Wary Cats

Things are pretty much the same for Kasey and me today. She is convinced that we are not dying, and She expects to have an answer tomorrow. She is a bit more concerned about my itchy face than about my turning down the daily butter. I don't know the answer. My face is itchy. So is Kasey's. She thinks that is enough to make us confused. When She brushed me today, I spent about ten minutes rubbing the brush with my face, and She just let me do that. It is funny how everything goes along a particular way for a long long time, and suddenly, things are different. I wonder if humans have that happen in their lives, too. I tend to think they do, like when He spends all the money and She goes from being nice and calm to being nervous and grumpy. I spent most of yesterday in Her in-box, and I snoozed in there again today, after I finally got out of the bathtub. Since it sounds to me like They are finishing left-overs for their Sunday dinner, I may need to get up and go investigate that. This will be a good TV night, too. He and She like those mysteries that have people that sound funny, like Her beloved Eddie. I am looking forward to getting better after She talks to the vet tomorrow. I guess that is all for now, though. I need to get back in the in-box. Chow, bellas.

Confused Cats

Things are getting a little scary for me right now. And for Kasey, too. It worries Her and I have to admit, it worries me, as well. The thing is, I have been getting quite confused, and have gotten my routines mixed up. I get into the bathtub for a drink of water, and then I forget how to get out. I forget where I usually sleep, and flop down on strange places. I do notice that Kasey is doing the same thing sometimes. He and She are wondering if it is something in the air. But today I forgot to get my butter, and that made her very anxious. Something is wrong with my boy, She said to Him. I don't remember how old we are, but there is a sickness that humans get when they get old, and it makes them forget things. I wonder if cats get that, too. I still remember how good it feels to snuggle with Her, and I do a lot of that. I still know where my food is, and my litter box. Sometimes, though, I look around and don't know where I should go next. I am fine with writing my stories, so far. I heard Them whispering about a trip to the vet, and I wouldn't like that at all. I am scared just thinking about it. With all the money that He has spent on His project, it is lucky for me they don't have extra money for the vet. Please, my dear readers - if you know anything about this cat confusion, please let me know so I can explain to Her. I am sad when She is worried about me, and She and I do NOT like to be sad. One thing that is the very same about Kasey is that she doesn't care very much. I will go find Her now, and have a little nap on Her tummy. Bye.

Celebration Cats

Today is the birthday of LW'sSister - the one who is the oldest girl. That is exciting, because this family has a whole string of birthdays over 55 days. the first one is LW'sBrother. LW has only one brother and he is smart and handsome. Next birthday is 20 days later. That is the birthday of LW herself. She is the youngest of the three sisters, and she has had the most problems in her little life, but she is all better now. After awhile it is the birthday of LW'sMiddleSister. She is smart and pretty and funny. A few days after that, LW'sMomandDad have their birthdays. It is strange to me that their birthdays are on the same day. He and She have birthdays awhile apart, and that way they get to have two parties. Then we come to today. The oldest sister has her special day. Even though these days are not far apart, each one is celebrated in a special way. Each birthday kid gets a special treat when he or she wakes up. then, when it is time for dinner, each one gets a special cake. Luckily LW'sMom is a good cook. This is a very precious family to Him and Her, and They celebrate in their hearts with these birthday people. He and She sent them presents in one box. That way, the first kid gets to see what everyone gets, and he hands out the presents when it is time for each birthday. We like birthdays. Kasey and I have a birthday when it is time to eat turkey. We get extra treats and butter. Everyone at our house wishes a Happy Birthday to everyone at LW'sHouse. I believe we are going to celebrate with a special dinner tonight. I saw what She took out of the freezer. Poodle Tip everyone. (Get it?)

Practical Cats

Once there was a guy who wrote lots of stuff about practical cats, and they made a play about it. She has the CD, and She plays it all the time. Well, Kasey and I are as interesting as those cats, and I'll tell you why. We are clever cats with some really good habits, and we are always dependable. It makes perfect sense to me that She should wake up when I am ready for some butter. I often exchange my interruption of Her sleep with a lovely massage and a few snuggles, to get Her day started off just fine. Kasey can be depended upon to help Him with His computer works by helping Him sort His papers and giving Him some friendly rubs and snuggles. If you know anything about Kasey, you realize that this is not an easy job for her, but she is dedicated. When She gets settled in Her big chair, I make it my business to go and find a cozy place on Her tummy or chest and settle down to keep Her calm. A lot of times She thinks I am sleeping, but never fear. I am on the job. Just to make it especially nice for Her, I usually purr. Last week He and She got the pillows I told you about, and it doesn't matter what They tell Kasey, that little kitty realizes the pillow is payment for her loyal care and devotion. All Kasey has to do is to see that pillow - or one just like it - and she is ready for a nap. I got on it once, and it was a bit too soft for my liking, but then, I am a tough, furry cat and have a lot of padding on my own. If anyone wants to write about Kasey and me, it would make a delightful play, and we would be very good in it. She is making some strange pasta for our dinner from a recipe She got from Her computer friends. I am looking forward to it. It looks very pretty in the picture. Chow, bellas.

