One thing They have been doing over the last few weeks is watching awards shows. You know They like Their television, and They play lots of movies. They even went to see one at the movie place, because so many of Their friends liked it. So They like to see if any of the shows They like would win any prizes. The guy that was in the movie everyone liked won lots of awards, and he seems like a nice man. Their TV doctor didn't win, but that's OK, She said, because She doesn't like it so much this year. Kasey and I decided to give some awards out ourselves. I don't think it will be on TV, so we will just tell you. For Best Snuggles, She gets the prize. Kasey doesn't like snuggles, so she didn't care. For the best kibble-giving, we chose Him, because He makes sure ur dishes are always filled, and He gives kibbles to the outside cats, as well. For the best neighbor, we picked Katy-next-door, because she comes by almost every day. For the most pictures around the house, we chose Her beloved Eddie, because everywhere you look, there is a picture. We may think of other awards to give, but for now, that is all we have. We would have to name all of our cousins as favorite cousins, because we love them all the same. Who would you give awards to?
Tomorrow is the day She gets Her pay for being a teacher for a lot of years, and She has to remember what to get at the store. Goodness knows She doesn't want to run out of root beer. I suggested some extra fish, but we'll have to see about that. I want to thank all the people who voted for me to be Best Cat. (Snerk) Don't tell Kasey I said that. Toodles.

Last Sunday Cats
Today we were talking about the last Sunday in January, and thinking about all the nice things that happened this month. It started with a party and OperaGirl's birthday and goes all through nice lunches and teas and a date for brunch. We had Crones and Thinking People and saw some nice movies. So we are kind of sad to see January go. Everyone was healthy, and everything worked, which is not true of all months. But starting day-after-tomorrow we will get a new month, and that one is really fun. Two of Her favorite days happen in that month. One is called Valentines Day and the day after that is Her birthday. If I were as old as She is, I would be excited about my birthday, too. She says that having another birthday is a good thing, considering the alternative. I think I know what She means by that, don't you? One wonderful surprise is that Her beloved Mazie is coming next month and They will see her for lunch. That makes Her tickled pink - and Him, too. Don't tell Her, but I think He is getting Her a new microwave for Her birthday. The one we have now is 30 years old, and He is afraid it's going to conk out one of these days.
Well, we spent a good day today, and will be ready to start a new month after one more January day. If we were Chinese cats, like the one on Her windowsill, we would be getting ready for the Year of the Rabbit. That sounds kind of nice and quiet, and She says it is a peaceful year. I hope that is true. Farewell, January, and farewell, readers.

Frisky Cats
He told us that there is a kind of kibbles named friskies, but that is not why we are frisky. There was just something in the air today that made Kasey and me chase each other all over the place. In fact, we ran all over the place without chasing each other - just chasing phantoms. At least that is what He said. They really laugh at us when we are being frisky cats, and it is fun to make them laugh. It does wear a cat out, though, so Kasey and I got in some serious nap time.
She went away kind of early, for Her. She was taking Katy'sMom and Katy'sGirl to see a doc. It was kind of far from our house, but Katy'sMom's car can't go that far, so they all go together, and it is a fun time to laugh and talk. That is why He had to tell Her about some of our friskiness. She was glad it didn't rain, but it is supposed to rain tomorrow. That is too bad, because there is a big race going on here in the place where we live. Her beloved Eddie ran a big bunch of races like that, and if it would rain, he would run anyway. That is why She thinks the race will happen even if it rains.
One thing She was wishing for today was a pizza. Since He doesn't eat meat, there was not much of a reason for Her to get a pizza, but She will get one on another day, just you watch. Remember when She was wishing for Bar-B-q ribs? Well, I'll bet you ten kibbles that She gets a pizza one day this week. We'll discuss it later.

More Cousins!
Who would have thought that we have more cousins from very far away where there are mountains. Kasey and I have never seen a mountain, but She says they are nice to look at. Our mountain cousin belongs to a very good friend of His and Hers. She lives kind of close to where Her beloved PoetryGirl lives, but they don't know each other, and PG doesn't have any cats. What reminded Her of this cousin was something about treats. I think she likes treats exactly like Kasey, and thinks she deserves a treat when she wants it. Our Cousin'sMom tells her that she will get fat, but She tells Kasey that she will gack up the extra treats for Him or Her to clean up. I can do perfectly well without any treats, as long as I get my butter. Today I had seven fingers of butter while She read the paper and ate her toast with the black spots on it. Kasey will not eat any butter from Her fingers, but if She sneaks a bit of butter onto a piece of clean paper, Kasey will come up on the table and lick it up when she thinks we aren't looking. (snerk)
Today She got a letter in the mail about a place that sells fish, and She is seriously considering it. I am urging Her to send for it, but She says She would have to mortgage Her cats to pay for it. The way She says it, it doesn't sound as if I would like to be mortgaged. Kasey wouldn't care, as long as she still got her treats. I will let you know how this all works out in another story. Maybe tomorrow. Chow for now, pie-zonz.

