't have to pay for rent, or water, or lights. I don''t pay to use this computer, but She says somebody has to. I believe it is Him. It is He and She who have to have more fancy things. Since They don't have lovely, soft fur coats, He and She have to buy clothes. She will not buy more clothes, because She says She has enough for the rest of Her life. She even has clothes She has never worn, and keeps meaning to take them to sell at a nice store. She seems to feel like it is important to have things that go in Her gift closet. She is the happiest when She has given something to somebody. Now, you know She is very particular about money. Right now, She is saving up to pay tax and stuff for our house for the year. But there is a whole separate other place where She keeps money, and that is set aside for lunches and visits with Her beloveds. She did not have to bother Her buying stuff money to be sure She could always have those special lunches. It is interesting to see that He has learned to be more careful with money, as well. She thinks He has learned a big lesson by running out of money like He did. One day He will sell His stuff from His projects, and He will have plenty of money again. Kasey and I aren't worried. We don't need any money, remember? I saw Her take some chicken out of the freezer. I liked the meat loaf yesterday, and I know I will like the chicken tonight. I am just fine not having the berries that He fixes for dessert. Kasey and I just have treats for our dessert. Bun nweet, amis.

Edu-Cats

If there is one thing She will always tell you, it is how much She loved teaching children. It makes Her smile, whatever She is doing, to talk about how She somehow knew what to do to make children learn things. I laugh until my sides ache when She says it starts with order. No, not orders, order. If you could see what I see here at Her desk, you would believe She wouldn't know order if it sat on Her shoulders. But in school She started with order. She did not speak loudly, like He does. As quickly as He gets frustrated and starts to yell, He wouldn't have lasted two days as a teacher. If She got loud, it was from enthusiasm, and Her students knew that. Another trick was to seldom say no to students. If they asked to do something, She was likely to say, sure, as soon as..........and then name some time, like when the bell rang, or when the work was done. It was not Her style to tell a student he was wrong. She might say, that's one way of thinking, or, that might not work because (whatever) She didn't like Her children to be sad, unless it was from a story, and She could say why does that make you sad? She would give rewards. Sometimes people would tell Her She was wrong to do that, but She knew that some people need to know why they had to do something they didn't want to do. If you are in your seat when the bell rings, you get a candy. If not, you don't. It got some children in their seats faster, and all it cost Her was a bit of candy. Sometimes She would do arithmetic with a bunch of ads. She would tell them to buy so many of a certain thing and tell Her the price. She didn't like giving a lot of homework, especially when Her students had hard lives at home. Some parents wanted more, so She would give them some ideas of how to help their children at home. I like talking with Her about teaching, because it always makes Her smile. It makes me smile to know there is something named meat loaf for our dinner tonight. I will like that. Talk to you later.

Early Cats

Yesterday, before He and She went to bed, They turned the clocks back, the way They were supposed to. Some of their things are on automatic time, like the computers and the TV and His alarm clock. They changed the rest, and I thought that is all there was to it. Little did I know - or remember - that when I went to wake Her up at the regular time, I was an hour early. She told me to come back later, but I was ready to go, and I needed Her to get busy with that butter. When He woke up, He found out His alam-clock-radio had not changed. He had to make one of His daily calls to get things straightened out. It turns out that it had somehow been set to the wrong date, so its little electrons didn't know it was the day to change it. He was the first guy to get a computer, many years ago, and He had a job where He drew pictures using a computer, and then He tried to do a project where He made stories on the computer, but She has to laugh at Him and how He gets all fussy when He has a problem with the machines. But She only knows how to use the stuff She uses every day. She doesn't have a radio to wake Her up, She has an adorable cat (ahem). They don't have one of those magic phones, either. The kind that does all kinds of work, and takes pictures. She thinks She is as up-to-date as She needs to be, and He is already baffled enough. So all the clocks are right, and She will have to wake up earlier, so I guess things are OK for today. Bye, now.

Almost Visited Cats

It happens that our darling LW had a party to attend today, and her Mom said LW'sNextSister could come and visit us today, while LW was at the party. She had to say no, thank you. We haven't seen LW'sNextSister since probably last Christmas time. Since then, She has slowed down even more, and has given most of the toys and games away, and let the house get quite full of things that They put away a bit at a time. He hasn't had time to run the noise-machine that cleans the rug, or most of the other chores He does. So it turned out She and our house were each a mess. She did not see how it would be fun for Her beloved little friend to come visit. There weren't treats that children would like, because They don't have children for company any more. Her much beloved little visitor would have been in a pretty tiresome place. One thing She has wished for is that LW'sFamily would send emails to tell what they are doing, and maybe call on the phone when there is a performance or a prize that got won. It was easier for Her to just move along with Her cats and Her Facebook friends to entertain her. She gets notes and emails from Mazie, and Mazie's Dad and sister and brother come to see Her, along with Auntie Heather. Now, of course She feels sad again, but She will be fine by dinner time. She is fixing left-over pot roast with new vegetables. We all love that. I need to go and get on Her lap and give Her some snuggles, and maybe a massage, and by the time They have to change the clocks She will be fine. Tomorrow we can talk about clocks and changing time. TaTa for now.

New Day Cats

This is not a humans' special day, it is a new month day. We like the first day of each month around here. Today it is sunny and nice, after all the rainy days we have had. Halloween is over, and there is a lot of candy left over, just as I knew there would be. He and She will have to work that out, because Kasey and I don't like candy. He isn't supposed to eat it, so I guess that leaves it up to Her. He was supposed to go to a meeting today, but He didn't feel very good, so He just stayed home. It felt nice to Her to have Him here, especially since He felt better after a nice snooze. He would have had to get up early and drive all the way far from here, where Mazie used to live. And He would have had to go in Her car, because His is at the fixing place. We had our Butter, and when She came in here to Her computer, I came with Her and had a nice snuggle on Her arm while She was trying to use Her keyboard. She didn't complain, and She didn't dump me on the floor, so it was fine with both of us. It made me purr so loudly that He could hear me, and that made Him chuckle. We were all happy, including Kasey, who was asleep on His papers on His desk. The new month has a few things that need our attention. First, there is our remembering to change the clocks tomorrow night when we go to bed . We need to change them back one hour. Humans do the funniest things. Then there is some voting, and that is just the first week. This month is full of stuff, but I will tell you about the other special days later. I already know She is fixing fish for our dinner, so my nap in the sun spot will be getting ready for that. Have a nice new month. Osta la veesta.

Trick or Treat Cats

Honestly, I think humans simply have to have special days to give meaning to their busy lives. The one today is called Halloween, and if I remember correctly, it isn't a favorable day for cats. Kasey and I will stay safely tucked away here inside the house. There will be children ringing the bell and threatening Them with a trick unless they get a treat. He and She have a big bowl of candy so that They will be able to pay for the threat and remain safe. The weather guy said that it would be storming during this threatening time today, but as usual, he is wrong. There were terrible storms all last night, and lots of floods around town. She didn't even venture out for Her regular lunch with Rocky'sMom because the ladies were afraid of flooded roads and slippery driving. To tell the truth, I don't think Rocky'sMom really trusts the way She drives. We all stayed inside today, and at the last minute, She got out the enormous bag of candy that He got for this special day so that there would be plenty of treats. Usually, when the two ladies go for lunch, She brings home part of Her lunch and chooses a dinner for Him. Since She didn't go out, She has to think of something to fix for His dinner. Luckily, there are plenty of things in the freezer. One good thing is that He and She usually have plenty to eat. I just hope we can eat in peace with no little hooligans looking for candy, and for cats to pester. Have a happy special day, and eat plenty of candy. Good Boo.