News Cats

Everyone around here is all excited about the news on TV. From all I can tell, Some very bad things and some very good things have gone on in politics. Both things have Her in a tizzy. I guess some lady here in our state of Texas decided to talk all day and all night so that the guys could not vote in time to make a vote on a law that She is very against. She and all Her friends were cheering for this lady to last all those hours and follow all the silly rules. She could not sit down or even lean against the table. The lady could not eat or go to the litter box and she had to keep talking. Just before time was up, the guys wanted to vote for the bad law, but so many people made a lot of noise so that they couldn't vote. She was very happy. The other law was in the whole country. It was about who could get married and have a family. She says She doesn't understand why people are so set against it. A family could be two ladies or two men instead of one of each, and She doesn't see why it is anybody's business but the people in the family. There was a law that said they couldn't do this, and last night they decided to make it OK in this certain place, and maybe the whole big country some day. Of course Kasey and I don't care about any of these laws. Our family is made by whoever brings us home from Esspeeceeay and treats us like their family. We are fine with that. She wanted to forget about all that, so She went and had some lunch with Cleo'sMom. It made Her happy to hear about all their trip very far away to see some family guys get married. This was one guy and one lady, and it sounded very nice. It took away all of Her sadness. To keep that happiness going, She will visit with Smudge'sMom tonight, so no extra dinner for us. Luckily, we have plenty of kibbles. I was so glad She felt happier that I got on Her belly and watched two TV shows with Her. Tune in tomorrow. Goodbye.

Sleeping Cats

Kasey and I have heard a lot about other people's cats, and we have even seen pictures of cat beds on Her computer and in catalogs. Both of us are puzzled, because we would find it very tiresome to have only one place to sleep. It is clear to Her that other cats always sleep in the same place. You may remember that Kasey really like things that are soft and snuggly, like her blue blanket. See the picture at the bottom of the page. For Kasey, a soft place fits her idea of her importance, and her royal roots. One day She got a package with two soft pillows in it. She needs a pillow to give Her a little help in standing up from Her chairs, since She is short and has trouble standing up after She has been sitting. Before She could place the second pillow on Her desk chair, Kasey had found it and curled up on it, and does most of her sleeping on that pillow. She doesn't dare to take it away from Kasey. As for me, I don't mind the floor. It may be hard, but I have a lot of soft fur, and it makes the whole house my bedroom. He and She recently put down a kind of a mat with a little scent of catnip right by Her chair. I like to sleep there lately, because it is close to Her and my food dish. I do a lot of sleeping on the dining room table, which is not soft and snuggly. She told me not to dwell on that, because a lot of people don't like to think of a cat on a table. Please respect Her wishes and forget I told you about that. In the afternoon, I stretch out in my sun spot when the sun comes in the window. My favorite place to sleep in the whole world is a soft, snuggly place. It is on Her, when we watch TV or a movie. I have slept on Her for hours, and She doesn't mind. It is part of why I am happy to be a sleeping cat in our house. I am safe and comfortable and never far from food and water and snuggles. I believe those are the three things required for life. I think I will go and bother Kasey now. Toodle Pip.

Psychological Cats

These days, She is very excited fixing up things that are wrong with teaching children. I guess the place where we live isn't very wise about teaching, according to Her. There should only be a few kids for every teacher, and the teachers need to learn all the tricks of the teaching business. She says teachers should not hit kids, and not make them feel dumb. She doesn't hit us, or even yell. It isn't smart to yell at kids, She says, because they will know what gets you upset, and use that power over you. Besides, if kids live in a house with someone like Him, they will realize that yelling shows you are losing control. Teachers never want to lose control. Her Grandma used to say I can't talk about this now. just sit quietly and we will talk about it when I don't feel so sad.It worked on Her. She didn't want Her Grandma to feel sad. There are a bunch of rules She learned about how to use your wits to help a kid learn better. You had to know what makes them learn best. And rewards were better than punishment. When She had kids that were always late to sit down and be ready to learn, She gave rewards to the ones that were on time, and pretty soon, everyone was on time. I see how that works. Smudge'sMom thinks She should write a book about this. She might do that one of these days. It is OK with me, as long as it doesn't keep Her from playing with Her beloved cats. I don't know why people say that cat training is hard. Kasey and I had them trained in about two days. What She is fixing for our dinner is meat with plenty of gravy. My third favorite, after fish and chicken. Don't worry. I won't make Her feel bad about it. I know my teaching rules. TaTaa for now.