Friendly Cats
Nothing makes a person or cat feel better than having some time with friends. She is positively rich in friend-time, after having an evening with the most wonderful Crones and Cronelets. They had a great time enjoying some good things to eat, and laughing together. An added joy for Her was that Mazie's oldest brother was working where they had their meeting, and She got to visit with him for a little bit. When She got home, we could see that She was chuffed.
But that isn't all. Today She woke up singing, because She was having lunch with her beloved Hana'sGran. H'sG said She liked her new name, and if you saw pictures of Hana, you would surely know why! Anyway, they had a nice visit, and my favorite part was that She brought home some of Her shrimp. It will be a good dinner tonight. One small problem is that He saw the leftover shrimp and vegetables, and thought He would like some of it, too. Well, why not. He can have the green vegetables, and She and I can eat the shrimp. That will work.
Her CroneFriend that is in the hospital is getting a nice bunch of food from Her and the Crones. She was having trouble getting the bargain thing working, so She called to get it straight. The people were so nice that She felt relieved, and the stuff will get there in two weeks, guaranteed. Crones take care of each other, She says. And She takes care of Kasey and me. I am a happy cat today. Hope you are happy as well. Bye for now.

New Scare Cats
Just because it is not easy for Her to walk around, there is no reason to scare me into the closet. A long time ago, She brought home a machine for helping people walk. She got it when He bought His mother a new one. He put it in the shed in the backyard, and I forgot all about it. Now She is so afraid of falling down that He brought it back into the house. He called it a rollator. Kasey sniffed it all over, and I wasn't particularly worried until She came and tried walking with it. Well, it made some new noise, and I was pretty sure it was going to run over me, so I took the sensible route and went into the closet. It is horrible to look at, with its wheels and levers. It's folding-down seat makes another scary noise when it falls down. After all, She went to Her OperaGirl's house and didn't fall down once. I think She should just try harder. Oh, what is a scared cat to do?
Things look better for all of us tonight, since it is time for a meeting of Crones, who are Her good friends. And tomorrow She has plans with Her beloved Deena'sMom. You know, I feel bad for saying Deena'sMom, since Deena is gone away, like Cleo.l I think I will call her Hana'sGran. That sounds kind of musical. And She will know just who I mean. So if it is Crones tonight, that means it will be just kibbles for me tonight. I am fine with that, because She will be so happy. And who knows what She will bring home tomorrow. So, ToodlePip for now.

Coffee the Thinker
You know that He and She like to go to their Thinking People. Well, I like thinking, too, and showed Her how much I like to think by sitting on Her keyboard so She couldn't answer Her messages without a lot of thinking. Never mind that She was thinking about how to get me to move without hurting my feelings. I sat and thought until She gave up, and now I am here to write my Thinking story. Mostly, I like to think about where to sleep. In the afternoons, my favorite place is in the sunshine spot by the window. Of course, the chair under the table is kind of cozy, with a soft seat - and very few people can find me. We all know my favorite at night is close to Her head. That's a place is just have to be, or what would happen to Her? I also like to think about what is for dinner. Tonight, I'm thinking about some of the turkey in the freezer. Since I can't talk, it wouldn't do any good for Them to take me to Their Thinking People's house. Besides, those people have a cat who goes to the meetings, and she would not appreciate me. I know, because those people have a cat outside like our cousin, Katy, and their cat doesn't like her. It was His question today, and they talked about being spiritual. I could have told them a lot about that. Instead, I stayed home and waited. But I was thinking all the time they were gone. While I was awake, that is. Later, friends.

Musical Cats
Did you know that some guy wrote a bunch of poems about cats? Then a clever other guy set them to music. Those are some of our favorite songs that She plays while She computers. But you wouls be interested to know that She plays all kinds of music. She has lots of little round plates that She puts in a slot in Her computer and we like them all. She has songs fro Her One Horse family and those songs are also poetry set to music. Another friend sings songs from operas, like Her OperaGirl does, and she loves to play those songs. She listens to Her OperaGirl as well, but she doesn't use a plate for that, She just clicks here and there, and the songs come up. Her OG has a very magical voice. One of Her favorite little plates is from Her MusicGuy. He wrote all his own songs and they are spot on. That's what She says, spot on. Another NYGirl is a friend of Her OG, and she has some good songs too. And that girl sings opera sometimes. What a nice thing to have all these different kinds of music for when we are working in here. Of course, Kasey and I like the cat songs best, but there are many days when we have sat in the inbox and listened to music from Her other friends.
This was a good day for listening to music. It was dark and rainy, and She didn't go out, even for the mail. With the music playing and the computer clicking, we were very cozy. I gave Her lots of snuggles and heard about Jellicle Cats. I have to check on dinner now, so areeva-dare-chi.