Auto Cats

We are all chipper at our house today, mostly She is delighted that She will be seeing Her friends at their regular meeting this evening where She plans to eat a bagel, and maybe even bring some home. It's OK. I like butter from a bagel as well as butter from Her spotted toast. And it would be a little change. She used to eat a bagel every single day, then She changed to toast, and now She wants a bagel again. As long as there is butter on it, it is all fine with me. During the day, He and She took His car to the fixing place. That was a big deal for Him. Maybe you remember that He had an accident last summer. A person ran into Him, but they said it was His fault. I don't understand things like that, but please don't try to explain it to me. I am tired of hearing about it. So finally He has his part of the money to have it fixed. It will take a lot of days, but after tonight and tomorrow He can use Her car until it is all fixed. So today it was a lot going on about making sure of what it will cost, how long it will take, and how to share cars. Since She only goes out a few times in a week, it was easy to arrange. Kasey and I don't particularly like Their cars, because Kasey had an awful time when They brought us home from the esspeeceeay. She chewed her way out of the carrier and almost escaped from His car, and She had to hold Kasey all the way home. If you remember how Kasey feels about being held - well - Kasey hasn't really trusted Her since then. The only other rides were to the cat doc, and we were scared of that. The cat doc got rid of our fleas and gave us our shots. If we are careful, we won't have to go back any time soon. But we are still chuffed for Him, because He will really like having His car back the way it was, all nice and shiny. On days when She goes with Her Friends, He gets left-overs and we get kibbles. I guess it is OK. She loves that meeting. So aloha for today. TTYL.

Good Day Cats

You can pretty much tell what kind of day it will be around here by the way He starts His day. If He wakes up grumpy, He makes a lot of noise and wakes Her up. Sometimes He says bad words really loud and She has to wake up and say what's the matter? It is usually something to do with His projects, so your best bet is to let Him grumble and go on about your day, Kasey doesn't change what She does when He is grumpy. She gets in His way - just like every other day. She steps on His keyboard if He is typing, or she paws at His papers and lies down on them if He is trying to write or read something. He yells at Kasey. He says no very loudly. Here's what Kasey does. maybe moves a couple of inches and lies down on some more papers. It doesn't matter how mad He gets, He doesn't dump Kasey off His desk. Today was a different kind of day. He woke up happy and made a lot of little noises so that She would wake up. He wanted to tell Her some happy news. It was about His business, so She was perfectly happy to wake up and listen. She loves it when He is happy. He got a delivery of His shirts with flags all over them. I honestly think the shirts look very nice, with pictures of all the flags. It is easier to use than the thing He calls a display. It would suit Him if He sold enough of the shirts to become a rich millionaire. She says we will all be rich millionaires when He is happy. So this is a good day. It is such a good day that She will fix that thing She makes in one big pot with the stuff He is allowed to eat. I'll be glad to share some of that, so the good day will become a good night. Good Night.

Blue Cats

I was resting on a paper, and I happened to look down to see if there was an interesting story in it. The story was about being blue and I wondered why? I had never seen a blue person, and only our old sister Kate was blue in color. Maybe the story was about her. It wasn't long until I realized it wasn't talking about blue in color. It was about blue in feelings. When Kasey and I feel blue, it means we are sad, so we just have a little snooze and a snack, and then we are happy again. When humans are sad, they make lots of mistakes, such as saying they are fine, when what they really need are some snuggles. Instead of a snack, sometimes they get way too much to eat. Or maybe they don't eat at all. Nothing will turn us back to pink like a little taste of kibbles or treats, and then we move on. Sometimes humans drink too much of a beverage that makes them act strangely. When that strange feeling wears off, they are even bluer. He and She don't drink those kinds of beverages, so They can get over being blue, usually. Sometimes it is the way your brain is wired together that makes you blue for no particular reason. There are pills for that, and She has to take those pills. If she gets a little sad over something, though, all it takes is some time with Her beloveds, and some snuggles from Her adorable cat. (ahem). Next time I go to sleep on a paper, I will pick one with jokes or cat stories. I don't like being blue. Ah-dyoo, amis.

Alive Cats

She always checks the paper to see if She knows anyone who has died that day. They put in a person's picture and a little story about them. She also found out that someone on TV died, and even though She doesn't know the person in real life, She felt sad about it. It made me wonder about dying. When one of my cousins dies, it is true that I miss the particular cousin, and think of them. Mostly, I am sorry for myself when a cousin dies, because I won't get to play with him or her again.. Humans are much more troubled by this dying business. Some of them don't stop being sad for years and years. She seems to understand that better than I do. I think He and She are better off about dying, because both of them realize They are being sorry for Themselves. A lot of humans believe in places where people go when they die. He and She don't believe in that, and I wondered why. She told me She believes it is all in your mind, and if you remember the person, they send you memories and thoughts that keep them going. Her Grandma does that. It is why She likes being a Grandma-substitute. Whenever She is troubled, She thinks of Her Grandma, and gets answers from Her memories. It is different if it is a little kid who dies, because a kid didn't have a chance to make very many memories in someone's head. All this thinking about dying has made me sleepy. I am going to lie in my sun-spot for awhile, and think of my dinner. I will hope it is pizza, and sent Her energy-thoughts to see if I can influence Her. Pizza pizza pizza pizza............

Charitable Cats

Every so often, there are guys that come to our house and collect items to take to their stores and sell. When they get the money, they use it to take care of people who need extra care. He and She are very big on giving things to these people. She thinks They should have their own sale, but then, They decide the other people need it more. She goes through the closets and takes things They haven't worn for a long while, puts them in a big bag and writes the name of the place on it. He has given most of His stuff away, and so has She, as far as stuff to wear, but She was looking through Her gift closet today. She has bought some things for little kids, and She doesn't have any little kids any more. The LW is almost as old as I am, and She is the littlest one. Some of the people in the charities can find people the right age. At least that is what She hopes. I was helping Her find things in Her closet, and now I am just worn out. I need to be sure and rest up, because She has taken pink fish out of the freezer. I don't want to snooze through that. She says She might just put Kasey and me in that bag if Kasey keeps peeing where she isn't supposed to and I keep waking Her up in the dark. She is only joking about that, you know. He and She would be lost without us. Goodbye for now.

Night Stalker Cats

When it was late at night, and He shut the TV off, I curled up and went to sleep on Her chest. After awhile, I went up above Her head and settled down. I stayed there just fine until I started needing some pets. She didn't wake up right away, but I lifted Her hand up with my paw, and She finally got the idea. We had a bunch of great pets and I decided She needed a massage. She went back to sleep in the middle of the massage, so I let Her sleep for a while. After a very long time without pets, I lifted up Her hand again, and even though it was kind of automatic, I got the next bunch of pets. I settled back down on Her chest and She seemed OK with that, so I had a little rest before I gave Her another massage. I hope She knows how lucky She is, having two nice massages in exchange for just a few pets. When He decided to get up, I decided She had enough good luck and I went and got my morning kibbles. I hope you don't think She was too tired to go on Her lunch adventure with Rocky'sMom. Those two ladies went to an Italian restaurant instead of the sandwich shop. I was ready for some nice sandwich meat for my dinner, but instead She brought home eggplant. I was all ready to be disappointed, when I caught sight of it. It is covered with the same kind of red sauce that I can lick off Her pizza. This may turn out to be perfectly fine. I'll keep you posted. If I get some of that red sauce, I will be one happy cat. Maybe I'll even wake Her up a few times tonight. Chow, bellas.