Quiet Day Cats

Compared to yesterday, this was a perfectly quiet day. He and She didn't go anyplace and all our usual things that were on the to-do list got done. For example, Their most handsome cat (ahem) got a splendid brushing, and She said She got enough fur to make two cats. Please understand - She is joking when She says that. She says it almost every time I get brushed and She always thinks it is funny, even though I do not. He and She made sure Kasey and I had enough to eat and a clean litter box. She had lunch of bacon and cookies. Bacon makes excellent stuff to lick off a plate. She worked on Her puzzle for awhile then She ordered some stuff from Her computer. She says it was not exactly in Her budget, but She had to order before tomorrow to get free postage. Do you see how particular She is? Now Her money is mostly gone for the next few days, so if He or She has an emergency, well - unless it is something for Their cats, They are through spending money for one week. If She goes to see Her Crones on next Wednesday - don't worry, because She has separate money set aside for that. So It has been a very pleasant day, and it should be a good evening, because the mailperson is supposed to bring a movie for Them to watch. That will be good lap-time. Since we had fish yesterday, and She likes to have different stuff every day, my advice is to expect chicken. That is the next-best thing. Good bye and good luck.

Bargain Cats

Nobody in the whole world likes a bargain as much as She does, so when the special place where She gets some of our very nice dinners has a sale, She is very eager to check it out. The thing is, She couldn't order it from home, She had to go to their store, which is kind of far away- but not too far to drive to. The sale was for three days, so She told Him She wanted to go. He was very busy, but He would take Her on Sunday. She says that won't work, because they will be out of all the good stuff by Sunday. The prices were so low that She was sure of it. He couldn't schedule it for today or tomorrow, so She got Her courage up and went to that store all by Herself. She gave it a lot of thought, because She almost never goes out, and if She does, it is rare that She goes by Herself. When it comes to feeling OK and saving a lot of money - well, if you know Her, you understand. She got ready and drove to the store. The people there were very nice, and helped Her find everything She wanted. She got three big bags full of our favorite food, plus some free stuff. A nice girl helped Her carry all of that stuff to the car, and She came back home. Of course, She had to put all that stuff in the freezer, because it was frozen meat and vegetables, plus some cute little tarts with fruit inside. They love those. He was proud of Her, but She was feeling kind of worn out by then and fixed Herself a sandwich for Her lunch. She and I sat down with the sandwich, and both of us fell fast asleep. It was no a surprise about me, but SHE never sleeps in the daytime.Getting bargains can wear out a person, I guess. She woke up in time for Her questions show. Do you know what's funny? She is not fixing anything from the new bargains for our dinner. She has already defrosted some pink fish. Personally, I'm tickled pink about that. She is nice and rested up from Her adventure, but She wouldn't want to do that every day. O-re-vwar, mes amis.

Fierce Cats

Mostly, Kasey and I are sweet cats who don't make much trouble. Every so often, though, we become playful and act all fierce. This morning, She was reading Her paper, and I decided to attack. I attacked the paper, and took a bite, but all She did was laugh. Then I went after Her fingers. HA. Not so funny now, Missy. We played this paper-and-fingers game for a long time, until I got tired and had to go lie down. She liked this game, because it was a new side of me. She said what was in that butter today, Cofs? Later on we heard him at his desk saying Hey. stop it. We went to check and found Kasey trying to chew on his pencil while He was writing. Maybe it is because it was almost summer and our brains are active. I am guessing we will be back to our sweet normal selves tomorrow, but I will keep you in the loop. She is not so sure what to have for our dinner today. She still has leftover pizza roll to use up, and we all like that. She was treated to one of those half-price milk shakes they talk about on TV, so She may not be too hungry. Whatever it is, it will be better than just plain kibbles. At least She didn't read all the crazy things that are happening in the government topics. She may have learned Her lesson. But I doubt it. Toodles.

Chuckling Cats

She was reading things on Her computer, and I was looking over Her shoulder. She would smile or laugh - but then She saw two different things that made Her actually make a snort. Both things were about guys in the government who want to make laws about babies. One is, if you are going to have a baby, you need to have it, even if you can't take care of it or it would make you sick. If humans can fix cats, why shouldn't they decide not to have a baby that will live a hard life, or maybe be sick. They admit that unwanted kittens are a sad thing. Well, there is a guy who said he saw pictures of babies inside their moms, and they were masturbating. He says if they can feel pleasure, then you shouldn't safely get rid of them. It would hurt them. I thought She was going to fall off Her chair. She was halfway between laughing and howling. She said now I've seen everything. I don't think I can be more shocked. Then she read down a little farther, and there was a guy who said they looked inside of women who took some pills so they wouldn't have unwanted babies, and their insides were full of tiny little dead babies. She had to shut off the computer then, and go away from it. Luckily, She turned it on to find out some information, so now I can write my story about how strange these guys are who work for Her government. She is going to look again tomorrow, in hopes that this is a big hoax, but I don't think it is. I have seen those things before, and didn't quite understand them. We have already had our dinner. It was lovely, with meat and noodles and red sauce. I love all those things. Since She lost Her appetite over the things She read, I had plenty to lick from Her plate. Talk to you later.