What is a Date Cats
Today there was a lot of happiness, because They went on a date. I don't know what that means, because they go places with each other all the time. This was that Brunch thing that they talked about last week. I guess they said it was a date because it was to a very fancy place. When they got there, He parked as close as He could. You know how She has trouble walking. The trouble with that was that the space was too small for Her to get out. Kasey and I laughed when we heard about that. So He had toi move to a place a bit farther away, and after that everything was OK. She said the place was very pretty, and they had a table by the window. There were trees and a lake, and it was very restful. She said the coffee was especially good, and She knows Her coffee. The guy said it was Colombian, but She thought he really didn't know. He just was being nice. The food was good, but it was the service that really tickled Her pink. There were people walking around who didn't do anything but fill cups and glasses. You didn't have to signal or ask. She told me the omelets are better at Denny's, but She didn't tell Him that. It was just nice to have them come home, since their date lasted a long time. She said there were some people having brunch out on the terrace, because they brought their dog. When the serving guy brought water to the people, he brought a nice bowl of water to the dog. She loved that. A good date, today.

Brainy Cats
One thing She talks about a lot is brains. She liked it when She was studying brains. First of all, there is left brain and right brain. She says the left brain is about words and the right is about pictures. After you have lived a long time, and talked a lot, and looked at lots of pictures, the two sides connect. But mostly, you are one or the other. She is left-brained, if you have ever heard Her talk and talk and talk, and He is right-brained. He can measure in his head, and draws very good pictures. She admires that. When She used to go to work, the thing was that some brains have a glitch, and then need special teaching to make a bridge across the glitch. She liked doing that. She likes that there is all kind of smart. Some are good at sports, some at music, some at getting along with people. That is why She is mad that every kid has to take the same kind of test to show that they are smart. That is like saying I'm not smart because I can't jump like Kasey. Every cat is his own kind of smart, She says, and so is every kid. If She were in charge, only about half the kids who take paying attention medicine would be taking it. My advice to you is don't get Her started. She will use Her left brain and talk your ears and tail off.
Her grandchildren who are Cleo'sGirls don't like fish. I think that is a really different kind of smart from me. I love fish, and She could fx it every night for dinner. But She doesn't, so I have to wait ad see. Now THAT is smart, Coffs, She says. Ah-dyoo mes amis.

Anniversary Cats
No, it is not the anniversary of Their wedding. That was weeks ago. This is the anniversary of the day She and Smudge'sMom went to a farr off place to see Her beloved Eddie in a very funny show. The went in Smudge's M's car, which is kind of magical. It saves on things that are bad for the world, and besides, it tells you where to turn. Anyway, She and S'M went to a charming place to stay overnight, and there was Her OperaGirl, at the same place! Then, They went to a place close to where Eddie would be, and had the most wonderful, amazing, delightful meeting with the very most fun and friendly Eddie-people. She will never forget that night if She lives another bunch of years. Her OperaGirl made all the arrangements, because she is an excellent planner. The food was good, but She would not have cared if it wasn't, because there was so much love there! They went to the show together and loved every word that Eddie said. Afterward, he visited with the people who saw his show, and talked to Her and took Her hand. He talked to some other people, and afterwards they went together to talk about the show and each other - in a nice way, of course. It was a time that made a lovely memory, and She told us all about it when She came home.
Kasey and I don't like to have her gone away, but She was so happy that we couldn't complain. I think She will celebrate this anniversary with a shrimp dinner. I would like that very much. Toodles.

Wondering Day
It started as soon as She woke up. She started wondering. It is as if She felt like going on a memory trip to wonder about Her friends, Her family, Her life. When She was in school, She studied a thing called Philosophy. Maybe that's why She likes thinking so much. She told me She is a Humanist, and that means that She believes She is one of the Chosen People, except that She chose Herself. Her beloved Eddie says that, and She wondered about that today, too. She says Her Eddie people tend to understand that, and She cherishes that. She wonders about Her church. That church was practically Her whole life, and then it is as if someone pulled a cord and disconnected Her. She wonders why that took the sparkle out of Her a little bit. She still has friends from there, but it is all different now. When She started to get sad, I said let's think of something more fun to wonder about. So we wondered about the brunch on Sunday with Him. She wondered about whether her little TexasGirl got a package She sent, and if Her OperaGirl will get hers pretty soon. She wondered about when She would get more of that most excellent hot chocolate. Maybe She can get Deena'sMom to go someday.
I wondered, too. I wondered about what She is going to fix for dinner. Kasey doesn't wonder about much. That rude sister of mine says that as long as she gets her treats, They can do whatever they want. For me, I wonder if I will always be Her snuggle-bug. I hope so. I hope there is a bit less wondering tomorrow, because it makes me tired. Bye, now.