Down Home Cats

This started out to be a plain day, but pretty soon it got special. Cleo'sMom called Her up and those two ladies decided to go to one of their favorite places for lunch. This place is a kind of country store and eating place all in one. When you first go in, it is like a floor-to-ceiling shop, with all kinds of stuff for sale. They have things to wear, things to play with, things to eat and things to give away as presents. They have clothes for babies and all ages up to Her age. Can you guess what Her favorite stuff is? You guessed it - the stuff on sale. She has Her shopping done for this Christmas, but here is what She told me. When Christmas is over, and everything in that store is on sale, She will take a big bag and go shopping for next year's presents! That is not a joke. She would do that, then forget what She has and buy more stuff, just like She always does. This country store has a country food place over on the side. She loves that kind of food, because it is plain and cozy, and it doesn't cost too much money. They have nice people to bring your food, and it makes you feel good just to be there. Of course it made Her feel especially good to be there with Her beloved Cleo'sMom. It is kind of a long ride, but it is easy to get to, and they have lots of places to park Her car. She says that there are a lot of old people who go there, and She thinks it is because of the old-fashioned food. She was pretty full when She came home, but I hope She gets hungry again in time to fix our dinner. She didn't bring home food for Him this time. I will return to my sun-spot now, and have a nice snooze before dinner. Toodles.

Electric Cats

Here is why you didn't get my story yesterday. Everything was going along as usual for a Monday, and I was waiting for Her to go to watch Her questions program. She watches it every day, and leaves the computer on while She tries to remember the answers as fast as the guys on the show. Sometimes She get the answer first, and sometimes She doesn't. ANYway, all of a sudden the computer shut itself down. So did the TV. The phone didn't work, either. The fans stopped turning, and it got very quiet. She went to sit in Her chair, but it didn't want to recline. It works by electric as well. She got out some iced tea, but the fridge was dark inside. It was amazing. He had a different phone, so they used a battery-light and looked up a number in a big book. I have never seen it open before. He and She called the electric people, and after quite awhile, They learned that it wasn't just at our house. They said it would be fixed in an hour, maybe. It was getting kind of hot in our house, because the fans weren't turning. He decided it would be a good time to have a nap - and She told Him He would have to go somewhere and get dinner, because our stove is electric. Earlier that day, we were just going along and not thinking about how many electric things there are in our house, then the electric went away, and we were just plain stopped. After about another hour, the fan started to turn and we knew the electric came back. She had shut off the computer while the electric was out, so there we were, just in time for Her to fix our dinner, which was nice meat and some little tiny cabbages. It had been so scary that I took a whole piece of meat from Her plate and carried it away to eat. I think I deserved that, don't you? Things are much better today - but you never know. So long for now.

Surprised Cats

He and She were watching a movie and Kasey and I were on lap-duty, keeping them safe, when there was a knock on the door. Kasey ran off when He got up to answer the door. It turned out it was our Aunt Heather and Uncle John. Oh, He and She were so happy to see these beloveds. It was kind of a festival of hugs for awhile. She sent Him to put on a shirt and they had a bunch of good conversations. Sometimes we all talk at once. Aunt Heather went to play with Kasey for awhile, because she is one of the humans that Kasey loves almost as much as Him. Uncle John petted me, and I stayed there with them, which shows how much I love these visitors. Usually, I would have run to the closet. They didn't stay long, because they wanted to eat dinner. They don't usually eat food at our house, because they only eat vegetables. It was a swell visit, and my idea of a perfect kind of surprise. It is National Sloth Day today. Sloths are very lazy animals that don't move much, so in their honor, I am not going to do any work today, and He and She will just have to understand. Bye now.

Popcorn Cats

One thing that He and She used to get all the time was popcorn. They just love popcorn. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I usually lick the salt off, or the cheese, if it has cheese. Well, today They got a letter from one of their friends who has a boy scout in the family. That is a good organization that He used to be in when He was a boy. Since they like the family especially well, They sent for some of the popcorn, even though it cost kind of a lot. You know how good it feels when you help somebody, and it is especially a good feeling when you get some popcorn out of it. She says it is flavored with cheese and bacon I know I will lick the cheese off of THAT kind. You know, when you are watching every penny you spend, and you get a chance to help someone - like a boy scout with a really nice family, you have to think about it pretty hard. Since They have enough for their bills and their food and kibbles for their darling cats (ahem), then it is a good thing to help. Here's how they save money. They don't go to movies, but they get some to come to our house. That way, they get to see five or six movies for what it would cost for one ticket. Kasey and I can sit on Their laps while we all watch them together. They don't go to restaurants very much, but if She goes for lunch, She has a separate card for that, and She doesn't have to miss special events with Her pals. A person has to spend time with Her friends, Cofs, She tells me. I know what She means. One day They will have all the money They need, but She says They have that now. She says We have enough, and enough is as good as a feast. That's what Her Grandma used to say, and She believes it. We are having a feast tonight for our dinner. Steaks all ground up, plus salad and vegetables. I will definitely help with that. Yum.

Today's Cats

Today I have to report on the Thai food. First of all, He loved His spicy vegetables with scallops, and the news you really want to hear is that I enjoyed the spicy food I licked off Her plate. She kept warning me that it might burn my tongue, but I really enjoyed it. I even ate a couple of grains of the rice that fell on Her shirt while She was eating. Paws up for Thai food. I am truly chuffed that we are having pink fish tonight. She has a paper for free shipping if She wants to buy some more. The big news today is that She felt well enough to go get Her hair cut. It was so long that She said She would have to braid it if it grew one more week. I am not sure what that means, but She sure looks better with it cut the regular way. I wonder if it is easier for Her to go out and move around when the weather is cooler. The degrees are lower and He and She say it feels nice when you go outside. She has all Her shopping done for Christmas presents, but they still send her around a gazillion catalogs. She sees things that She would like to get besides what She already has, but until He sells stuff from His project, She tries to keep in the budget. She says it is lucky She was never really rich, because this way you don't have so much to give up. The way I see it, as long as there is coffee and kibbles we will do just fine. It is starting to rain now, which seems to have made me kind of sleepy. I believe I will go have a snooze. Later, Gator.

Asian Cats

A lot of people believe that this place called Asia is just loaded with cats. I have no idea where this place is, but I think I would be happy there. Here's why. He and She like food from China, which is an important place in Asia. When They have that kind of food, I can't wait to taste the gravy and the sauce. It has it's own taste, not like the gravy She makes. Well, today, She and Rocky'sMom went to a different kind of Asian place. The food is from a country named Thailand, so it is called Thai food. Let me warn you. This food is spicy. When you order the food, you tell them how spicy you want it. She said Medium Spicy, and R'sM said mild, but both of their dishes were very spicy. Those were the two lowest spicy on the list, and there were three levels of spicy to go. She thought medium was just right, but didn't see how anyone would like the most spicy. It was written in red and had five peppers to show how spicy it would be. Here is something you might find interesting. She said the country where these recipes come from used to be named Siam - and that is where we got Siamese cats. When those cats yow, it sounds very different from other cats. Maybe it is because the food is so spicy. What do you think? So the dinner She brought home for Him is full of vegetables and brown rice, and scallops, which is His favorite kind of fish. I will taste it very very carefully. I like the way I sound when I yow, so I don't want too much spicyness. Don't worry. I'll report to you later. Sy-o-nara.

