I wonder what makes Kate, Kasey and me behave like good cats. Sometimes He yells, but not very much, and He still gives us treats afterward. We don't have punishments. Our food is always there, and our litter is always clean. We have plenty of water. Those things happen whether Kate scratches the chair or Kasey gets on His keyboard.. So if we aren't afraid of getting punished, what is it that makes us be good? Of course, it depends on what you mean by being good. We mostly just sleep, play and eat. Cats that live outside chase birds and mice and squirrels, but they don't do it to be bad cats. They do it because that is what their cat-moms and cat-grandmas taught them to do. When Kate had her little kittens, some boys took them in the street for cars to run over. No cat would have done anything like that. Maybe I should ask the question why do human people do things like hurting little kittens? Humans have lots of rules and punishments. Some people behave because they don't want to go to a jail. Lots of them behave because they don't want to go to a place called hell. He and She don't believe in hell. They behave, but not because they are afraid they will get punished. She told me She behaves like a good person because it is the right thing to do, and doing the right thing makes you feel good. Humans have a gazillion more rules than cats. I heard that some of them are hard to follow. She was not supposed to not like His mother, but She tried and tried, and couldn't like her. Every day I am glad I am a cat, and glad They are good because it is the right thing to do. Kate can't help it that she is jealous, and Kasey can't help it that she doesn't like anything but Him and Auntie Heather.
Thinking about hard things like this make me sleepy. I must go and take a nap, now - because it is the right thing to do. Odd-yoo.