Admiring Cats
If you could see Her, you would admire the way She looks, with Her hair neatly cut and Her toenails painted a pretty color. Kasey and I like the way She looks, but also how She feels after all this care and attention. Her haircut lady is an old friend. When She first went to this lady for a haircut, the lady had a little girl. Now She has that girl plus two boys, and the girl is finishing her college in a couple of months. So that was nice for Her to visit with this longtime friend. When She went to get Her toes painted, the girl there was very sweet and helpful, so She could get in and out of the tall chair easily. The girl made the chair give Her a massage. She said it was almost as good as the ones I give Her! So it was a nice time, and She is home looking so good we are admiring Her.
Another thing that gave Her a very pleased look is that She found out that Her beloved Mazie is coming to visit. Mazie'sMom is going to take Her and Him out for lunch before she goes to work on her business. You can guess that She is chuffed about that.
So it was a good day for Her. She even had time to go to the post office with a package for one of Her beloved Grandgirls. I won't say anymore about that, because it might spoil a little surprise. (snerk). It's time to check my kibbles and see what They are cooking for tonight. I think it will be a quiet night, after all the beautifying that went on today. Later, Gator.

Wow Cats
This morning He took Her car in to where They bought it. Now that She is old and retired, She doesn't go many palces, and if someplace is far away, She goes with someone else, or goes in a plane. But He says cars need something called maintenance, even if you don't drive them much. That's why He took Her car for Her. He is nice like that. Well, when He came home, He had something to tell Her, and this is where the WOW comes in. Since She has had Her car longer than She has had Kasey and me, they told him it should have more maintenance. Then He showed Her what they said it would cost. Maybe you could hear Her say WOW from wherever you are. She studkied that paper for a long time. He said He agreed with the fixing guys. Fix it before it gets broken, He said. It will cost less money than if We wait. Well, next Christmas everyone will get coal, She says, but I know that was a joke, because giving presents is Her favorite thing. I'll let you know what She and He decide to do, but for right now, we are still in WOW!
She is going to get Her hair cut tomorrow, so maybe She will think clearer with a lighter head. For tonight, I think we will have a regular dinner, because She says She doesn't feel very creative. I am urging Her to have one of those little pies. Vegetables, chicken and gravy. I could help Her with that. I have to go see what She is reading now. Toodle Pip

Character Cats
Today is a special birthday of a really smart guy. He said we should be judged on our characters and not our colors. Well, he is absolutely right. Here is an example. Kasey and I are entirely different. Not just in color, but by the way we act. I am a more snuggly guy, and she is more of a non-snuggly girl. But They love us both the same. He and She don't expect Kasey to be all cuddly. They know how to tell when she is happy and in a playful spirit. They know I will almost always come for pets and hugs. They know she is daring and I am kind of scaredy. But they treat us both nicely. They think People should do that. She is not particularly interested in His mother, but She is polite to her, and helps her when She can. He and She like everyone else alright, and don't care what color you are. So we could all enjoy a nice day today and think nice things about the smart guy. She says LW gets it, and LW is only five.
He is going to a place tonight to learn about talking on TV and radios. He sounds very nice to us, and we think He would have fun doing that. While He is gone, She thought of getting a pizza, but she probably won't. It would mean going out in the cold, and of course - spending money! I'm hoping She stays right here and has something I would like to share. TTFN, guys.

Mixed Signals Cats
We are usually pretty good at knowing what kind of a day it will be. For instance, He and She had such a good time watching a show that Her beloved Eddie gave in the place where Her OperaGirl lives, that we expected They would be very cheery today. Well, yes. Everything was going that way until He said, What's the name of that restaurant? She said What restaurant? He said The one where we are going for brunch today. Wait a minute! She didn't know He was planning on taking Her for brunch today! She was not cleaned up and dressed yet, and it was nearly lunchtime when He said it. Kasey and I didn't have to go and hide or anything, but She was puzzled that He hadn't mentioned it. He thought They had talked about it. Here's the ending: They planned to go for brunch NEXT Sunday. That is a nice celebration of the 1 year anniversary of Her trip with Smudge'sMom to see Her Eddie in a place kind of far away. They met Her OperaGirl there and some other computer people, and had a great time. She looks at the pictures a lot, and smiles. Her ViolinGirl, 2 of Her TexasGirls, Her MonkeyGirl, with her monkey, Her LizardGirl - She talks about them all the time. and it is more special because She shared it with Smudge'sMom. I am glad the brunch plans are fixed. None of us like for Her to be sad.
I am hoping for a little pie tonight, but I can see that She hasn't decided. Oh, yes. I did have some chicken last night. Nom.