Puzzled Cats

Part of my day is spent in trying to figure out how Humans manage to survive with all their strange ways.I know that some cats go in and out of their houses, but we don't have to. We are fine with staying in. It is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It is safer, and there aren't many bugs inside. Humans, on the other paw, go in and out and travel somewhere almost every day. Instead of having someone bring them their dinners, they have to go to a place called store. I think He goes to this store every day. Meanwhile, She hardly ever goes out and everyone thinks that is very odd. I think it is very wise of Her to stay here with Her beloved cats and to buy everything through the mail. I kind of remember when She used to go out, but She would fall down a lot, and She isn't too sure of how her old bones will act if She keeps falling down. So She mostly stays in. I think it is a smart choice. I also wonder how humans can deal with banks. That is what They call the places where They keep Their money. I am trying to figure this puzzle out now. He has money in a bank. He has a card so He can pay for things with His money. The bank calls Him and says He owes them money, but He hasn't spent any. He, She and I are very puzzled about this. Here's what I understand. It cost some money automatically and every month the bank adds some more. I think that is what they call bank robbery, but He and She are working on putting a stop to it. It makes Him all tired out, and I can see why. I think everyone should relax for today, and fix some nice fish for our dinner. I'll go coax Her to do that. Cheers.

Texas Cats

I found out that the name of the place where we all live is named Texas. That's the name of the enormous place, not just our house. The way I see it, the main place we live is our house, but it is on a street in a location inside a big city that is in an enormous place called Texas. I learn so many things by reading over Her shoulder and listening to conversations. It seems that not every place is as hot as Texas. In fact Texas is so big that some of it gets even hotter. Since we just stay in the house, all we know is that everyone talks about how hot it is, and I am glad I don't have to go out in it. The animals that live in Texas are a strange bunch. There are cats even bigger than me, and animals that look like leather, that roll up when they get scared or hurt. You know that there are squirrels here, because Kasey and I watch them to be sure they don't get inside. There is a kind of animal called a rattlesnake that lives here, too. It has things on the end of its tail that rattle when they shake their tails. I guess it is to scare something that wants to eat them. She says humans are lucky to hear that rattle. It warns them that there is a scared snake ready to bite them. If that snakes bites you, it causes lots of trouble for you. And don't get me started on birds. There are so many birds in this place that even a few of them eat up all the seeds He puts out every day. Besides the animals that are just wild, this place is famous for its horses and cows. Most of them stay inside fences, but some run loose. There is a kind of cow with long horns. They call it a longhorn cow. Not too clever, if you ask me. I would not like to run into the animals all over Texas, but mostly I would not want to see the alligators that live in the water. They could eat a cat in one bite. Sometimes you look around and find out you are in exactly the right place. All the outside Texas animals are welcome to the hot weather. Kasey and I are happy right in our little, tiny part of Texas. Oddy-ose, amigos.

Fathers Day Cats

There is something we all have in common here at our house. That is that none of us had a long time with our fathers. I don't know for sure who my father is, but he must be a magnificent cat. The same is probably true of Kasey, since cat-dads are not known to stay around very long. He had the longest time with His father, who loved Him a lot, but then he died. The next guy was a very pew father, but He remembered the good things His father taught Him and turned out to be nice. She didn't have anything to do with Her father, and just remembers seeing him a few times. This all means that Fathers Day is not a special day to us, like the others. She told me that they have found a substitute family so He can be a father. He and She are Mother and Father to Cleo'sFamily. They love those people. She gets a lot of joy out of being a Grandmother to so many people, but She is only a kind of Mom to Cleo'sMom and Dad. The main person who benefits is Him, because He has not known what being a father is like. What He forgets is that He is Dad to Kasey and me. When we came here to be their family, He has taken care of us, fed us, petted us, played with us, gave us water -even turning on the faucet in the bathtub so we can play in the water. We are glad that He is our Person-Dad, because Kasey and I know we can trust Him. He might yell, but He would never hurt us. I don't care that He like Kasey more than me, because She makes up for it, but He would protect me just as much as Kasey. So for one of the humans' special days, we are happy for this one, because He was appreciated. And even if I didn't get to share Her dinner, we did get treats when They came home from Cleo's House. We love our Dad.

