Routine Cats

We have some routines at our house. Kasey and I have the best routines. The day starts with getting Him and Her up and out of bed. Then we have to have a little snack and go watch the birds in the back yard. Kasey gets three treats and I get several fingers of butter while He finishes His breakfast and goes to His desk. Kasey then goes into the bedroom for a short nap and then goes to His desk to help Him with His work. All this time, I am asleep on the back of the couch. When She goes to Her computer, I jump up and get some pets and skritches and get a nice brushing. If I feel like it, I get into Her inbox for a little rest. That takes me until Her lunchtime, when I observe her choice of lunch very carefully, and jump up for a close look and maybe a taste. After a morning like that, of course I am hungry, so I have some more kibbles and lie down under the table until my lunch settles, about two hours. By this time, Kasey has come into the room and she and I chase each other and sharpen our non-claws on the chairs or the scratching post, which smells like catnip. Sometimes Kasey goes quite wild when she smells the catnip, which makes Her laugh. By this time, the sun has started to come in the window, so I go lie in my sunspot and enjoy the warm sun. I help Her get ready to fix dinner, and while She watches Her questions show, I write my stories. When dinner is ready, I get on the arm of Her chair and taste what is on Her plate, That is when I lie down on Her tummy or chest and we watch our shows. I admit some of these shows don't interest me as much as Her. I have been known to doze off when they are tiresome. When it is time for bed, Kasey and I have some kibbles and lie down not too close to each other - maybe six inches apart and finally get some rest. The only thing that changes our routines are if He or She goes away for a visit or a meeting. If that happens, we remain alert and make sure no mouse or bird or bug comes into the house. We like having routines. It makes us feel important and safe. She is fixing something with meat and noodles, so I know I will like it. Ah-dyoo, cheries.