Snooze Cats
When She settled down to do Her coomputer-checking, Kasey and I decided to take the day off and snooze. The tasks She was doing did not need our help, and She was quite busy getting signed up so She could see the way Her beloved Eddie looked in a show from last year. Her OperaGirl went to that show, and reminded Her to sign up to see it, which She did, and then computed about it for lots of the day. Of course She stopped for Her lunch, and watched another old program. She has taken quite a liking to the channel that shows old programs that He and She used to watch in the days B.C. (Before Cats). You should see the phones people used on these old shows! And they never checked DNA. I don't know why they appeal to Her. Oh, well. All the better for my naps.
She was telling some of Her friends about the nifty lunch She had with LW'sMom and the alphas. It is a good thing I don't like hot chocolate, or I would have made her drive all that long way just to get me some. As it is, She may just think of a way to go back there before May, When LW'sMom will have a couple of days off. Hmmm. Maybe Smudge'sMom would like to go. They are very good on Road trips together!
Don't know exactly what is for dinner tonight. I think She is leaning toward something Italian. Whatever She fixes will have chicken in it somewhere. I just know that. I'll check, and tell you tomorrow. Wide awake now. Have to go and chase Kasey. Bye.

Don't know exactly what is for dinner tonight. I think She is leaning toward something Italian. Whatever She fixes will have chicken in it somewhere. I just know that. I'll check, and tell you tomorrow. Wide awake now. Have to go and chase Kasey. Bye.

Alpha Cats
Her big adventure today was to go and have lunch with LW and her sisters. She calls them Her Alphas, because each name starts with the letters of the alphabet, all in a row.Of course, LW'sMom was there as well, because the Alphas are just little girls. Their big brother was an a city far away in an arguing contest. She says he will surely win! He is very good at that activity, for a boy his age, but he missed a perfect lunch today. She loved the food, but Her favorite thing was hearing about what each girl was doing and learning at school. You can't believer how much She loves these girls and their brother. One new thing was they had hot chocolate for their dessert, and She says that it tasted like you were drinking a truffle. Can you imagine what good hot chocolate that was? She found out they use real melted chocolate in it instead of cocoa. She will remember that hot chocolate for a long, long time. My hopes are kind of high, because She brought home some of Her sandwich. She knew She wanted room for that dessert. It means there is something for me to have a taste of later. I call that a good time for everyone.
There is a movie coming out with Her beloved Eddie in it, and it is not here where we live. She is very anxious to see it, so we are focusing on hurrying it up. Her OperaGirl will go to see it where she lives and tell Her all about it.
She loves all Her grandchildren, near and far away, big and little. And She loves Her cats. (snerk)

Reading Cats
When She gets ready to read, She gets all comfy in Her favorite chair and picks one of the books stacked up on the table next to her. She used to read very fast, and read a lot. Now, Her eyes are bothering Her, and She can't read as well. It really makes her grumpy, sometimes. Cleo'sMom lent Her a book that is like a TV show they all watch, and She wants to finish it so She can pass it to Smudge'sMom in a good amount of time, but the reading is still slow. The big book that He gave Her about The Earth is full of pictures and the writing is in little paragraphs. She has lots of fun with that book. She says it is like dessert after a meal of reading regular books.
You know She likes to give presents? Well She has something for some people, and will send them out. Her OperaGirl told Her that you didn't need Christmas for an excuse to give presents, and She said Brilliant! I just hope She finds good sales, because She is very particular about money, and would not like to run out!
Of course, I help Her when She is reading, and Kasey helps Him. We are very encouraging, and if Her eyes get tired, I give Her a snuggle and a massage until She can be ready to read some more. Then I wait for dinner, and She shows Her appreciation by giving me a little taste. It is why I like it better when She stays home at dinner time. She is kind of quiet now. I had better go and check on Her. Chow.