Doomed Cats

Yes, we are all doomed. That is what She explained to us today. To start with, He and She eat meat. Personally, I think that is normal, because that's what Kasey and I like to eat, as well. People tell her that it is cruel to eat meat, because the poor animals have to suffer. We don't agree with that, since it has been going on for about a gazillion years, so how bad can it be? He and She don't care if you don't want to eat it, though. Then it comes out that sugar is poison. Well, I wouldn't know, because I am a cat, and cats can't taste sweet, which is what you get from sugar. And He is not supposed to eat sugary things, but She loves sweet stuff. Fruits and vegetables cause trouble unless they grow without chemicals or bug spray. She has been eating vegetables for all Her life, and just washes them. Now they are doing something science-y to vegetables, and She doesn't like that. It just makes growers rich. The same goes for fruit. If it has bug spray it might kill you, so She washes it. So there is not much left to eat, I guess. On top of that, there is stuff in the air that hurts your breathing, and it also causes the whole world to get warmer, so we may all drown when all the ice melts. If you believe all that stuff, it doesn't leave much to eat, much to breathe or much to save from floods and fires. Now She read that cell phones are so powerful that they can make you sick if you stay too close to them. After hearing all those troubles, Kasey and I were shaking and scared. Well, I was. Kasey didn't much care. But then She said we still are alive today, so we should eat what we want, try to get everyone to pay attention to what we need, and make each other feel good. Let's not worry about what people say, but do our very best to keep things going smoothly. Nobody lives forever, Cofs, She told me. Let's make things nice for each other while we are here. Let's have some nice pizza roll for our dinner, and try to make it a nice evening. I had to give Her some extra snuggles after that. I hope you are all alive for a long time. Chow.

Adhesive Cats

Ever since I Gently woke Her with a nice massage this morning, I have been sticking right to Her. It just happens some days that I feel very loving, and I know She can always use a charming, handsome cat around. This was one of those days. She probably wonders where I am right now. After my butter, I got up on the table and lay on Her paper. She read around me ant then we went to Her morning routine of greeting all Her computer friends. We did have a small issue with Her keeping me snuggled up while She tried to use Her keyboard, but every so often I let Her rest Her fingers and got on the keyboard so She could use that fake mouse. I don't know why they call it a mouse. It doesn't look, move or smell like a mouse, but there are some things about humans that I just don't get. Since I left so much hair on Her keyboard She decided to brush me., I always like that. Then She got a phone call and seemed to forget me, so I had to give Her a little nip to remind Her what She should be doing. I forgot that She hates that biting stuff, so She got mad and pushed me away. I got into Her in-box and had a little nap, just about a yardstick away from Her.We had lunch, and She could eat just fine with me lying on Her arm. Back at the computer, I stayed off the keyboard and lay on the table, snuggling on Her chest. When I knew it was time for Her questions show, I let Her go so I could write my story, but I will be back on snuggle-duty for a while longer after that. She is having a nice dinner with the red sauce on some meat named eggplant. I don't see any egg, but they both love that dinner so much, and I will love the sauce. I am so very happy to have Her here at home with me. Buh-bye.

On the Edge Cats

Kasey and I have stolen a pencil and paper and are trying to make a list of important things to buy. Kibbles - check. Litter - check. catnip - check. Toys with feathers - check. That is about the basic expense of having two adorable cats. We are kind of anxious about this, because She says we are right on the edge right now. Either His flag project gets moving, or it will go down the tubes. I'm not sure exactly where that is, but from the way She says it, it means big trouble. Maybe because She was a Depression Baby, like I told you before, but She is very particular about money. Maybe because He was born a bit later, He isn't so fussy. I Tried to find out what She means about tubes, and this is what I have figured out so far. Start with his two ideas. One was about airplane models, and He bought a gazillion things for that project. The other was about flags. He bought quite a bunch of things, nearly cut off His thumb, and decided to change to one project - the flags. It so happened that He came across a nice guy who could help Him with that flag one, and He started going in the right direction. He got His flags finished and ready to sell. He really doesn't know how to sell stuff, so now He has all this ready to go, and if He doesn't sell His flags pretty soon, well, that's where the tubes come in. She says it mean He ran out of money. Here's a secret. She knows how He is about money, so She just did the usual grumping while He spent all of Their money. Meanwhile, She put aside two bits of money since She retired. One secret bit is to pay for insurance and taxes. She calls that escrow. Then She made an account with leftover teaching money, so She can take back control of the money and keep us out of the tubes. I think She was very clever to do that, but Kasey thinks it was cheating to make Him think He was going to lose everything. Luckily, He thinks it was a good thing, because She knows Him so well. I have a feeling that She will get kind of bossy now. You can't make Her use up Her money to get us off the edge without expecting Her to get fussy. We are celebrating our getting saved by having some fish for our dinner. Ta Ta from the edge.