Blogging Cats

When Kate lived here, she asked me why I write a story every day. Kasey thinks it is a fine idea, but she isn't sure why I write it, either. I was writing for a long time before She caught me, and He says I can do whatever makes me happy. She doesn't get to see everything I write, because sometimes I have a problem with Her, and don't want to start trouble. The people who understand most is you - my readers. This place where we live is a real circus sometimes, and I need to let all my friends know what is going on. My first supply of readers were my cousins. You already know about them, so my next fans of my stories were the Moms of my cousins. By now, everybody wants to see what is going on at our house. Some days it is about what is happening in the world, like this government business. That is because it affects our house and our friends' houses. Sometimes my stories are strictly about Him and Her. They don't get a chance to talk to everybody they know. Sometimes it is just my thoughts about how things are working out for Kasey and me. The thing is, we are not just ordinary cats. We are thinking cats with our own ideas. Lots of cats think they are independent, but they really are tricked into thinking that, because their people don't fall for their tricks. Well, He and She have fallen for every one of our tricks, and so we get to sleep wherever we want and eat whenever we want, and play whenever we want. If either on of us is on a lap or a tummy, They don't get up until we say it's OK.. If our kibbles are getting low, we just bother them until they check our bowls and refill them. Kasey thinks it is not wise for me to admit all these secrets to you, because He and She will find out we have them wrapped around our little paws. It's OK. If She reads this, I'll just tell Her it was a joke to entertain you guys. I'll keep you informed of what's going on - but you have to act like you don't know what I'm talking about. (snerk)See you tomorrow. Toodles.

Almost Ready Cats

I hope I am not getting ahead of Him on this, but it looks as if He will have something to sell at last, after nearly two years of working on His ideas and spending all His money - and then Hers. Here's how it has been going. To begin with, He had an idea that He would get guys to build models of airplanes and make displays to sell to airports and airplane fans. To get ready, He bought about a gazillion model planes and boxes to send them in, and stuff like that. While He was working on that idea, He had another idea. She says He gets one about every ten minutes. I haven't seen new ones that often, so She might be joking a little. Now He was going to build displays of flags. It was a really interesting idea to Kasey and me. He got a friend to work with him. I have never seen the friend, but he knows all about business and things that He and She don't know about. Anyway, this idea turned into an idea to contribute to soldiers if you bought the flag things. He got a computer selling place, but it turned out to cost too much to make them. By now He was almost out of money. I could tell you where it all went, but I am not sure. He was kind of in a waiting position until He turned the flag idea into shirts to sell instead of displays. Now He has some of the shirts ready to sell, and He has put his computer ads back on, and has figured how to get money from people who buy the shirts. When He has real shirts to sell and ways to get back the money, there may be hope for His ideas finally. She made Him promise not to have another idea for years and years. He agreed with that, but Kasey and I will wait to see it before we believe it. I'll let you know how it works out. until tomorrow, bye.

Another Special Day Cats

You know how people have special days, I am sure. Well, this one is a bit of a problem. Today is a day that people have been celebrating for years and years. Now it turns out that some guys have studied this holiday, and found that the guy didn't do all the things they have been giving him a special day about. He has been getting credit for a long time for discovering our country. He couldn't have discovered it because there were already lots of people living here. Instead of being nice to the people they found here, he and his guys were mean to them. They captured them and hurt them, and gave them diseases they would never have had, and just acted like a bunch of bad guys. When She was growing up, this was a big day, with parades and everything. Her people, who came here from another country, were also treated badly, so they invented this special day to honor those people. The discovering guy was from that place, so they made it about him. After awhile, people began to find out what a nasty person he was, and how rude and harmful the rest of the people from over in that country were, and it was even worse for Her family's countrymen. She wishes the country would stop this day from being a holiday and sweep the damage under the rug. That means to get it out of sight. Regular people are not mean to Her countrypeople so much anymore, and it may be because they invented pizza. She and I sure appreciate them for that. I will not wish you a happy holiday today, because it just didn't work out that way.. Chow.

Autumn Cats

There were several days lately where the weather was very nice, and He and She enjoyed the cool, dry days. Kasey and I don't go out, but we love the weather anyway, because the air conditioner turned off, and it felt very nice to have the door open. She told me to remember way last year. She reminded me that it will get summery again, and sure enough, it did. We had to turn the fans back on, and He was all hot and sweaty when He came in from mowing the grass. You would think than when a cat and a lady don't go outside, the weather would not matter all that much, but She can tell when it is warm, because the electricity bill is higher. I don't think there are too many houses where the only source of cooling and heating and cooking and freezing - everything that needs power - is electric power, but Ours is like that, and She says it is more expensive. She just grumps when things are too expensive. Well, it is easy enough to cheer Her up. Someone sent Her pictures of babies laughing. Next thing you know, She was all smiles and chuckles. Since He forgot to get the pizza yesterday, She is chuffed about having it today. She wasn't too disappointed yesterday anyway, because She had some meat and rice tucked inside those green peppers that He likes, and She just needed to warm them up. That was a good way to save the day. Now I have to go and bother Him and Her so that they put some more kibbles in my bowl. TTYL.

Happy She Cats

Even though She didn't have a lunch with one or even some of her beloveds today, She is happy, which has been good for plenty of pets for me, and some treats for Kasey. Here is what happened. Last year, about this time, She ordered some strange cookies, and She ate one every day until they were gone - then She ordered some more. Then they were not for sale any more for awhile.. Well, She found out that they are for sale again now and She was chuffed. Then there was some sad news. They cost more this year. Next thing you know, She got a paper that said She could have a bunch of money off the regular price. Well, if you know Her at all, you know She sent for those peculiar cookies, and a guy delivered them today, in time for her lunch. The cookies are not like the ones She usually gets that are two white cookies put together with chocolate. These are chocolate in the middle, too, but it is a really dark chocolate, and they are way bigger around, and on each side of the chocolate is a really skinny cookie that looks like it is made of lace. It has very tiny pieces of nuts in it, too. Of course, Kasey and I don't ever eat chocolate, but still, those cookies do not look tempting to me. Have you ever heard of something called a good mood? He said to her those cookies sure put you in a good mood. All I know is that She feels happy. As if the day could get any better, She found two places where She likes to eat with Rocky'sMom, and got money-off papers for them. She says She is a rich millionaire today. Now, if He brings home a pizza for our dinner, I believe this will be Her favorite day so far. Never mind chocolate, I can eat lots of pizza. So, chow, bellas.

Down Home Cats

Almost every week, She goes on an adventure with Rocky'sMom. They try out new places to eat. Sometimes they go where She has a paper to save money, but sometimes there isn't any such paper. Today was a day like that. They looked in the newspaper and found a place nearby where they served country cooking. It wasn't like some of their places, where the food was like another country. This place had food that was from this country, but it was very plain, and there were not many choices. She told us that every day there were two meals on the menu. You really didn't need a money-saving paper, because the lunch included a drink, two sides, which means two more extra foods, and a dessert. The thing with the dessert is that you had to take whatever they had that day. If you didn't like that, you were out of luck. Instead of a lot of choices you just got a few. She liked that idea. At our house you don't get two choices, usually, so this place is sort of like eating at home, except you don't have to cook it yourself. Even though I like it better when She stays home, it is kind of interesting to hear about their lunch adventures. Every time they go, She brings home a dinner for Him. It is a gift from Rocky'sMom. He and She are very glad to have such a gift. They love Rocky'sMom a lot for giving Them so much. So She has Her leftovers, and He has His dinner, and both have gravy for Their darling cat. (Ahem). I think I will go get a drink of water and rest up for a swell dinner. Bye, now.