Special Cats
Today was a very special day. She had lunch with Her beloved Crones, and that always makes Her especially happy. How lovely it is to share a lunch with Wise, wonderful women. I don't see why it is so much better than wise, wonderful cats, but She says it IS different, in a more human kind of way. The place where they meet for their lunch is not far from Their house. They picked it because it has a great assortment of different things to eat. You can't say they don't have anything you like, because they have about a million things to choose. The other thing the Crones like is that it is all one price. She says you pay your bill on the way in, and after that, it is like everything is free. When you are ready for dessert, you can get free coffee, too. So She says it is a great time, meeting with friends, there is every kind of food, free coffee-the-drink, and it is all a bargain. You couldn't ask for more than that. She is feeling very chuffed about today.
She is worried about Him, though. He has a scratched place on His head, and He has to go to see a doc next week to find out what it is and why doesn't it heal. The sickness that makes Him eat only vegetables can make a lot of other things go wrong. He has already had three toes cut off.. I don't know what they will do about His head. One thing for sure, they won't cut it off. At least they better not, or She will have a fit.
I don't know what is for dinner. When She has a lunch with Her Crones, She is usually too full to fix a big dinner. I happen to know She has some left-over chicken. That would work for me. buh-bye.

Retired Cats
I guess you know She is retired, so Kasey and I are retired, too. Do you wonder what it is like to be retired? I have heard Her talking about it, so I have a very good idea about what it is like. First of all, most days She sleeps until She feels like gettg up. She doesn't even set the alarm clock, She says She had enough of going to bed before the news was over, so She stays up as late as She likes. Usually, She has a lovely cat (ahem) in Her lap, or on Her shoulder. Every so often, She has to get up for a nice adventure or a pesky doc. appointment. If She has to get up early, it is for something She likes to do. Brunch or thinking people or meeting some friends. When She finally gets up, She and I have breakfast. She always has coffee-the-drink. It is Her favorite stuff. For years She had a bagel every day, until one day She stopped. It was a chewing thing, I think. Now She has toasted bread with black spots or blue spots, and She puts lots of butter on it, so we can share it. She gets very tasty butter. While we eat our breakfast, She reads the paper. After that, she does at least one task, then checks Her e-mails. I help Her with that, of course, and get my brushing and lie on Her keyboard. The guy never brought the one with the new letters, so it is still the comfy old one. A favorite thing to do is talk to Her virtual family and friends. She loves to do that. It is how a retired person starts the day. There are some things about being retired that aren't so delightful as the ones I told you today. Maybe we can talk about that some other time, OK? Watch NCIS, She says. Have a nice night.

Napping Cats
We are not used to dreary weather here, and Kasey and I have been getting lots of nap-time in. She has a fuzzy, pink robe that She got last year from Cleo'sPeople for Christmas. It is very cat-friendly when She is sitting in Her big chair. It practically calls out for me to snuggle on it. Kasey has examined it, but would never ever ever get up on Her to snuggle on it. Kasey likes it when She lays it on the bed when She gets dressed, and has been caught giving it a massage. I think it reminds Kasey of her blue blanket.
He and She have been enjoying the barbecue stuff that Katy'sMom brought over. He has been eating the beans and cole slaw, but She eats the meat as well. There was so much meat that She fixed it in packages and put it in the freezer. That was a really great gift. I have had little bites of that meat, and I can see why She loves it. She would not be able to do what He has done, that is, become a person who just eats vegetables.
She is also reading about that far-away country where Deena'sMom went. She says that about the time She came here to Texas, it was a plain old desert, and now it is like a magical world of lovely buildings, gorgeous worship places, and big fancy malls. In the pictures She has seen, She says it is like another world, like in a sci-fi movie. I still wish her family would come back here. That is selfish, She says, but She wishes for that, too. I'm ready for another nap now. TTYL

Thunder Cats
There was such a lot of thunder last night that I had to go and hide. I was so sorry to leave Her alone, but a cat cannot be too careful. When the thunder stopped, I made it up to Her by giving Her a thorough massage, although I think She slept through it. When we woke up it was cold and rainy. A good day to stay inside and be cozy. He needed an umbrella to go and feed the birds and get the paper. She thught it would be polite not to get in His way, so She remained in bed until everything was inside. The birds actually ate their breakfast in the rain. That is a sign of something, She says, but I don't know what.
It did stop raining long enough for Him to go and give His mother her birthday presents. She had no idea that it was her birthday, but at least He felt better about it.
There is a lot of bad stuff in the news about people getting hurt and killed over what they believe about government. He and She are devastated by this, since They believe very much in people being nice to each other. Suppose you don't agree with someone. You can agree to disagree and move on to other topics, or you can avoid the person entirely. Even when you do see each other, you can be nice. She calls it civil discourse. I just think it means don't shoot people who make you mad. Even though He has a medal for being a sharpshooter, He would never shoot anybody.
Good supper tonight. The lovely food that Katy'sPeople brought. I'll enjoy a bit of that, too. sy-o-narra.