Generational Cats

This was a good day to learn things. She met with a bunch of people, and had a wonderful time, but I listened carefully to Her while She told Him about this meeting. It turns out that there were several ages of ladies at this meeting, and She was the oldest. It turns out that what age you are tells what generation you are, and She was able to see differences in the different generations. I listened and tried to figure out what generation Kasey and I are. Kasey said we are the same generation as whatever They are, because that's how it works with cats. I'm not so sure. See what you think. She was born at a time when there was no money in the country,m except for just a few people. It is kind of like what it is like now, only worse. That made Her a Depression Baby. Except for not having any money, it was a good time to be born, because there were fewer people being born, so there was not so much competition while She was growing up. Another nice thing about it is that She didn't know She was poor, since everyone She knew was in the same way. When Her generation started to go to school, there was a big war, and now there were lots of jobs. People were still poor, because everything had to go to fight the war. Everyone's Mother had to go to work because all the men had to go and fight in the war. He was born about that time, so He doesn't remember being so poor. His Dad made designs for airplanes. When that war was done, all the men came home and got married and had babies. At least their wives did. That is the time when She was going to school. She learned to be a teacher, and all those new babies grew old enough to go to school. She called that the Baby Boom, and a lot of His and Her friends are in that generation. All this makes a difference, it turns out. You learn stuff based on what is going on in the world while you grow up. So many things have changed. She is happy and proud of all Her friends, but She knows that the young ones have gone way past Her and Him in what they know how to do. I am just glad I am Her cat and that Kasey is His cat. They know what it is like to want to feel safe and to have plenty to eat and to care for their cats. Because She had such a big lunch today, I don't think our dinner will be very big. Whatever it is, I know She will share it with me. Her generation is like that. Semper Fi.

Left-Over Cats

On a day like this, when She goes out for lunch, it is just a whole day of happy. To begin with, She only goes out just once in a while, and only with very special people. The rest of the time She stays in the house and plays with us. Oh, and She visits with Her computer friends and family. If She has to go out, my favorite part is the left-overs. When She comes home with a take-away box, I know there is something I am going to like about it. Today there is not enough left-over for Him, but there is left-over from last night's dinner that He will be glad to eat, and She and I will finish up the lunch from today. Another nice thing is that She has such a lovely time with Hana'sGran that She forgets all the stuff that is working Her nerves. I don't know how H'sG does it, but I love that smile and good attitude when She gets home. While She was gone, He talked to some rich people to see if they want to give some money for His Flag business. He has to check back with them tonight and see if they will have some left-over money for Him. If He doesn't sell some of those flags pretty soon, She will start looking for an old lady's home to go and live. The thing is, they would have to take me along with Her. If you ask me, it would be better if She went to stay at Hana'sGran's house. But those are plan Bs , because I think people will like to buy His flags. Tomorrow is another lunch, but you can't take left-overs home from that place. It is a place where you can get all kinds of stuff. As much as you want. So no left-overs -but a lot of good friends to keep Her good spirits going. So O-ree-vwar for now.

CyberSpace Cats

This time I already know just what happened to my story from yesterday. It got lost in cyberspace. I had just finished my story when Her computer went all hinkey. All of a sudden, nothing connected and no matter where I pushed buttons, nothing happened. I had to go get Her and show Her what was going on. She checked into it and found out the company that works the computer was broken. And the phone was broken, too. She told Him and He was very upset. At that time, I decided to go and take a nap, because He was upset enough for both of us. The computer company told Him that it would be fixed the next day at about noon. That is today, and they were right - it got fixed. Since my story yesterday was about Her being blue, and since She feels just fine today, I won't repeat that story, but I will tell you about how glad I am that everything is fixed, and that She is seeing Her beloved Hana'sGran tomorrow and Her beloved Cleo'sMom the next day. Everything here at our house is back to the way it is supposed to be. I know She is fixing chicken for our dinner, and He is finding out how to sell His flags and His airplanes, so it should be a good night here at our house. Hope you have a good one, too.