Gourmet Cats

A gourmet is a cat who knows what good food tastes like and is kind of fussy about food. People who are like that are called picky eaters when they are little, and gourmets when they grow up. She and Kasey are the gourmets here. Since I like most of Her food, I might be a little bit like a gourmet myself. He certainly likes good food. He eats about a ton of vegetables each day. He likes the food She fixes, but He puts onions and salsa on everything, so She just shakes Her head. Delicate flavors are wasted on you guys, Cofs, She says to me. Most of the food She buys comes frozen, and She gets very nice food in white boxes with ice in them. She tries new recipes, like the pasta meal that She makes in one pot. She likes to put cheese on things, and sometimes I like that, but sometimes it just sticks to the meat or vegetables, and I can't get hold of it. When She buys the food in white boxes, She waits until there is a big discount or free shipping. Those boxes cost a lot of money to get delivered, and She doesn't want to pay for that. Where She goes to eat lunch with Her beloved Crones, there is every possible kind of food, and you can get as much as you want. She wasn't very hungry today, but Her food was good and being with Her friends was even better. That is why the food on Her plate is better to me than the stuff in my bowl. It is nice to have a meal with friends. That is why He and She and I usually have dinner together every day. Kasey enjoys the treats They give her, and He knows what kind to get so He has what She likes. If He gives Kasey treats that she doesn't like, she sniffs them and covers them up with a towel or some paper. That's why Kasey is a gourmet. Right now, I hear Her in the kitchen, so I will go and see what gourmet treat She is planning for today. Oddy-ose.

Yawning Cats

Kasey and I are both sick and tired of the words we keep hearing all day. I believe you all know that this country is in a nasty mess, and the government is shut down. He and She are really pretty angry about it and are practically growling at the TV, and their computers when someone talks about it. It is not an easy thing for cats to understand, but He and She say there is a small group causing all this trouble, and they are being criminals. At least, that's what He and She say. I hear words like blackmail, and ransom, and hostage. Those are criminal words, I agree. What I want to know is why doesn't someone arrest them if they are being criminals. She wonders the same thing. He says it will serve them right if they ruin the country and make complete fools of themselves. The trouble with that is - I have noticed that there are a bunch of people who agree with them. She says it boggles Her mind how anyone could agree with these doofuses. That is Her way of saying She is sad that there are so many dumb people who don't really understand what is going on. He and She listen when our President talks on the TV and radio, and they believe he makes perfect sense. The doofuses say the President won't talk to them, and the President says they won't agree to fix the mess they made unless he gives in to everything they want, which includes stopping the health care business. Lots of people like the health care idea, so he won't stop that.I don't even want to hear about it when She is eating Her dinner. And it will be chicken, too. I may just get comfy someplace where I can't hear the TV. It is lucky She has a meeting with Her beloved Crones for lunch tomorrow. They can talk about more important things. I wish I could go with Her. Well, Sy-o-nara until tomorrow.

Frisky Cats

A lot of things changed around here when He and She adopted Kate, the Russian Blue. Our lives were turned around, because Kate was a cute little indoor-outdoor cat, and Kasey and I are kind of, well, older. And set in our ways. Kate was not allowed to go outside, but after nearly a year, she couldn't stand it anymore, and decided to go out. They tried to coax her back in, but Kate was happy outside. Then she was gone. It has taken quite awhile, but now Kasey and I have returned to some of our old habits.Kasey still hesitates to get on the floor, unless it is by Kate's scratching post, which Kasey just loves, even though she does not have claws. Also, Kasey has begun to get on His lap to watch TV, which she did not do before. As for me, I have learned to sleep in many other places besides over Her head, but I still do that sometimes. I get my snuggles again on a regular basis, and both Kasey and I have gotten very frisky, and chase around for no reason. I stalk Her toes and run away madly when they get close. One thing that makes Her tickled pink is when I get in my sun spot in the afternoon. She says everything is all right when I am in my spot. It is fun being frisky, as if we were kittens again. He feeds an outside cat every day, a Bengal cat. He has reassured us that He will not bring her inside. I believe He and She learned a lesson from Kate. We are enough cats for Them. Toodle Pip for now.

Scientific Cats

When She was looking at Her computer and visiting with her friends, She came across a picture of a kind of machine they can install in a person with His kind of condition where He can't eat too much sugar or other white food. Then the machine makes the kind of stuff that mixes with the wrong food and makes it normal. She thinks that would just be perfect for Him, Sure, He eats a gazillion vegetables, but He wants some white potatoes and noodles and cookies once in awhile, and he can't have them. She looked for the article to show him, but She couldn't find it. It had gotten lost in the electrons in the air. She went to another place to look up the info, and Whew. There it was. Now all She needs is to remember to show it to Him when He gets home. Kasey and I will help remind Her, because we are in favor of the way science can fix things, and we all like machines better than more pills. She has stopped taking almost all the drugstore pills and now only takes ones from the mail, and the ones that keep Her from feeling too sad. She really likes feeling happy, you see. He takes such a lot of pills that it takes him a long time to count them out. When Kasey and I had to take pills to stop the fleas, He had to put them in a special kind of kibble that had a hole in it. He put the pill in the hole and Kasey and I just chomped it right down. If it didn't have that very tasty wrapper on it, we would never have let them give us the pill. I am glad Science is always working to fix problems in the world. I will celebrate with a nice piece of pizza tonight. I love pizza. TaTa for now.

Determined Cats

I wanted to write my story very early today, but I had to wait for Her to start the computer. The trouble was, after She started it, She didn't go away. I tried to get Her to leave by getting on the keys, and shedding fur all over the letters, but She just patiently scooted me off and cleaned the fur off the letters. The joke is on Her, though, because there is still some fur in between. So I snuggled up to Her and put my head on Her hand, so She couldn't move it. She just reached over me with Her other hand to reach the letters. It was as if She didn't have any idea that I wanted to write my story. I bothered Her every way I could think of to get Her to go away. I was almost ready to bite Her, but then I realized She might just dump me on the floor if I did that. Well, now She has finally gone and I have the computer all to myself - and I forgot what I was going to write. If I know Her, She would think that was funny, so please keep my secret for me. Anyway, I am tired of all the government stuff, and the health stuff. Like hearing that too much fat isn't good for people and cats. Last night for dinner, I had some bacon, and let me tell you, I loved that stuff. It was almost as good as the butter I eat every morning. Maybe I was going to tell you about the bacon. I never had it before and She didn't think I would like it, since I only lick the plate, usually. LW'sMom does not see how I could do that. I don't have a germy mouth, but people say how clean can it be if I use it to wash my butt. She tries to tell them I clean it after I do that, but I guess She doesn't convince everybody. You would think the people would know I don't want a dirty tongue in my mouth. Well, She might come back. There will be left-overs tonight, so all She has to do is heat them up and fix some veggies, so I will bid you a good evening.

Affordable Cats

There is all kinds of stuff going on that is causing trouble for lots of people and cats, since so many things are being shut down because they won't get paid for. The guys who pay for stuff don't like this new plan to make sure everyone gets to get good health care. It doesn't affect Him or Her, because They already get health care that the government pays for. One time He and She didn't have health care. She worked at a little school that didn't pay very much, and He had lost His job. He got a very bad tummy ache, and They went to a doc in a store. That doc said He should go straight to the hospital, because it seemed it might be something that had to get taken out of His tummy. They couldn't go. They didn't have any money to pay for a hospital. They couldn't pay a doc to take anything out of His tummy. She was heartbroken. They went home. She sat up with him all night, and He got better. It seemed like a miracle to Her. She quit Her job at that little school and went to work for a big school that gave Her good health care for both of Them. She loved that little school, and Her very special kids, but it turned out OK, because She got to know Hana'sGran and Rocky'sMom at the big school, and those ladies are treasures to Her. When He and She got old, the government gave them good health care for not much money. She believes that if anyone had to go through that terrible, horrible, awful, very bad night, they would understand what it is like to have someone hurting because there was no money. So at our house, we don't know what the fuss is about. Kasey and I want to open up the government and be sure everyone has affordable Health Care. I will go write a letter to the government now and tell them. BuhBye.