Cats in Danger
Oh, you are lucky you weren't here earlier. You see, Her computer wouldn't work, and She was very patient about it for a long time, but finally She got very mad at Her computer, and Kasey and I ran and hid. She scolds Him when He loses His patience with His computer, so it was kind of a surprise when she got so mad. Even if She just yelled a little, you could see She was flummoxed, and kept trying the same thing, even though it didn't work. He finally diid something with His computer, and guess what! Her computer started to work. She only huffed a little bit, but we stayed in the closet until the coast was clear.
Luckily for everyone, She was nice and calm when Katy'sMom and Katy'sGirl came over with a wonderful surprise. They brought Them a big pan of barbecue, along with corn and beans, muffins and cole slaw. There was another big pan, and it had all kinds of cobblers in it. He and She were ready to cry over the huge supply of good things. It worked out that She had some pretty jewelry for Katy'sGirl that didn't get here in time for Christmas presents. She thinks they are nice people, even before they got all those good things to eat.
It is supposed to be bad weather tomorrow, which is His mother's birthday. Lancienne will be 94, which is a long time to be around. He got His mother a new sweater. She saw it and said, OK.
There will be good food to eat for a long time. I think the danger is over for today. Nitey nite.

Singing Cats
We are singing today because we are so happy. Yes, She was singing this morning as well, all because of Her lunch with Deena'sMom. There is this place they like to go, and the lunch is not as important as the visit - but the lunch is good, too. In fact, the lunch was so good that She didn't bring any home. That almost never happens. D'sM brought some candy for Her and Him, and it has dates in it. She isvery happy with it, but Kasey and I don't care for candy. It is just nice to see Her so excited. Another gift D'sM brought Her was a very pretty little lace thing She called a doily. It is very special, because it is to help women get paid for their hard work. Deena'sGirl got it in another country - also very far away. She is so happy to have it, but it won't be where cats can bother it. She will make sure of that. She says She is going to save the candy. I'll let you know how that works out.
When She got home, there were some more packages full of presents. Why wait until next Christmas, She said. I think I'll just give them now. Or at least pretty soon. They are Eddie-themed presents. Practically every thing is Eddie-themed around here. One of Her friends even sent Her an Eddie-story in a message.
She says things are back in order now that Deena'sMom is home, but She cannot stop telling us all how darling the grandchildren are. She is very partial to grandchildren - of all ages. There are some more things in the bag She brought home from Her lunch. Not food, but I'll check on what it is and report later. Oh-reevwar.

Waiting Cats
We had a good day today, but most of it was spent waiting. We are waiting for two big things. The first one is today, when the computer guy comes and gets Her a new keyboard. I am kind of anxious for that, as well, because sometimes I hit the wrong letters, since the pictures are worn off the keys. Luckily, my memory is better than Hers, so I only make mistakes when I am in a big hurry, or very tired. So the guy is bringing a new one and we are chuffed.
The second thing, and maybe most important, is that She will have Her lunch with Deena'sMom, who is back from her trip way across the world to where D'M's daughter lives with her family. If there is anything She understands, it is how much it makes your heart smile to see your grandkids, and that is what D'sM was doing across the world. This is a favorite friend of ours, so She would be happy to see her anyway, but it will be even more special tomorrow. And maybe She will bring something home for her dear cats (ahem).
He went to see His mother today, and reports that she is just fine. What She said is that woman is made out of teflon. I don't know what that means. Do you?
So dinner may have to wait, since the computer guy is coming at dinnertime. Well, we are not badgers, so we can't be choosers. My story tomorrow will be on the new keyboard. See if you can tell. Bye.

Progress Cats
We still have lots of dust, but there is some serious improvement with the clutter. Of course, a lot of help came from getting those presents out of the way. Presents were pretty much running things here in Her office, but even though She has some future presents on hand, Kasey and I have helped Her manage them so that Her desk is mostly clear and we will try to stop Her from getting new presents, especially ones that won't fit in the closet.
While we were working on that, the place where His mother lives called and said l'ancienne was having a fever, and they were trying to bring it down. If not she would have to go to the hospital. So far, she is still at the place where she lives, and she was asleep when He went to check on her.All She said was hmmmm.
There was a letter in the mail from LW'sFamily, and it showed the picture of the ones with shaved heads. Remember when they did that to get money for cancer studies? It was very cute, and He and She both liked the picture and the story.
Here is some good news for me. She is making a dinner tonight with shrimp in it, and I will surely get to taste it. That is because Kasey and I were such big helps today. Did you know Her desk is made of wood? I had almost forgotten. (snerk)