Generous Cats

Every so often, some people call Her up and ask if She will give some things to poor people or soldiers or people who don't have jobs. At first She thinks, I don't have anything anyone would want. Then She remembers some things that She doesn't use any more. She tells me She has more clothes that She will ever wear, and someone could probably use some. Then there are things that have sat around for a long time, so long that He and She don't even see them anymore. One thing like that is the scratch lounge that Kate used to use to sharpen her little claws, and then have a nap in. It went into the big bag of stuff for the poor people. Even if they don't have cats, they can sell it in their store and use the money for some good use. Kasey and I used to sneak in that scratch box after Kate left, but we are generous cats, so we let it go. Another thing to think about giving away is something that has been in a drawer, and no one has used it for so long, He and She forgot it was there. Some of those things went into the bag. Then there are things that She loves because one of Her beloveds gave them to Her. She has loved them and treasured them, but now they need to find a good home. She hasn't checked the gift closet yet, but I bet there are some things for the bag in there, too. Maybe She bought a real bargain, but the kids are too old for it now. Some poor person's kid would like it. If She doesn't get rid of a lot of this stuff, this house will fill up and we will have to make paths to get around,. I saw a house like that on TV once and it made me wonder where a cat is supposed to sleep in all that mess. I help Her find stuff to put in the bag, so that our house doesn't get like that. Of course, Kasey doesn't care. Did I just see Him take the tails off some shrimp? Mmmm good idea for dinner. Cheery-bye.

Computer Cats

If our grandma-cats could see us now, they would be so surprised about how we can use a computer to tell stories and visit with each other. And surely they would think we are so smart and clever. Her grandmother never heard of a computer, and Her mother never got the hang of it. She didn't see a computer until She was all grown up, and then it was very hard to operate. You had to now all kinds of codes, and you used cards with holes punched in them. Computer guys had not figured how to make it small and easy. She told me the first computer workings She saw took up a whole room. Now they make computers so small that you can put them in your pocket. The one I use is still as big as a few loaves of bread. It is a good thing computers have become smaller and easier to use, because the computer is how She connects to the outside world. Every day She gets on the computer and talks to Her friends. If She didn't have Her computer friends she would be really stuck in the house with nothing to do. Although She is better at having nothing to do than He is, She likes knowing what Her friends and family are doing. She can computer-talk to Her OperaGirl and Her OzGirl, and all Her Eddie-people around the world. She would not be able to call them on the telephone. This way, She can see what everyone is doing every day. Cleo'sDad is working on election stuff, and Smudge'sMom is finishing the book she is writing, Her NatteringGirl is getting ready to move to another country - all these events happen and She is right there. Even when Kate'soldMom gets a new boyfriend, She can know about it. Of course, people don't write to me very much, but when I thought they didn't care, She told me they talked to Her. Since I have plenty to share, I'll keep writing. She is having something Her frozen people sent Her for our dinner. I don't know what it is. She says corned beef, but I don't see any corn.He is very glad about it. She is fixing some cabbage to go with it. If you know what this is, you'll have to wait and see if I like it, too. So far, I'm not too excited. Well, have a good evening.

Well-fed Cats

He and She often talk about how She used to love to cook. She was a creative person who liked to make up recipes. She rarely made a dish the same way twice, and She could make all kinds of stuff without recipes. Someone once told Her that She would get tired of it someday, but She did not agree with that. Well, guess what. She doesn't like to cook any more. She doesn't like to shop for cooking stuff, or use fancy cooking pans or bowls. If She tries to make something that takes a while, Her legs get tired and She has to rest pretty often. If He and She were rich people, They would hire someone to cook for them, but They are nowhere rich enough to do that. Here is what She has discovered that will work. She buys food already fixed. He says doesn't that cost a lot of money? She says it doesn't cost much more than going to the store and getting stuff to start from scratch. I think you know that He makes His salads for the week, and sometimes His breakfasts, as well. What She does is checks what they have at two different places. About one time each month, She finds sales and bargains, Her favorites are when they don't make Her pay for sending it, because that part costs a lot of money. They send things that She can fix in the oven or things that can just thaw out and eat. She would rather use the oven than the microwave. Another thing is that She can't have people come over to eat, because the frozen things are measured out. That's OK, because lots of people don't like having Kasey and me on the table, and we aren't likely to change that. She still likes to check for good deals, and She pretends that Her own personal cook fixed the food for Her and Him. Instead of feeling poor and lame, She gets to feel rich and waited on. Oh, sure, She feels sad sometimes, but mainly She just says aren't we lucky. Don't worry, She still keeps a special amount tucked away so that She can have lunch with Her good friends. One more way that She and I are alike is that we like our food and our friends. Tonight we are having a little of both, because She and Rocky'sMom got lunch, and as usual, She brought some home. R'sM got dinners to take home for Him and for her boy, so it is just warming up. It smells very good, so I will look forward to sharing. Bye bye.