Electronic Cats

One thing we have around here is a lot electronic things. There is the TV, and Their computers. Each of them has a computer of their own,and that is a good thing, because She spends hours on Hers and He would need His for business. Another thing is the phone. There are three phones, but they all have the same number. Almost every time He or She uses the phone, there is an electronic person who answers, and He and She have to push buttons and give answers to get to talk to a person. Lots of people complain about this, but not everyone gets as angry as He does. If the electronic person doesn't understand Him, He shouts louder, like He would do if the electronic person couldn't hear Him. It is something She tries to explain, but He doesn't see any other reason why the electronic person can't understand Him. He speaks clearly so He guesses He needs to talk louder. Then he answers in sentences when they ask a question. Suppose the E.P. asks Him for a number. He says stuff like I don't have a number like that. They ask him again and He says the same thing, only louder. It would make a funny comedy act if it didn't make Him so mad. That is why He needs to have a computer guy, because if something goes wrong, He gets mad. I haven't noticed Her getting so mad about things like that, but when She is watching the news on TV, then She's the one who gets mad and talks to the TV. Kasey and I have laughed, but Maybe it's not so funny. Getting mad gives you a headache, and we like Him and Her to feel calm and pain-free. Sometimes I have to jump up and give Her snuggles to make Her headache go away. Kasey gets on His lap almost every evening, and that makes Him nice and calm. Maybe those people who fight about the government need a couple of cats to make them calm and happy. I think I'll suggest that. Now I have to see what She is fixing. It smells like fish. Good evening.

Planning Cats

Here is the way I plan. I do it one day at a time, because every day is a new adventure for me. Not so much for Kasey, because Kasey's plans are the same every day. She gets up and has a treat, goes back to bed and sleeps until someone comes into the bedroom for something. Then she jumps up for another treat and goes back to bed. After a nap, Kasey goes to eat some kibbles and goes back to bed. This goes on until night, when she goes and gets on His lap for awhile, and then goes back to bed. In the middle of the night, she runs around and yows, and sometimes fusses with me, until I biff her, then she biffs me and goes back to bed. I have a zany life of a combination of routines and new stuff. It is routine for me to wake Her up in the morning, but sometimes I do it by putting my paws on Her face; sometimes I walk back and forth across Her chest. When I feel like it, I give Her a massage, and if She doesn't get right up, I give Her a couple of nips - love bites, I call them. Kasey and I don't write things down, of course, but He and She write things on calendars, so they remember their plans. Hers are mostly lunches or meetings, and after She writes them down, She doesn't forget them. She is usually excited to see the people in Her plans, so She doesn't need to check Her plans a lot. He goes somewhere almost every day, but She only goes somewhere if there is a beloved involved. Planning is a wise thing to do, because there is a really sad feeling if you would miss something. She does not like to admit it, but Her memory isn't what it used to be when She was teaching at school, and She wrote lesson plans. Writing things down is a good way to remember. I wish She would write down what She plans for dinner, because I like to know what to be ready for. Don't worry, Cofs, She says to me. I know what you like. I hope She really knows I like that sausage She gets. It is my favorite, right after fish and chicken. I'll go check on that, TTYL.

Last Day Cats

Today is the last day of the month named September. She says it is the longest month in the year. I looked at the calendar on the refrigerator, and I think She may be mistaken, because it only has 30 days, when the last one and the next one have 31. Unless time is different for old people, She may need to think about that. She says it is a left-over feeling from Her teaching days, when it was the time when students and teachers were getting used to the new routines and learning about each other. It kind of made time drag. But now She doesn't teach school any more, so it must just be a hangover. If you recall, I told you how sad She was to see those yellow buses picking up kids for school. I guess there are feelings carved on Her brain. The weather is still hot here, but Her computer friends are sending pictures of the pretty trees where they live, and She remembers those scenes from when She lived far away where it gets cold. She will laugh about it when it gets all full of snow up there and She is sitting pretty here in the warm winter. Now that this month is over, we will start the celebration season. There will be Halloween, when She will give out candy to kids who come to the door. Next will be Thanksgiving, with lots of good stuff to eat, and then Christmas, which is about giving presents to all Her beloveds, emptying out the gift closet. She will have everything sorted out, and only will have to worry about last minute stuff. She is excited about sharing it with Cleo'sPeople, and delighted that Hana'sGran will be going halfway around the world to see her family. It turns out She won't be seeing Mazie, but there will be lots of pictures. So tomorrow starts a new month, with new lunches and visits and lots of candy. I will look forward to a lot of good dinners, with plenty of fish. So toodles for now.

Government Cats

Things seem pretty normal for Kasey and me, but She is very disturbed by the government. She says I would make a better government guy than the ones we have now. These are the guys that take care of the country's business. The trouble is, She says, is that they are not doing it right. He and She voted for a President who wanted to get the country out of a mess, and She believes he had done a good job of it, considering that a lot of people don't like him. For one thing, the President wants to help all the people in the country, and in order to do that, he has to get some more money from rich people. A lot of rich people don't like that, even though they would still have a lot of it left after they helped people. That makes Him and Her puzzled. Maybe if they were rich people they would understand it, but they aren't and they don't. It makes Her want to cry because a lot of people don't help the President because they don't like his color. I think I already told you that different colors don't bother cats that much, but it bothers people sometimes. He and She don't care what color the President is. They think he is smart and fair, and that's the main thing. One country has been mad at us for a really long time. Now the President is figuring out how to solve the problems and get us back to friendship. She thinks that is what a real leader does. I hope that the news about that keeps the rude government guys from shutting off the money it takes to make the whole country work. That would be truly bad, She says, and She looks very sad about it. If Kasey and I could help, we would help keep things right for the good workers in the government and in the rest of the country. Then She would be smiling again. Since we don't know how to do that, I* will just say 'Bye for now and keep you posted.

Connected Cats

Kasey and I are connected to all our cousins by way of Her telling us all about them. We know that Smudge lives with a lot of brothers and sisters that his Mom whispered in for their own good. I know that Rocky is not a cat, but actually a little dog that acts like a cat sometimes. Our other dog cousins have gone to the big dog park in heaven. That's what She says, anyway. Our people connections are His and Her people, and we love them, too. Besides the people He and She get to see, there are other ones who She knows from here on the computer. When She decided that our Eddie was Her Grandson, She adopted other Grandchildren as well, and they live all over the world. She visits with them every day and feels very interested in what they are up to. I have heard that some people make fun of these kinds of connections, but you don't have to see someone up close to care about them. One of Her girls has married a nice man who lives where Eddie comes from, and that girl can't go live with her new husband because of silly laws, and She is sad about that. Her OperaGirl, who She has met in person, is going all the way to that country for a visit. Sybil'sMom lives in the same place we do. She is very sick with a bad backbone, and She always checks up on her. Isn't it a lucky thing that She can keep in touch with these beloveds and many others by talking to them on the computer every day? When She has good news, She likes to share it with them to keep everyone cheery. I think Kasey and I will be cousins with the two cats that come to our house for kibbles every day, but I don't want them to live inside here with us. I think it is very healthy to be connected to others. Sharing stories and pictures is a friendly way to live. I have to go check on what She brought in from the freezer for our dinner. Can it be fish? Oh, I hope so. Later, Gator.