Clear Conscience Cats
Here is how it went today. We all got up pretty early - for Her, and had our breakfast. He was still kind of sleepy and put Her coffee in the wrong cup. She was nice about it, because He did pour Her coffee, but She had to go and pour it into Her Eddie-cup When He was in the other room. Now everything was right for the day.We took care of some regular stuff and talked to our computer friends. I had my brushing, and She decided to read out of the two books She got for Christmas. One was a real history book, and one was a fake history book. She likes them both. Now, She doesn't sleep in the day like He does, but She still doesn't feel comfortable just reading a book in the middle of the day. She had to remind Herself about all the days when She went to work, but She still thought it was kind of lazy. She put on a TV show that was very old, and She watched that while She ate Her lunch. She sharpened all Her pencils, and finally settled down with Her book. Even then, She only read for a little while, and did a few more things She had been putting off til the New Year. I am kind of sad that She cannot feel like a regular retired person when it is a good day for reading. Oh, well. I'll help Her work on it.
Meanwhile Kasey is running all around like a goofy cat and making Her laugh. In a few minuts, Kasey will go to Her and beg for a treat. Beg? Not Kasey. My sister will demand a treat - and she will get one. My treat will be a snuggle a bit later. TaTa for now.

Back-to-Normal Cats
It is official. This holiday season is over, at least for awhile. Between the presents and the birthdays and all the good food, He and She are ready for things to calm down and get ordinary. She says things are never ordinary around here, but She is willing to give it a try. For example, about six catalogs came in the mail, and She did not look at even one of them. I'm all bought out, She says. All celebrated out. Ready to look for news of Her beloved Eddie, and be satisfied. She started being normal by going to the store for regular shopping. Oh, sure - She looked at the stuff that was half-off, but She didn't buy any of it. She did forget to get cookies, but they are not as important as stuff They can enjoy together. Sometimes She forgets that She doesn't have much need for Grandkids-food. How did they all get so big? She asks Him. He just shakes His head. She said She saved $35 with coupons today. Maybe She'll go on that show where they get lots of groceries for just a little money.
He has a new project now. A new year - a new project. And He is working with a very nice man who has lots of good ideas. She is chuffed that He has a project. He doesn't know how to sit and do nothing, like we do. Anyway, She has all Her computer friends. That's Her project. Keeping up with all these dear friends and virtual grandchildren keeps Her lively. Nothing cat-friendly for our dinner tonight, but I may sample some of the tomato sauce, just to see why She loves it. Bye for now.

A Date for Him and Her
Kasey and I can't understand how people who have been married for lots and lots of years think they should go on a date, but that is just what He and She did. He asked Her last night, and She agreed to go to the movies with Him. There is a movie that everyone is talking about, and He knew She would love it, because it is about a guy with a speech problem. That is part of what She used to do when She went to work. Actually, it was more language than speech, but the two are related. At least that's what She says. When She heard this guy had trouble talking, She told Him that the guy was probably made to use the wrong hand. HA. She was right. Every once in awhile, She misses Her old work, so He took Her on this date. When They came home, He said She was crying at the end, because She was so happy how it worked out. She thinks these guys should get a prize.
She couldn't wait to tell Her StefferGirl how much She liked it, because that friend really likes the guy in the movie. So it was a happy day. She also heard good things about Her other friends. She loves a day like this. One problem is that She saw on the computer that Katy'sGirl is moving. That must be a mistake, because She didn't hear it from Katy'sMom. What would we do without Katy's family? Kasey and I hope it's a mistake because we love our cousin Katy.
Checking on dinner now. Have a good night. TTYL

New Years Cats
Greetings to the first day of the New Year. There were fireworks going off around here all night, and Kasey and I were very nervous. Luckily, it has rained a lot around here, so there were no fires, but we were shaking and upset, so They had to snuggle us while they stayed up very late. We woke up to a cheerful day, which does not seem like Saturday at all. We had to wish a Happy New Year to everyone we ever knew, so that took up part of the day. She told us to make resolutions, which is a kind of promise for making things better in this year. Kasey doesn't intend to change a single thing, but I will try not to be so scared of everything. She said She would start every day by thinking of something She is glad about that day. That is an easy one for Her, because She is glad about me every day, and about Him every day. She says that She is glad every day that we have enough. By the time She is glad about all Her family and friends, it will be time for lunch! I had to laugh right out loud at Her next promise. She promised to be more careful about money. She is already so fussy about money that I'm surprised that She ever buys anything! Well, it is Her promise. Kasey and I don't have any money, so She can't fuss at us about it. But poor Him. If He didn't get free tickets for the movie, They would not be going on a date tomorrow to see something They both want to see.
Mmmm. Salmon for dinner. It is a special dinner for the first day of the year. Lucky us!! Chow, bellas.