Allergic Cats

I bet you knew that there is such a thing as allergic. It means there is something that does not fit in with your system, and if you get into it, it makes you sick or worse. People can die from allergic. In fact there are actually people who can't have cats because they are allergic to their loose skin, or even their hair. I did not realize there was such a thing until I watched the weather guy the other evening. The weather guy said that the weather was causing certain things to grow and those things were making people sick. He said there was grass. There were certain trees. There were some plants with powdery stuff on them. So today She made me very puzzled, because She had a headache again, and She said it was probably from something allergic. Here is my question. If She never goes outside, how could those plants and seeds and stuff get into her. She never goes outside. It can't be because She is allergic to me, because I am here every single day, and She only get that headache every few weeks. Perhaps She is allergic to Kasey, now that she is coming into the room where we are very often. It doesn't really matter, because He would never give Kasey away, even if She were allergic. He would just buy Her some more of those red pills that fix a headache. Well, when I finish writing my story, I believe I will go and give Her a few snuggles, and maybe a massage, because I am the happiest when He and She and Kasey and I all feel good. I hope She feels well enough to fix dinner, because what She told me we were fixing sounds really tasty. I'll let you know. Toodle Pip.

What Happened? Cats

I have no idea what happened to yesterday's story. I know you were disappointed when it didn't appear. I am sure I wrote about our nice day, but when I looked, it wasn't there. To tell you the truth, I was with Her every minute. Maybe that's what went wrong. I felt a little bit pew, and when She went to watch Her questions show, I went with Her. I guess I should have stayed here, like I am now, but it was so comfy and cozy having all those snuggles. I just know you will understand. Besides, yesterday I would have had to tell you that there is quite a bit of worry over the money He needs to finish getting His flags on sale. She really hates thinking about all that money, and it has made her kind of edgy. I told Her it would be good for Him to be out of money for awhile, so He can see how important it is to be careful with it. No one wants to hear stories about that, so you really didn't miss anything. Things are better today, because She finally got to see the TV show that has Eddie in it, playing a bad guy. I hate to say this about Her, but She likes to see Eddie in anything, even playing a crazy killing guy. It just goes to show, if She loves you, you can't really do anything wrong. Personally, I don't care for crazy killing guys, because they like to harm cats. No nice person would hurt a cat on purpose. He and She agree with me on that. Well, I think I will go and get a few more snuggles. I want to be in tip-top condition for dinner, because She is fixing fish. I'll e back tomorrow. Don't worry. Peace and love.

Hungry Cats

Did you know that being hungry doesn't always mean that you want something to eat? You can be hungry for other things. Let me explain. This morning I felt hungry and tried to wake Her up a little early. I had to give Her two massages, but finally She rose and shone. She looked in my dish, because She wondered if I was insisting because I was out of kibbles. No, there were plenty of kibbles in my dish. We had our butter, and I got up on the table and gave Her some extra snuggles while She read the paper. When She was ready to visit with Her computer friends, I got up on Her desk and asked for pets. She gave me a lovely brushing, but I still didn't jump down. I stepped on Her keyboard and made everything capital letters. I could see that She was getting impatient, so I hopped down. In a few more minutes, I jumped up again, and She finally caught on. She let me lie on Her desk and She snuggled me so I could fall asleep. I think She played a game with Her free hand while I slept on the other one. After awhile, I woke up and finally felt full. You see, I was hungry for snuggles and pets. The brushing was nice, but it wasn't enough. I wonder if people ever get hungry for things that are not things to eat. I think the best thing in the world is to have somebody who will feed your feelings as well as your tummy. I believe that is why He and She and Kasey and I are all lucky to have each other. I think it is why She loves Her friends. They seem to know what She needs, just like She does for me. I am perfectly fine now, and I know where I can get snuggles when I am hungry for them. Cheerio, Mates.

Well-Dressed Cats

I don't mean to brag, but I am a stunningly beautiful cat. There are people who look at me and say I am an orange tabby. No, my cousin Lucky is an orange tabby, and I look nothing like him. You can guess what She thought of when She first brought me home from the esspeeceeay. She told Him I looked the color of coffee with cream in it. That's where I got my name. I have a lot of that coffee-and-cream colored fur, so it is important that I get it brushed every day. Even then, I leave a lot of hair on the chairs and sofa. She says it is OK, because that's why it is called fur-niture. I love my brushings, except for when She finds a tangle, and then it pulls. A quick bite on Her hand gets that taken care of promptly. Sometimes She just holds the brush and I rub my face and chin on it. It doesn't make hair come off, but it feels very good and it doesn't even hurt, even though the brush has wire pointy bristles. After my brushing I get a nice nap in a handsome-cat pose. My sister, Kasey does not like brushing. Kasey has not been brushed since I ever first saw her, and she still looks like a lovely cat. She has light gray and dark gray stripes with little spots of orange peeking out here and there, and that one cream-colored paw. If you ask me, Kasey is very pretty. She is only half as big as me, though we are the same age. Being little makes Kasey look delicate, but don't be fooled. She is a tough old cat who does not take any nonsense from anybody. Today, She went to pet Kasey after She gave her some treats and Kasey just turned around and walked away. You would never believe we are brother and sister We could not be more different. For example, I am excited because She says we are having pizza for our dinner. I am tickled pink, but Kasey doesn't care. Toodles.