Old-Time Cats

She went to a place today where She thought She had gotten stuck in a time machine. She was still amazed when She got home. She gets these little papers that tell Her She can have twice as much food for the money, and She loves to get those papers. She usually goes for a lunch adventure with Rocky'sMom, R'sM always insists on paying, So She gets these papers, and She feels like She is helping to pay Her way. Plus, She always gets a dinner to take home for Him. Let me tell you about today's place. It was a little further away than where She and R'sM usually go. She had no idea how fancy the place might be, or how much the food would cost. When the ladies arrived at the right address, it turned out that it was so old fashioned that they thought they were dreaming. Everything was from way over 100 years ago. The list of food they had was like old-fashioned food, as well. You went up to a counter that was like from an old hotel and told the girl there what you chose from the list of food. The girl gave them a number and they went and sat down. Later, another girl brought the food on a big tray. There were a lot of people there, mostly men. She likes to go to places where men go to eat, because She knows there will be lots of good food that doesn't cost too much. For Her lunch, She got a piece of meat that was as big as a plate. She got one to take home for Him, as well, and it had gravy that a person's adorable cat (ahem) would like. there were extra things, too. The place was very old-timey and they played cowboy music. The people were very nice, She said, and She would like to go back there sometime. She will check with Her lunch ladies and have a swell adventure on another day. It would be a good place to wear cowboy boots if you have them. I am going to sniffle the boxes and see what I can expect to share for our dinner. Yah hoo.

Older, Wiser Cats

It is tough to admit, but Kasey and I are not kittens anymore. My chin-beard has gotten quite white, kind of like Her hair. I didn't know Her when Her hair was brown all over, but She is old and maybe a little bit wise. I still get around just fine, and Kasey still goes for the highest place to rest and observe, but we are a couple of wise old cats. We have taught Her a few things, too. Now that we are all older, we have convinced Her that She can eat whatever She wants. We know that when you can eat whatever you want, you are not likely to pine for certain food, and then gulp it down when you can't stand the temptation any more. Some young cats would tell you to dye your grey and white hair, but at our house, we would jump on Her and stop Her if She tried that. Young cats like to look very slim and agile, but Kasey and I think we look just fine with a few extra ounces. If you know Her, you realize that She has been thin and fat, thin and fat, thin and fat. She took our advice to let Herself be fat. We convinced Her when we said Grandmas are supposed to look like little dumplings. She let us convince Her, because that is how Her grandma looked. Why struggle to be thin when you are this old, we asked Her. We reminded Her that He thinks She looks just fine. She loves to go with Her beloved Crones, who are all wise Older Women, and they agree with us. Of course they all look very good, but they are fine with the way She looks, too. She will meet with Her Crones tonight, and will eat whatever She wants. We will have our usual kibbles and He has leftovers. We will be glad She will be home tomorrow for dinner. OOh ree vwar for now, mes amees.

Surprised Cats

You all know how She is about bargains. You may even know that He is not so particular about money. Well, imagine our surprise when He told Her that He was going to a place where they give big bargains and joining up for a card to shop there. It turns out that he found a kind of iced tea that is perfectly OK for His sugar problems. Not only did He learn of it, but it is also a great bargain at this one place. She says that is very good news now that They have just a little money. Maybe She should have let Him spend all their money before. It might have made him particular a long time ago. I guess it isn't too late to help Them keep a comfortable life and keep plenty of kibbles on hand. Those cats that live outside and come here for breakfast use up our kibbles more quickly, but He insists on feeding them. She saw the Bengal cat on Sunday, and She reminded Him not to let her in. He just loves that cat. His favorite cat is Kasey, though. Now that Kasey comes to sit on His lap every evening, like I do with Her, He wouldn't do anything to change that. It makes Him so happy that She has to chuckle at them. I hope there aren't too many surprises for awhile, because I like things to be routine and dependable. For instance, now I would like to go have a snack and a big drink of water before I sit down to watch TV. Chow, bellas.

Monday Cats

Every day is pretty much the same for Kasey and me, but people seem to count Monday as the beginning of a new plan. She checks Her to-do list and adds a couple of projects to it. To hear Her tell it, She will have this place absolutely organized by the day They call Friday. Saturday at the latest. What She forgets is that She never finishes that list, and every Friday, everything is just the same. He tells me that when She used to go to work, She got much more done, because She only had Saturday and half of Sunday, and everything was neat. Everything was filed and put away, or tossed in the bin. Right now, it is kind of scary, the way things are piled up. When Kasey comes in and jumps up on Her desk, she walks very carefully, so she doesn't slip off a pile of catalogs when she goes to eat her treats. I make it my business to stay on the wood part of Her desk, right where Her keyboard is, so I don't slip and fall. She either types Her words under me, or snuggles me close so She can reach. If He has to use Her computer, He is likely to just dump me off the desk. I think Teachers have more patience than creative geniuses. One job She has finished is making sure the people on the phone got all Her papers and will send some money. This is it, She told Him. That is all of it. I'm not worried, though. She is still really chuffed about seeing Mazie'sDad and -olderSister. They had a fun visit. Guess what. I didn't go into hiding. I stayed and behaved very nicely for the visitors, but I didn't let M'sOS pick me up. The only hard part was when M'sD said they would not be coming for a visit at Christmastime. It turns out that Mazie'sMom has to get a new knee, and she won't be well by then. That makes Her wonder if She will ever see Mazie again. He says of course She will, but that is a Monday for you. It start a new to-do list, but it has ways of bumming you out. I think She needs to relax and get some snuggles right now. Cheers.

Anticipating Cats

Yesterday She got a message from Mazie'sDad, who lives very far away near where the President lives. It turns out that he is coming to our city for his work, and he will come and visit us today. He will bring Mazie'sOldestSister. It is kind of funny, because M'sOS lives right here where we live, but she works hard as a teacher, and she is too busy to visit, usually. I am learning a lot about teachers. One is that they work way harder than people think, and also they never quit being teachers, even when they retire. When She looks around our house, She says it is not really ready for visitors. I think it is common to wait until there is a visitor coming to look around and say we should have cleaned this or that. I see Her deciding that these are people who love Him and Her, and they won't care. I know that it doesn't bother me. Personally, I like dust and cat hair. It makes me feel right at home. He does a lot to keep things nice, because She is best at sitting and visiting with friends on the computer. It makes her feel very grateful to Him for doing all that work. I don't know about this ship She talks about, but She says when it comes in, She will hire a cleaner. I am not exactly pleased with that idea, but I don't think I have to worry, because I have never seen this ship. I think I will peek out at the visitors, but I will probably go and hide while they are here. Talk to you later.

Knackered Cats

Yes, She had a lovely time at the art show, but I thought She was never coming home. When She got here, She told us what a good time She had, and was all happy and stuff. Trouble is, She had kind of overdone Herself, and was perfectly ready to turn in after Her comedy guy show. Kasey and I checked on Her several times, but finally He had to wake Her up before She slept all day. I have been sticking with Her, even though I am tired myself. Kasey just stays asleep, because that is how Kasey is. He was tickled that She went out of the house, because She almost never does, except for lunch with beloveds and Crones. Maybe She is getting better? She just says She is happy the way She is, and will not change much. After all, She has a darling cat (ahem) that needs Her here. Just to prove how much She loves me, She is fixing fish for our dinner. The news about His computer is that he found out how to get His mouse to work, so She and I have a way to get our thoughts and ideas out there. This way, I can report to you that it is actually raining, and the weather guy says it will even be cooler this weekend with all the rain. That is good news, because it will be the start of Fall, which is when it begins to cool off and there are a bunch of special days that humans like so much. Our cousins in another place have so much rain that it has made a flood, and here people and cats are celebrating because it has finally rained. I guess when there are big spaces that is what happens, but still, She doesn't like it. She says there is trouble in the big picture, whatever that is. I hear a familiar sound, and it might be Him filling my food dish. Excuse me while I go and check. Oddy-ose.

New Day Cats

Things are much nicer around here today. We are all friendly and pleasant, which is - I am sure - the result of generous cat-snuggles. Kasey even came out and snuggled on His lap. I believe He and She took all these snuggles to mean things are not so bad and we can enjoy a lot of things. You know I would prefer it if She would stay at home, but there is nothing like some time spent with friends to put a smile on Her face. She can't grumble when She is smiling. I believe things are looking good. At least, He has brought home a bag of kibbles as a back up for when these run out. He was talking about Her selling Her car, but She was not ready to do that just now, and figured out a way for Him to manage without doing that. She told me that we should work out a cute cat-movie that He could sell, but I am pretty sure She was joking, since Kasey would never go for that, and She knows it. She won't be home for our dinner tonight, but He is proud that She has agreed to go to an art show with Smudge'sMom. She must really trust S'sM, because She almost never goes out, except with people She trusts. She made sure that He has something good to eat, so there may be a plate to lick after all. He isn't as good with that as She is, so I'll have to let you know later. I will go and rest up, now, so I will be wide awake when She comes home. She will tell us about the Art Show. Sy-o-nara.

Pity Cats

Kasey and I are just relaxing, but it isn't easy, with all the grumbling and whining going on around here. He and She are both grumbling about money. If you remember, He has spent a lot of money on His projects and every once in awhile, She gives Him grief about it. What She wonders is why He can't sell some of this stuff and get them out of the poor house. I think She means here where we live, because it is the only house She and He have. If you ask me, the reason She is being unpleasant is not because of Him and His money at all. I believe it is the TV. She looks at news and it is about shooting and politics. Both of those are depressing to Her, and when a bunch of problems come at once, She gets salty about it. This is a lady who always looks on the bright side, but today, time goes on and She has trouble finding the bright side. One of Her facebook friends was rescuing a sick little kitten, and that kitten died. She had to fight back tears. Other people put up pictures of animals that are abused. She can't stand that. There is one thing I know will make Her feel better, and as soon as I get done with my story, I will go and give Her some lovely snuggles. That always works. She has to cheer up before tomorrow, because She has lunch with Rocky'sMom and then She is going someplace with Smudge'sMom later. She has to feel chipper for those things, because they warm Her heart. At least we know that there is meat defrosting for our dinner tonight, and that's kind of a good sign, too. Just don't let Auntie Heather know She is fixing meat. Auntie Heather and Uncle John don't eat meat, and it worries them when other people do, because it hurts animals. That bums Her out, too. Well, you will excuse me now, because you know I have snuggle-work to do. Toodle Pip.

Identity Cats

As you may not know, cats can be many types and many colors. Certain colors and patterns give cats their identification. It is kind of the same with people, although their classifications are a bit simpler, and there are not so many of them. He and She can be identified as white people, but that is just a name, because they are more pinkish-tan than white. Remember, I am called an orange tabby, and you know my color is more of a tan, like coffee-the-drink when it has cream in it. We all know my sister, Kasey, is a tortoiseshell kind of cat. We look very different. Today I am interested in the two cats that He has been feeding in the front of the house. One is black and white. She says he is called a tuxedo cat, because he looks like a person dressed in fancy clothes. I don't see it, myself, but if They can call themselves white, I guess they can be wrong about the black and white cat. The other cat was more puzzling. None of us had ever seen a coat like his before. He is grey, with darker grey spots on his sides, and stripes on his legs and tail. She went to Her computer and looked up kinds of cats. She wrote in a description, and up came a bunch of pictures of Breakfast Cat. It turns out that he is called a Bengal Cat. Now, I have heard of Bengal tigers, but I had never heard of a Bengal Cat. This Bengal guy is not as big as I am. He is more of Kasey's size. This cat is not dangerous in any way. He just loves Him, and eats so much so quickly that He thinks it is the only food he gets. I have a sad feeling that He may want to bring the Bengal inside. I don't like that idea at all. Bengal has claws, and probably fleas. I do not mind that he is eating up so many of our kibbles, as long as he stays outside. I will not share Her lap, like I did with Kate, and he couldn't have any of my cozy sleeping places. My opinion is that Bengal should stay outside. Kasey really doesn't care. With that I will wish you a pleasant night. Cheers.

Sneaking Cats

Since She is busy and He is having a little nap, I am taking advantage and popping in to greet my readers. Actually, things here are calm and quiet, since He is working on His projects. His latest project is selling his gazillion model plane kits on the computer. She does not hold out a lot of hope, but She doesn't see any point in bothering Him about it. He is a little salty when She makes suggestions. I guess it is because He knows She is right and feels embarrassed. He has no money and yet there are all those boxes of airplanes. I have to tell you I'm on Her side about this. It takes money to buy kibbles, and now there are FOUR cats eating them. Besides Kasey and me, there are two cats outside that get kibbles every single day. They don't even help around here like Kasey and I do. At this rate, He will be using up all our kibbles. He may as well get a dog. He is so tickled with these visiting cats. I have learned that there will be fish for dinner, which is somewhat soothing to me, and She has been fixing those nice orange potatoes. We love those. I hear His clock starting to beep, which means He is waking up. I will sneak back to the windowsill and watch for strange cats and make mean faces at them. Until next time, 'bye.

Attention: Notice Cats

Dear Readers, It looks as if I will be absent for another day or so, because His computer is broken, Their computer fixing guy can't get to it for awhile, and so I don't have a chance to write my stories. I will try to be brave if you will, and I will come back to tell you about our visiting cat and Her new catalogs. Stay well and get some rest. Bye for now. Your friend, Coffee.

Have Cats

One thing we keep hearing about is Class War. That means some people have a lot of money and really don't care about poor people and cats. She says it is between the Haves and the Have Nots. When I check into it, I have decided that Kasey and I are Haves. Here is how I sorted it out. We have a nice, cozy house with plenty of soft places and people to rest on. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We don't have a swimming pool, but He and She don't care about swimming, and Kasey and wouldn't go into a swimming pool without a giant struggle. When we have to go to the vet, we have a pleasant car to ride in, and each of us has a nice roomy cat-carrier. Yes, we make an awful fuss when He and She take us to the vet, but there are a bunch of cats that don't get to go, and they have kittens and fleas, and there is nothing to help them. Kasey and I have bowls that He fills with kibbles every time he sees the bottom of the dish. We have containers with water, and He and She check them several times a day to be sure the water is clean and fresh. We tend to get kibbles in our water if the dishes are too close. We don't like that. But here is the best thing that we have. He and She love us and pet us and skritch us and snuggle, so we know we are safe and loved. There maybe cats who get fancier food, but no cat gets any fancier love and brushings. She says She is a Have person, because She has us, and other beloveds. She feels pretty good for an old person, and She has enough of what She needs. She always says She has enough, and enough is as good as a feast. There are lots of people and cats who don't have enough. At our house, we are Haves. Toodle Pip.
